It seems that Bloomington Gold sneaks up on us every year! With just 8 weeks to go, there is still a lot to do to get ready for the 2024 Show on our end…hopefully you have done just about everything to prepare except pack your suitcase.

For those of you that have yet to join, now is the time! GoldMembership is a great way to experience Bloomington Gold. From open to close, members have access to a lounge with refreshments available, coffee in the morning, a dinner reception Friday and lunch on Saturday.

A SALUTE TO THE FUEL INJECTED CORVETTE

This year’s theme of the Gold Collection will be the Fuel Injected Corvette. A total of 27 “Fuelie” Corvettes and the CERV I Fuel Injection Unit will be on display in this year’s Collection, which is housed in the Bone Student Center of Illinois State University.

The Fuel Injected Corvette offered lucky owners increased power and acceleration as well as a better start in cold weather. Between the first one built in 1957 until the final one in 1965, only 11,400 were built over 8 production years. This collection will showcase some of the more sought after, highly historic, and well-preserved Fuel Injected Corvettes! We can’t wait for you to see the amazing cars that have been assembled for the 2024 Gold Collection, A Salute to the Fuel Injected Corvette.

WILL BE AT BLOOMINGTON GOLD!

No matter what Generation is your passion, this is one Corvette true Corvette lovers will want to see!

The reportedly first ever manufactured Corvette, the 1953 Serial #001 Corvette, will be at Bloomington Gold this June! See it, hear about the hunt and have your questions answered by the historian that located it, Cory Peterson.

For 70 years, the whereabouts of vin #001 that rolled off the assembly line in 1953 has been debated. From historians to collectors, years have been spent trying to pinpoint the whereabouts of the car. Then historian Cory Peterson presented his research on a 1953 that had been parked in the corner of a restorer’s shop in Oklahoma, sparking the debate once again on the whereabouts of the 001 Corvette. As this Corvette comes to Bloomington Gold as one of our special guests, you will have the opportunity to hear about as well as see the evidence as to why this white 1953 most likely is the real #001!

ANNOUNCING THE 2024 HORTON FIELD HOUSE SPECIAL DISPLAY

1967 Corvette L88 Convertible Serial number 21550, has an unquestionable pedigree as the best-documented example of its kind and can be suitably referred to as “The Ultimate L88.”

Learn the rest of the story about these AMAZING cars at Bloomington Gold this June as these two L88’s will be on display in the Horton Field House. In addition, David Burroughs and Justin Shaffer will be giving a seminar on the L88 as part of Gold School.

In the 1967 Le Mans qualifications, this L88 delivered a record-setting performance, hitting a remarkable 171.5 MPH, which was 10 seconds faster than the previous GT record.

Gold Standard Judging®

Just as Bloomington Gold expands Gold Standard Judging to be held three times annually in three separate cities, we are excited to announce we have also partnered with Corvette Central as our sponsor of Gold Standard Judging. Gold Certified®, Benchmark® and SURVIVOR® judging will now be held in Kissimmee, FL; Bloomington, IL and Dallas, TX. By offering additional locations throughout the country more Corvette owners will be able to enter their car to be certified by Bloomington Gold.

Since Bloomington Gold judges a Corvette as to how original it is to when it left the factory, no better and no worse, having a Bloomington Gold certified Corvette often adds value to the vehicle at the time of sale. However, selling the vehicle is not the only reason owners seek to have their car Bloomington Gold judge. For many it is a badge of honor while for others it is another accolade to add to the Car.

While judging in June will be part of the annual show in Bloomington, IL both the Kissimmee and Dallas events will be held at the same time as Mecum Auctions, offering owners an additional event to attend as part of the experience.

With a slogan of “The Caretaker of Legends”, Corvette Central is indeed the caretaker to countless Corvettes that have successfully been restored to typical factory production. Also a longtime supporter and friend of Bloomington Gold, it was natural for Corvette Central to be the sponsor of Bloomington Gold Standard Judging. As America’s leading distributor and manufacturer of Corvette parts & accessories since 1975, Corvette Central has supported Bloomington Gold in a number of capacities over the years and was, interestingly, a swap vendor back in the early years of Bloomington Gold.

Registration for judging in Bloomington this June and Dallas in September are both open and registration for Kissimmee January 2025 will open in July. If you are interested in registering your car for judging this June, it is important to do so quickly as some of the classes are close to full.
