Project Description The goal of the project is to create new urban imaginaries for a biodiverse, ecological urban model that incorporates indigenous ways of thinking, placing people within rather than above nature and where people act as stewards or caretakers of the land and water About The Location Whitehorse is a capital city of Yukon Province with an area of 416 sq km The Yukon river runs on the left The site sits between the ALaska highway and river geographically. Whitehorse is located within the traditional territories of two self governing First Nations, the Ta’ an Kwäch’än Council (TKC) and Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN). Bringing a design intervention to the parking lots which is easy to install but also elevate the characteristics of the plazas is the main objective. The modular structures are accommodating different activities when there are many events happening in the parking lots. In addition to authentic events, the neighborhood is now ready to host the grand Caribbean parade along the Eglinton Avenue West! Roles and Conduct site visits and interview with locals to learn about the culture and the urban issues they are facing Develop conceptual design ideas and try to articulate them in the site context.
