Hot History
The spirit of the showgirl era lives on in a big
way in this long-running production
Anita Mann, the creative force behind the incredibly successful Fantasy: The Strip’s Sexiest Tease (25 years and counting), is a woman who truly knows and appreciates her history. Indeed, her show, which features some of the world’s most beautiful, athletic women in a variety of dance styles, is a nod to the bygone showgirl era, one that helped to define Vegas in the mid-20th century.
The showgirl, which originated in Las Vegas with the opening of the Moulin Rouge Hotel on May 24, 1955, is still considered one of the city’s most enduring symbols. The impact showgirls had on Mann’s life is now immortalized forever; this year, the National Day Archives commemorated May 24 as National Showgirl Day, and Mann led the charge to make that happen.
Mann, who began her career in show business at a young age, still remembers her introduction to the showgirl vividly: “When I was a young dancer working at the Moulin Rouge in Hollywood, I recall watching the showgirls arrive for their shows,” said Mann in a prepared statement.
“They were stunning, talented and deeply committed to their art. Those women inspired my love for Las Vegas, and I’ve always felt they deserve recognition for shaping what it truly means to be a Las Vegas performer. They are the heart of this city’s entertainment legacy.”
It’s easy to see the influence on Mann’s Fantasy. Through 15 numbers, women from all over the globe wear some truly striking costumes (which, of course, often come off, this being a topless, adults-only show) while engaging in numbers that show off both physical skill and sensuality. Mandy Moore, who choreographed the movie musical La La Land, recently created new opening and closing numbers, and revamped some of the show’s more classic moments.
The show’s musical element remains a strong part of its success, thanks to emcee Lorena Peril, who’s as adept at hitting the high notes to “Roxanne” as she is loosening up audiences with her sense of humor.
Thanks to shows like Fantasy, audiences will always have a connection to a key part of Las Vegas history. –Ken Miller

French Delight
Celebrity chef’s Strip restaurant has every meal covered
Bobby Flay’s influence can be found all over the Las Vegas Strip, but particularly at Caesars Palace. Not only will you find an outpost of his popular Bobby’s Burgers and Amalfi, his take on Mediterranean cuisine, you’ll find French flair to spare at Brasserie B by Bobby Flay, easily one of the best of its kind in town. The first thing you’ll notice about this stand-out restaurant is its exterior, with a sign that playfully bends toward you, beckoning you inside. The bright interior is highlighted by plenty of table and booth seating, as well as a well-stocked bar, raw bar and large separate area for larger parties. The second thing you’ll notice is that this restaurant has it all—breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch, with all menus offering Flay’s unique touch on items beloved by Francophiles.
If you’re here for dinner, we can’t recommend highly enough the hot homemade potato chips, served with a Roquefort cheese sauce, as a starter. Duck confit with tangerine, almond and pomegranate is also a great French-themed app, along with escargots in garlic sauce. Then it’s onto the main course, with everything from gnocchi gratin, served with wild mushrooms, peas and
Gruyère, to the classic pairing of a New York strip steak and lobster tail. Brunch, offered 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, features plenty of goodies. Start with East and West Coast oysters on ice, then make your way to signature delights like the Bar Americain Burger, so delicious with Gruyère and American cheese and bacon. For a refreshing change of pace, order mussels, served in a white wine and garlic broth and paired with grilled bread.
Breakfast options are more than plentiful here, from Eggs Royale, served with smoked salmon and lemon chive hollandaise to French toast served with seasonal berries and whipped crème fraîche. Fans of croque monsieur and madame will love these versions, both featuring ham and cheese, and both browned. (The madame adds a crispy fried egg.)
Lunch features light fare like the Nice Chopped Salad, topped with vegetables, legumes and feta, then drizzled with creamy lemon-oregano vinaigrette, and the avocado toast, made with sourdough and topped with poached eggs, radish and goat’s cheese, then drizzled with lemon vinaigrette. –Ken Miller

Nonstop Magic
There are
no breaks when it comes to delivering her brand of family-friendly entertainment
Time flies when your profession is your passion. For Jen Kramer, it seems like only yesterday she visited Las Vegas for the first time. Now she’s heading toward the 1,000th performance of The Magic of Jen Kramer at Westgate Las Vegas, with her career moving so fast the 10th anniversary of her arrival on the scene passed before she realized it.
“How could I have let a decade go by without throwing a party or something? I don’t know!” she says. “Missed opportunity there … It’s going to be 10 years from now in no time.”
Kramer was preoccupied with being in the moment at her 5 p.m. Westgate Cabaret shows, where her mix of magic and mentalism constantly creates new fans who line up after shows during meet-and-greets to share their enthusiasm about her signature quick-change trick illusion early in the performance and her new climactic trick.
The latter is the latest creation made possible by maintaining a fertile imagination. “That flow state is so real,” she says. “Sometimes when you’re exploring a different realm of magic like with the new finale that we’re doing in the show—it’s more
grand illusion style—your brain starts thinking, ‘How can I apply this idea or that idea?’”
Not that Kramer is going to retire her oeuvre of card tricks, but an evolution into grand illusions would be a natural next step. She’s a veteran of the Strip’s magic scene now. The tricks she brought to Westgate Cabaret are increasingly enhanced by the possibilities she’s able to visualize based on the venue’s dimensions and capabilities.
“We wanted to do something big for the finale, so I’m making a big, sparkly purple motorcycle appear onstage,” she says. “It’s an absolute blast. It’s something very different than the material throughout the rest of the show, and that was part of the appeal of it for me, doing something than felt like a stretch and provided variety.”
It’s also the next step in Kramer’s goal of creating human connection through magic. “It’s all about making people feel like they’re 5 years old again, looking through that lens of wonder,” Kramer says. –Las Vegas Magazine Staff

Building Quality
Great ingredients yield delicious dishes
Need a really, really good bite for lunch?
Head to Wally’s Wine & Spirits, a combo of a wine shop, deli and restaurant that has achieved wide acclaim in Southern California for its flagship Beverly Hills outpost (as well as one in Santa Monica). And the Resorts World Las Vegas location has garnered nearly as much acclaim. Patio and interior seating is surrounded by numerous counters serving cheese, condiments and more, and tons of towering wooden racks of wine.
Brunch and lunch here is a casual
affair that’s also elegant, with items like chopped chicken salad, lobster salad, Caesar salad, bluefin tuna salad, buffalina pizza and truffle pizza. The pastrami Reuben features Gruyère, sauerkraut and a Russian aioli on ciabatta. Wally’s Burger is a signature item on both lunch and dinner menus, featuring an 8-ounce Black Hawk American wagyu patty, Artikaas smoked Gouda, caramelized onions and Wally’s Special Sauce.
Truffle gnocchi is another staple on both menus—the combination of ricotta
gnocchi, Parmesan, black truffle and a mushroom medley is simply luscious. For traditional entrées, the New York prime steak frites features Wanderer grass-fed beef, while the king salmon fillet is topped with a lemon-beurre blanc sauce.
Wally’s all-day menu sports cheese and charcuterie boards with intense flavors from Italy, Spain, Switzerland, France, England and the U.S. –Nina King

Exceptional eats await at this hidden gem
Incredible food options abound on the Strip, but venturing off the boulevard means finding local favorites that give travelers a taste of life in the valley. One district that absolutely cannot be missed is Chinatown, which sits just across the I-15 with a vast array of irresistible eateries that serve foods from all kinds of cuisines. And one of the newest restaurants to open in the area, Le Cafe Central , brings a local-loved experience within easy tourist reach.
Operated by Le Cafe Du Vegas, this brand of adorable neighborhood
cafes is known for delicious breakfast items, handcrafted beverages and viennoiseries imported straight from France. The Le Cafe Central location provides comfortable and uplifting ambience with its bright teal walls and funky light fixtures, perfect for communing over coffee or enjoying a full breakfast.
Diners won’t find a bad option on the menu, but there are certainly some stars. Order the duck gallette, which is exclusive to this location, for a delicate buckwheat crepe filled with rich duck meat and topped with a sun-
ny-side up egg, arugula and red onion. Or try an unorthodox savory French toast, like the smoked salmon version with capers, red onion, arugula and hollandaise sauce. For something a bit more familiar, have the croissant egg sandwich, which has a perfectly fluffy Swiss cheese omelet, fresh tomato, basil sauce and mayo. Don’t forget to order a latte and a sweet treat while you’re here—the cherry yogurt pastry is delightful! –Em Jurbala

LA GRANITA
Caramella at Planet Hollywood
702.785.5551
It’s summertime in Las Vegas and the thermometer readings are high, as is normal for a desert town. If you’re like me, you’re always looking for a little relief from hot temps, and this is certainly a go-to drink for that. This tasty cocktail has been crafted from Maestro Dobel Diamante tequila, orangecello, grapefruit, lemon and prosecco. The tequila itself is a blend of three varieties—extra-añejo, añejo and reposado—which goes through a filtering process after aging to create a crystal-clear spirit, hence the name. It has notes of honey, maple and caramel (seems fitting considering the name of the restaurant, eh?), and even a little vanilla, which create a background depth for the bright, citrus ingredients, and the bubbles of the prosecco tickle your tongue. –Nina King
CUCUMBER AGUA FRESCA
¡VIVA! by Ray Garcia at Resorts World Las Vegas 702.676.6020
The perfect morning-after drink, this vibrant-green bev will leave you hydrated and refreshed when you order it during brunch at ¡VIVA! The lightly
sweet, cooling drink is made by blending cucumbers with water and straining that mixture to create a pulp-free juice that is then sweetened with agave or honey, given a pinch of salt and flavored with a squeeze of fresh lime. It’s a simple, subtle concoction with a taste so pleasant that one sip will win you over. It certainly had me hooked, as I spent La Granita

hours trying to re-create the bright beverage, only to come up slightly short of perfecting its delicate balance of flavors. Make this drink even better by kicking back with it on the restaurant’s fabulous patio. –Em Jurbala
SINGLE BARREL OLD-FASHIONED
Bourbon Steak at Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas
702.632.5000
Ask anyone who knows me reasonably well: My absolute favorite cocktail is the Old-Fashioned. Always has been. Always likely will be. There’s just something so timeless about something that is made with just a few basic ingredients. And one of the newest versions on the Strip has quickly become a new obsession of mine. This truly signature product at master chef Michael Mina’s newest Strip restaurant adds an apple accent, with apple brandy mixed in with Russell’s Reserve 10-year bourbon (with coconut!), mulled Demerara and toasted pecan bitters. The addition of a dried apple slice adds a wonderful, colorful accent to what is already one of my favorite Old-Fashioned versions ever. –Ken Miller

Barry’s Downtown Prime at Circa Resort & Casino
702.726.5504
When Wilson Barrera, bartender at Barry’s Downtown Prime at Circa Resort & Casino, was creating this new cocktail, he wanted to add a rim, but something different than just another sugar-dipped rim (as delicious as those are). So he added a brush of raspberry compote, and—man oh man!—does that little unique touch send this slightly sweet and well-balanced cocktail over the top. I couldn’t put it down between sips. The blend of Grey Goose Strawberry essence vodka, lychee syrup, Aperol, lime juice and egg whites is sent into another level with that simple touch of sweetness. And forgive me for breaking the rules (I know we’re picking one cocktail), but I can’t help mentioning that Barrera promises he’ll also make you the best espresso martini of your life, so now you have two reasons to visit! –Kiko Miyasato

Corey Nigrelli
Director of operations continues a legendary career
When Corey Nigrelli says Caspian’s Rock & Roe is “awesome, it’s somewhere I would hang out. This is by far the best work environment that I’ve ever worked at,” that’s saying a lot.
While he’s the director of operations for the new hot spot at Caesars Palace, this man has been at the helm of some legendary venues across the city, including nightclubs like Tao and Pure and Wet Republic dayclub. With more than two decades in the nightlife and food and
beverage industry, Nigrelli is a legend himself in this city, so when he recommends hanging out at Caspian’s Rock & Roe, it’s a sure bet that it’s a spot to put on your Vegas to-do list.
“Caspian’s is a live rock ’n’ roll lounge blended with a caviar-oriented food menu,” he says. “It’s class, it’s polished, it’s amazing service, but it’s also a rock ’n’ roll party nightly.”
And you’ll spot Nigrelli all around the venue, especially inside the speakeasy

The cocktails at Caspian’s Rock & Roe are built for social media as well as being on-point in flavor. Growing up in a family of restaurateurs, Nigrelli developed that old-school work ethic. “Big smile, big handshake, big hug, remember people’s names and then people feel like they get that personable touch,” he says. “I welcome people to my house—this is my house, let me show you a good time.” –Kiko Miyasato

Carversteak keeps the focus on quality
By Nina King
Summer arrives this week, but you can still enjoy fresh ingredients at Carversteak, Carver Road Hospitality’s elegant steakhouse at Resorts World Las Vegas. Enjoying cocktails at
Carversteak is an experience on its own, with traditional drinks like the Carversteak Old-Fashioned, and carefully planned twists on others and quality ingredients in all. The menu is about as fun to read
as it is to order from, with master mixologist Francesco Lafranconi tweaking it seasonally.
The appetizers here are quite impressive, from traditional items like seared crab
Foie gras
Spring greens and burrata
cakes and steak tartare to the Korean glazed pork belly with pickled mustard seed. If you want to indulge in caviar, Carversteak serves 1-ounce portions of osetra, golden Kaluga and Siberian caviar, along with gougères and lemon-chive crème fraîche.
Seared Hudson Valley foie gras is served with a cranberry pain perdu and kumquat marmalade.
Follow that up with the spring greens and burrata, which combines ingredients
such as orange and basil vinaigrette with asparagus and roasted baby beets to create a dish you’ll keep at the table. Corn and clam chowder puts an inventive twist on the favorite soup, with smoked bacon, popcorn and potato.
If you are a seafood fan, you’ve got your pick of a variety of forms, from oysters on the half shell, available in two portion sizes, to yellowtail, salmon and spicy tuna preparations.
Resorts World
The grand plateau features a Maine lobster, gulf shrimp, oysters, clams and mussels, while the petite plateau cuts that serving in half.
You can get that seafood in your entrées as well with Atlantic salmon and Alaskan halibut, each delivering a different experience, from the parsley-crusted salmon with preserved lemon to the pan-roasted halibut with fennel and watercress. Jidori chicken breast comes with black truffle vin juane sauce (a sherrylike yellow wine aged under a film of yeast) and heirloom carrots, while the 2-pound lobster en croute presents a striking first impression. Vegan options include a vegan chop (I’ve had this more than once!) and binchotan-grilled eggplant. Order a steak, and your server will approach your table with a mysterious box— it’s your choice of steak knife. Carversteak has a beautiful,
eclectic collection of various cutlery, plus the selection of steak knives. (There’s even a display inside the private dining room.) Steaks are a huge focus here, of course, with such options as a 10-ounce Creekstone Farms filet of ribeye, an 8-ounce aged rib cap from Snake River Farms and a 50-ounce aged Westholme wagyu tomahawk.
Side dishes are equally as delicious as the mains, and a favorite here is the mac and cheese gratin with cavatappi pasta and aged cheddar. You may want to opt for additions of truffle or lobster, but you honestly don’t need it.
There are plenty of desserts, including the luscious cheesecake with a strawberry creméux, Harry’s Berries and a fruit compote. And the showstopping baked Nevada is sure to be a hit. The flaming dessert is a twist on the classic Alaska, but with raspberry sorbet, coconut-lime cake and a toasty meringue.

You haven’t really done Vegas until you’ve eaten a roasted Cornish game hen with your bare hands while shouting “Huzzah!” at a knight in chainmail.
Take the show’s tagline to heart (“Eat. Drink. Be Rowdy”) and you’re guaranteed maximum enjoyment.
Welcome to Tournament of Kings, the gloriously over-the-top dinner show at Excalibur that’s been battling it out for an impressive 35 years.
Long before bottle service, giant LED orbs and EDM residencies took over the Strip, Kings was serving up galloping horses, clashing swords and medieval mayhem in a dirt-filled arena. And guess what? It’s still absolutely crushing it.
What began in 1990 as a throwback fantasy experience based on the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table is now a true Vegas institution—part Renaissance faire, part live-action video game and 100% committed to its bit. Audiences are divided into color-coded sections representing a specific country (Austria, France, Hungary, Ireland, Romania, Spain and Sweden), handed a hearty feast and plunged into a world of noble steeds, fire-breathing villains and battle cries that’ll get your fist pumping in the air (while clutching that game hen leg, of course).
This is no run-of-the-mill cosplay. Whether they’re jousting on real horses at full speed or dramatically throwing goblets to the ground, the performers have a (real) axe to grind. And that’s not the only battle prop you’ll see this evening: There are swords swung, flails flailed, and lance tips sheared as the drama unfolds.
If this is your first time in the arena, expect a story that’s equal parts noble quest and
crowd-pleasing chaos, all set to a booming score. There’s fire, there’s betrayal, there’s cheering and booing and cheering again, because you can’t be mad for long at those Lancelot lookalikes with their killer locks. It’s pure spectacle, built to thrill both kids and adults, powered by pyrotechnics, slapstick swordplay and just the right amount of chivalric smack talk.
Crowd participation is highly encouraged. After all, you’re not just watching a Middle Ages battle—you’re part of the round table (er, arena).
And this is a show that takes authenticity to the hilt: That aforementioned Cornish game hen? Dinner comes straight to the table, served medieval-style with no utensils. That’s right. Dig into that fowl—along with the potatoes, corn, biscuit and dessert—with your bare hands like a true lord or lady of the realm. It’s messy and fun in the best way possible. You might even leave with gravy on your sleeve. (Vegetarian and gluten-free options, requested in advance, are available.)
In a city that constantly reinvents itself, Tournament of Kings is the rare show that’s lasted, not because it changed, but because it didn’t. It stayed true to its sword-swinging, fire-spewing, horse-galloping roots, betting everything on real stunts, real steeds and real audience energy. For families looking for all-ages entertainment, couples craving something quirky or nostalgia-hungry tourists who just want to yell “Long live the king!” with gusto— this show delivers.

At REAL BODIES at Horseshoe Las Vegas, it’s all about the human experience
What’s one thing that you can love and hate at the same time? What’s one thing that will always be the same to you but constantly changes? What’s one thing that you know better than anyone else but might not fully understand? It’s your body, folks. The one thing you’re born with and the one thing you die with. And there’s one spot in town that explores, entertains and explains all about it—REAL BODIES at Horseshoe Las Vegas
“(This) exhibit has been years in the making,” said Shawndra Talaga, sales and marketing manager for Imagine Exhibitions Las Vegas. “From sourcing and ethically procuring the specimens through body donation programs, to the intricate preservation process of plastination, to building the immersive environment, it’s a multiyear endeavor involving scientists, medical professionals, designers and educators. Every display is the result of precision, planning, and a deep respect for the human form.”
The self-guided exhibit takes a deep dive into the human form and humanity with a series of both educational and entertaining displays that utilize actual human specimens put through plastination, a way of preserving the body and body parts. Take your time exploring the different rooms divided by how the body works and what systems it operates like skeletal, muscular, respiratory and circulatory.
“But what really resonates with visitors is how we connect these scientific insights with the human experience: love, stress, aging, even what it means to be alive,” Talaga said. “It’s not just about seeing anatomy—it’s about seeing yourself in a new way.”
• The amount of carbon in the body weighs 44 pounds, which can be used to produce 9,000 pencils
• The amount of iron in the body can produce one nail
• Bones in your body store energy in the marrow, create blood cells in its spongey interior, protect vital organs and give muscles a reason to move.
• The volume of air you breathe each day can fill approximately seven hot air balloons.
• The average speed of a sneeze is about 100 miles per hour
• You will produce about 9,000 pounds of waste matter in your life.
• Close to 100,000 miles of arteries, capillaries and veins run through the body.
• The largest cell in the human body is the female egg and the smallest cell is the male sperm
“One particularly fascinating piece is the display showing the entire nervous system on its own—it’s incredibly intricate and delicate,” she said. “We also have a preserved set of lungs side-by-side—one healthy, one from a smoker—which always sparks important conversations. And for the curious minds, the fetal development section is both emotional and awe-inspiring.”
“Come early in the day if you want a quieter, more contemplative experience,” she said. “And don’t rush—there are layers of detail in every display. Also, many people don’t realize that all of the specimens are real, donated human bodies—handled with the utmost respect for educational purposes.”

Historian Robert Friedrichs discusses solving the mystery behind an iconic photograph
By Em Jurbala Photos by Christopher DeVargas
It’s hard to imagine a spectacle that could top showgirls and Sinatra in 1950s Las Vegas, but the Nevada Test Site, where nuclear weapons testing produced fascinating mushroom clouds viewable
from casino rooftops, drew curious visitors to the city in droves. Atomic Museum Vegas offers a deep dive into this part of Vegas’ storied history, and it recently unveiled a new exhibit centered around Anna
Lee Mahoney, more famously known as Miss Atomic Bomb, whose likeness was widely recognizable but whose identity remained anonymous until historian Robert Friedrichs solved the mystery.
When they were building the museum, they talked about using that photo for marketing purposes. I thought it would really be neat if she were still alive and we were able to contact her, have her come to the opening and let her see how important that photo has been for the development of Las Vegas. Unfortunately … she had passed away before that decision was made. So it’s not 25 years (gone to) waste, but it’s nice to have the recognition finally documented and out there.
I thought that her family needed to know. Unfortunately, she had no children. She was married, but her husband had passed away a few years before her. In doing the research, trying to track her down, we were looking at combinations of names … We lucked out when we were working with a combination and found a cousin’s daughter. The mother and the daughter are still alive, and I had included the pictures in the
letter that I sent, explaining the fact that we were trying to get an identification on her … She unfortunately didn’t have any (pictures) and I asked her, what was her maiden name? That’s when everything broke loose.
That’s when we got her birth certificate, we got her Social Security record, and on the Social Security record, another name associated with that number was Lee Merlin (her stage name).
Oh, yes. When you have no name other than a stage name … that still doesn’t get you anything, you know? So we really were lucky. I did a presentation (at Atomic Museum) on the different iterations of Miss Atomic … and at the end of the lecture I always would say, “Now, are you ready to help me find out who it is?”
And lo and behold, there was a DRI (Desert Research Institute) employee that was sitting in the back of the room. She immediately went upstairs and started searching, and she found an obituary that indicated (Merlin) had been a showgirl at the Sands Hotel … and that struck a bell for me. That one comment would lead me to who her dance instructor was … who identified that she was in California at the key time period where Lee Merlin
was popping up in news articles and photos as being there … and she was registered as a voter with her stage name. It was just pure coincidence that I had asked that question.
Actually, they didn’t use that photo in the first press release. They used a different one, and it was a small picture in one newspaper. Then they went out with this one, and that’s the one the public went crazy over ... And the other issue is that this is such a controversial picture. People have written articles on it and said that she was nude, except for the mushroom cloud. You can see the swimsuit, but people’s imagination just ran with it, and that is considered one of the 100 best photos ever taken.

Shakira brings the heat to Vegas—and this time, it’s personal

ummer is officially here, but the temperature is about to go up even more when Shakira takes over Las Vegas as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. The international pop icon behind global hits like “Whenever, Wherever,” “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” and “She Wolf” was originally supposed to hit arenas in 2024, but overwhelming fan demand led to a full stadium upgrade and a shiny new 2025 schedule. Lucky us, Vegas gets front-row seats to one of the shows of the year.
The pop star is riding high from her record-breaking Latin America tour, which set new benchmarks in the music industry. When the Las Mujeres tour was announced there, 18 stadium shows—nearly a million tickets—sold out within two hours. Demand was so high that she had to add a fifth show in Mexico City, making her the first female artist to pull that off. In Colombia, she shattered records again, becoming the first female artist to perform in five stadiums across the country. When she lands in the desert this week, it’s safe to say those hips are sufficiently warmed up for what promises to be a stadium-shaking masterclass in pop domination.
The tour follows the release of Shakira’s 12th studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women No Longer Cry), a bold, beat-driven celebration of strength and survival. It turns heartbreak into empowerment and empowerment into a reason to dance. The record became 2024’s most streamed album within 24 hours of its release and earned seven-times platinum certification, proving that sometimes the best art comes
from life’s challenging moments. Shakira’s been through some public ups and downs recently, and instead of hiding, she’s turned that experience into anthems that make you want to shake off your own baggage on the dancefloor.
The Colombian superstar, the best-selling female Latin artist of all time, has a rare gift of connecting across languages and cultures that few can match, with numbers to back it up—95 million records sold worldwide, 27 billion YouTube views, three Grammys and 12 Latin Grammys. But the magic really happens onstage: With the shake of her hips, she can get 70,000 strangers on their feet.
Fans can expect a career-spanning setlist that bridges classic Shakira hits with newer chart-toppers like “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” and “Soltera,” which recently exploded across Spotify’s global charts. Don’t be surprised if “La Tortura” and “Underneath Your Clothes” make appearances, too—this is an artist who’s been dropping bangers for more than two decades.
Shakira’s latest production isn’t just ambitious—it’s a high-voltage rebirth disguised as a concert. With mind-bending visuals, nextgen tech and what she’s cryptically teasing as “several surprises,” every element of the staging echoes the album’s themes of transformation, reckoning and radical self-renewal.
But beneath the heart-pumping beats is something more intimate: the raw, unfiltered story of a woman untangling her own life in real time while the world watches. It’s cinematic. It’s cathartic. It’s stadium-sized.
This is Shakira at her most vulnerable and powerful. Get ready to witness and dance.

Find your bliss at Superplastic’s Dopeameme Institute for Pleasure Research experience
Every time that little smile spreads across your face, or you get that warm, fuzzy feeling, that is your brain releasing dopamine into the body. Ahhh, dopamine, nature’s ecstasy! And as humans, we seek out ways in the world to activate our brain to release more and more of it.
Now, what if there was a place you could go to trigger hit after hit of dopamine?
There is—thanks to the creative genius of intellectual property company Superplastic. Head to AREA15 and visit the arts and entertainment district’s newest tenant, Superplastic’s Dopeameme Institute for Pleasure Research (D.I.P.R.).
“There is no more perfect place for us than to be at AREA15,” says Superplas-
tic CEO Jennifer van Dijk. “(It’s) the perfect home for our kind of twisted humor to be brought to life.”
In the same vein as Disney or Marvel, Superplastic designs and creates characters and content to share with audiences, especially those on social media like TikTok, YouTube and Instagram. That content has gone viral and triggered a slew of artistic collaborations with stars like Post Malone and Paris Hilton and brands like Gucci, Fortnite and Tommy Hilfiger. Superplastic’s world of characters has been turned into collectible toys and fashionable
apparel, and now the company has branched into the immersive attraction world with its first-ever, in-real-life experience, the Dopeameme Institute For Pleasure Research. “It’s really important to us to find new ways to engage our fans,” van Dijk says. “We wanted to make something that would really bring people into our world and excite our fans who knows us but also give us an opportunity to get new fans and discover who we are.”
3215 S. Rancho Drive. area15.com
So, just what is this D.I.P.R. experience? Simply put, it’s a walk-through, story-driven immersive adventure where the most wellknown characters from Superplastic, like Janky, Dayzee and Guggimon, guide visitors through a series of rooms that will elicit dopamine hits to the body through interactive
experiences. If you put your science hat on, you’ll remember that the body produces dopamine through activities like exercise and dancing, and at D.I.P.R. you’ll get to do both in rooms like “Heavy Pedal,” a laundromat-themed space where you’ll pedal on a stationary bike, or the “Private Dancer” room, a space that looks like an office building bathroom where you’ll step into your own stall and dance like no one is watching. Inside these rooms, you’ll also be taken through a series of tests guided by Superplastic characters that comically reveal their warped, twisted sense of humor. Besides the rooms, there are a ton of different activations and Easter eggs that help deliver a rush of dopamine to visitors as they make their way through the

experience, all ending with a personalized QR code to scan and download your own digital profile. The profile enables visitors to share their experience on social
media and is also filled with pictures of you throughout the experience. (Yes, you are on camera!)
Outside of the ticketed attraction is The Dopeameme
Shop, open to ticket holders and visitors of AREA15. It’s here that Superplastic offers exclusive merch like collectibles and cheeky impulse buys. It’s also where fans can take pictures with lifesize Janky and Guggimon characters set within a comical hijinks scene involving a truck and hot dog cart.
“We are really proud of this experience,” van Dijk says. “We’re excited about the potential and partnership with AREA15. I really think this can be a cool part of our business model going forward. Come play and have fun with us!”
Neon Museum collaboration celebrates the vivid history of Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas
By Las Vegas Magazine Staff
The Grand Gallery inside Las Vegas City Hall has hosted many art exhibits and more than a few previews and opening nights. Few have been as emblematic of Las Vegas as a cultural crossroads where artistic excellence and performance must balance with box office success as Stories from Backstage: Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas
A collaboration with Neon Museum, the limited-time exhibition delves deep into the evolution of athlete into artist, characters into costume concepts and fantasy into functional footwear.
“Whether you have seen a Cirque du Soleil show or not, this is relevant to you,” said Neon Museum executive director Aaron Berger
during the preview’s keynote speech on a windy night in February, where glow-getting museum members gathered along with VIPs such as Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley and Mike Newquist, Cirque du Soleil’s president of resident and affiliate shows.
Berger recognized chief curator and Neon Museum deputy director Sarah Hulme for coordinating the effort. “The Cirque du Soleil team worked tremendously hard with her team to bring forth the costume designers, the dressers, the stories, the oral histories,” he said before calling for a round of applause.
Every show in Cirque’s current Strip portfolio is represented at Stories, which runs through mid-July.

Iconic costuming such as the Red Bird from Mystère and Moonhead mask from “O” are featured. Makeup designs for Michael Jackson ONE are demonstrated and skin-matching swatches for bodysuits are beautifully displayed.
There are also instructions on how to juggle a person as featured in the acrobatic Icarian Games from Mad Apple, insights into what it’s like for athletes to transition from Olympic podium to performance, and a moving tribute to Dominique Lemieux, the accomplished costume designer who passed away last year.
The correlations between attention-grabbing neon and audience-dazzling costuming, or detailed resort interiors with Cirque stage productions, are made emphatically clear in the Grand Gallery exhibits.
“Everybody in the city that comes to City Hall on business has an opportunity to observe this extraordinary exhibit,” said Berkley after Newquist expressed his gratitude to the assembled guests. “Cirque is so much a part of Las Vegas and our history, and it’s absolutely breathtaking.”
She remarked how she’s seen every single production, and every

single time she returns she sees something different. Stories something different about Cirque du Soleil that people who may have only seen one or two shows can relate to. Audiences may see the athleticism, but may not be cognizant of the path of the podium-to-performance pipeline. They may be drawn into fantasy by fantastic characters but unaware of the expertise behind the processes of their creation.
Stories from Backstage: Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas lighten the intentional visitor along with passersby who happen upon the exhibition and are drawn in by the purposeful pageantry, elaborate displays and elaborative insights. It’s the right exhibition in the right place at the right time.
