British Invasion

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Pink Floyd’s fi lm Live at Pompeii in IMAX, and one thing continued to strike me while listening to the band’s music: For a relatively small nation geographically, Great Britain has produced a mind-boggling amount of truly great musicians. Go through the generations and you’ll see the enormous impact the music of U.K.-born artists continues to have on popular culture.

Two legendary musical acts from across the pond are performing in Las Vegas this week. Sir Rod Stewart, whose eclectic catalog includes everything from rock and ballads to swing and soul, returns for The Encore Shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace (“The Final Acclaim?” p. 32). And Coldplay, which is in the midst of a multiyear tour, stops at Allegiant Stadium for two days of what is sure to be a sold-out run (“Playing with Purpose,” p. 38).

And that’s just the beginning of the fun in store this week. Fans of the smash Hulu reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives won’t want to miss MomTok: The Unholy Tea, featuring the stars of the show, at The Venetian (“Talk the Tok,” p. 36 ). If you’ve got the family in tow, Blue Man Group over at Luxor, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is the perfect show (“Color by Numbers,” p. 16 ).

A Journey Worth Taking

History comes alive at this Strip attraction dedicated to fated ship’s tale

The Ship of Dreams is brought to life in an impressively curated space that tells the story of one of history’s most tragic tales. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition is a self-guided attraction that takes visitors through a series of themed rooms packed with more than 250 items brought to the surface from beneath the North Atlantic Ocean.

In April, in honor of the 113th anniversary of Titanic’s sinking, the exhibition unveiled a never-before-seen piece found in 1994. On display near the beginning of the tour, visitors can view the Kilroy stoking transmitter, a sophisticated piece of technology for 1912—the piece is what essentially regulated the heartbeat of Titanic. The Kilroy would transmit precise time signals to all the crew in the boiler rooms, telling them how long to allow the coal to burn before shoveling in a new load.

Every visitor begins their journey with a “Boarding Pass” with details on a specific passenger. As visitors continue the journey through the exhibition, a series of rooms hold re-creations of third- and first-class cabins, the Grand Staircase and the promenade deck. Read menus of meals served and view photos of dining halls, lounge areas and libraries.

Particularly striking is the Big Piece—a section of the outer hull from the C Deck cabin, rooms C-79 and C-80, which covered a suite of wardrobe rooms and private baths. This is the largest section of the Titanic ever put on display. Something about the broken glass still attached to the portholes brings about a haunting reminder of the rushing water that barreled through the portholes as the ship began to sink.

At the end, you encounter a large wall with names. It’s here you’ll find out whether the person on your Boarding Pass survived or perished. It’s a powerful moment. –Kiko Miyasato

Entertainment Innovations

This iconic showman uses technology in his hit Strip residency to travel back in time … in a manner of speaking

Donny Osmond has some favorite segments during his headlining show on the Las Vegas Strip. There’s the “Donny Rap,” the “Request Segment,” and the climactic part of the performance when inflated, blinking Donny Balls are pitched into the audience for celebratory volleying. The latest addition incorporates artificial intelligence, images of him at age 14 and his grandson to make something magical happen: Osmond duetting with his youthful “Puppy Love”-era self.

“That’s becoming another anchor point to the show,” says Osmond. “People have heard about it. They’ve read about it. They see it on YouTube and in interviews I’ve done. Then when that curtain opens up and you see this three-dimensional character that’s me 53 years ago … I hear the ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ coming from the audience.”

Two years in the making, Avatar Donny is a high-tech combination of Osmond’s face as it looked more than a half-century ago and his grandson Daxton, dressed as his grandfather did in the early ’70s when he was frequently featured on covers of teen idol magazines such as Tiger Beat.

He’s even wearing a cap that was a trademark back in the day. A fan sent it to him just for the video recording in New York, after which Osmond promptly returned it.

“When I’m looking into the eyes of myself, 53 years ago, can you imagine how strange that is? I’m looking in the mirror 53 years ago,” says Osmond.

So returning fans have something new to witness the next time they buy tickets. Due to the technology involved, Osmond needs to be on point during the segment with split-second timing. Other parts of the show are much more casual and spontaneous by design.

“That segment in my show that I call ‘The Request Segment,’ it’s 20 minutes of unknown,” says Osmond. “I don’t know where it’s gonna go, and like I’ve said in times past, it’s probably my favorite part of the show because it’s unknown…That’s why I love those parts of my show, because the audience is entertained in real time, if that makes any sense.”

Color by Numbers

Show has amassed impressive stats over 25 years

The 25th anniversary is typically associated with silver, but over at Luxor, it’s cobalt—cobalt blue, to be precise. One of the longest-running shows on the Las Vegas Strip, Blue Man Group is celebrating a quarter century of music, comedy, dancing and lots and lots of consuming of confections and noisy breakfast cereals.

The enduring appeal of the show stems from the childlike wonder of its protagonists as they discover the musical properties in everything around them. And the music they produce would be

right at home at Electric Daisy Carnival, as would their visuals. It’s one of the few shows in Vegas that all ages can enjoy, and it’s not unusual at all to see repeat visitors, many of whom are taking a friend or family member for the first time.

To put all this into perspective, consider the numbers for the show’s cast over the years:

65,000—gallons of paint used, much of it to cover the heads of the voiceless, infinitely inquisitive Blue Men. 52,000—number of drumsticks

used in the relentlessly percussive musical numbers. Some of those gallons of paint mentioned previously are used in the now-iconic sequence in which paint is poured onto drums, splattering it high into the air once the rhythms begin.

500,000—number of marshmallows the Blue Men have caught in their mouths, only to then remove everything they’ve caught, producing a solid, oddly-shaped (and hilarious) mass. –Ken Miller

Just What You Need

Leave this relaxing Las Vegas paradise feeling great

Thermal baths date back to prehistoric times, constructed near natural springs that eventually became destinations. Destinations eventually became resorts, places where visitors could “take the waters” with sojourns dedicated to rest and rehabilitation. By the time spa resorts began to appear in North America, the neoclassical era had set in and Rome was an inspiration for design and services, setting the stage for an evolution that would lead to destinations such as Qua Baths & Spa

If not visiting a spa while in Las Vegas is an oversight, not visiting Qua Baths & Spa while a guest at Caesars Palace might leave a stay incomplete. Entering Qua Baths & Spa means leaving the world behind and encountering a complex of Roman baths, steam rooms, an arctic ice room, massages, facials and fitness center. There is time to enjoy all aspects of Qua Baths & Spa, with the only decision being where to start.

The Roman baths make that decision easy. Three pools of varying temperatures are available for plunging, with the jet-powered body-temperature pool being quite addictive. Heated stone lounge chairs are another amenity that may make it

hard to leave the room, but there is more to experience. A cold blast of air is especially invigorating after a session in the sauna or newly renovated steam rooms, so don’t forget an excursion in the arctic ice room.

The body is now set for something special. This season, bespoke facials of 50 and 100 minutes includes and evaluation by an aesthetician, then treatment tailored to your skin, whether it be LED light therapy or another luxury offering. Or take advantage of the year-round signature massages such as body-and-skincare specialty Hourglass, sage-andsweet-grass Mojave Rain, three-option Nobu Zen and hot-and-cold therapeutic Leg Recovery Ritual.

Couples can choose from an exfoliating Couples Bliss Retreat and self-descriptive Himalayan Salt Stone. Custom massages, hot stone, sports massages, prenatal and CBD wellness options are available as well, as are eight facials. Whether aficionado or neophyte, Qua Baths & Spa is an evolutionary spa experience. Take the waters at the beginning or end of a Caesars stay, or both. –Las Vegas Magazine Staff

Hole-in-One Fun!

Mini golf experience combines nightlife elements

This is Las Vegas, so why would we do anything typical? We go over the top. And Swingers Las Vegas fits this aesthetic perfectly. It’s not just a mini golf course— it’s crazy golf, an activity made popular in Britain that combines mini golf, cocktails and elevated street food. “We thought, ‘What if we took a hugely fun and accessible activity like mini golf, created an immersive world around it, and made sure that the food, drink and service was second to none?’” said Swingers co-CEO and co-founder Matt Grech-Smith.

Golfers get to experience an immersive English countryside with multiple levels and four nine-hole courses. (If a caddie sees you make a hole-in-one, you might be awarded with a free shot!) The crazy golf vibes continue with the elevated street food options, including burgers and a Detroit-style pizza Grech-Smith boldly claims might be the best on the Strip! Next up are the cocktails—a huge menu of specialty sips, including the popular espresso martini with Ketel One, St. George Nola coffee liqueur, Tempus Fugit

crème de cacao a la vanille and espresso. (Flag down a caddie and order any drink on any of the courses.)

Extras (like we said, this is Vegas after all) include a lounge area where DJs perform and multiple bar areas. On the top floor, you’ll find an old-school carnival experience, with classic games like ring toss and Skee-ball, where you can collect tickets to exchange for Swingers-branded merch. –Kiko Miyasato

Applause for Paws

Cute meets comedy at this family-friendly romp

So you’ve brought the whole family down to the desert and now you need something everyone will love? Look no further than Popovich Comedy Pet Theater, a long-running show which features more than 30 house pets, including dogs, cats, parrots and so much more.

A fantastic option for families with little ones, this show is so freakin’ cute. The cast of critters and their human handlers put on lighthearted and funny skits that will keep even the squirmiest little ones engaged.

While it’s impressive enough to see the well-trained animals execute their roles perfectly, the show’s main character, Gregory Popovich (who you may recognize from America’s Got Talent) also pulls off various classic circus acts like juggling way too many objects to count, balancing on a free-standing ladder and doing both of those things at the same time!

Just wait until you witness a dog riding a Shetland pony or a cat jumping through hoops—you’ll be amazed. And the best part is that each animal

in the show has been rescued from an animal shelter and taught tricks and routines that align with their natural inclinations.

After the show, stop in the lobby to not only pet some of the stars of the show (seriously, Popovich’s cats are total love bugs), but also to meet and greet with the man himself and have him sign copies of his books about how to train animals. –Em Jurbala

Bottle It Up!

Nevada spirits offer a unique view to the past and future

If local sounds good to you, and you enjoy a slightly stiffer side to your drinks, check out the distilleries operating in Las Vegas. Each produces a delicious product (or products), and you’ll find them in drinks all over the valley.

If you’re downtown at The Mob Museum , one of the coolest historical exhibits around, stop into The Speakeasy in The Underground, where you can get house-made beer and cocktails like the Moonshine Mayhem, which features pineapple, tea, cardamom and moonshine. The Distillery Exhibit in The Underground is not only a cool glimpse into 1920s Prohibition culture, it produces The Mob Museum Moonshine—Las Vegas corn whiskey, which is the moonshine used in Moonshine Mayhem. (A distillery tasting can be added on the Deluxe and Premier museum passes).

The Las Vegas Distillery in the Artisan Booze District in Henderson also showcases the history behind the company, where tours take you through the distillery with your guide explaining what’s going on in each of the shining tanks. You’ll sample different spirits at different stages, engaging your tactile and olfactory senses. Stacks and stacks of barrels await bottling on the small line before you exit to a plush tasting room to chill out, have a cocktail and enjoy some tasty eats. The distillery recently released its first gin, which

you can find in the Temple of Bloom, a cocktail for two with elderflower, lemon, rosemary, cucumber and lemon plus Fever-Tree Sicilian lemonade.

And if you can’t make it to one of those, you can try another Vegas distillery’s product in cocktails all over the Strip. Nevada H&C Distillery ’s Smoke Wagon Whiskey, found in the Arts District, is a spirit with a distinctive, delicious flavor. Head to Prohibition Bar 1923, where you can sip on the uncut, unfiltered bourbon alone, or include it in a flight. (Although H&C does not currently hold tours, hopes are that this year will see that happen.)

You’ll also find other distilleries throughout the great state of Nevada. Close to Las Vegas (about an hour or so away, depending on traffic) in Pahrump is the Desert Cane Distillery, where rums are the star, all distilled with sugar cane grown on the

family farm. The super-cute tasting room offers a variety of inventive, rumbased cocktails like the root beer float and daiquiris.

Farther north in the state is Frey Ranch , where the grains and corns used in the popular spirits (a recent release of its Harvester Series: 10th Anniversary Edition, 121.14 proof with whiskey as old as seven and a half years, sold out in minutes), are also grown on a family farm. On the farm in Fallon, you’ll find a sweet tasting room where 30-minute tours are offered Saturdays from noon-4 p.m. In Las Vegas, Frey Ranch is a favored spirit in many cocktails, and you can sample the bourbon in the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian in Rockhouse’s Oak Room. This is definitely worth a few minutes, or a few hours, of your time.  –Nina King

General manager provides that old-school Vegas experience

Think of a slick, old-school Las Vegas steakhouse and a manager that fits that vibe perfectly. Welcome to Phil’s Steak House at Treasure Island, run by general manager Sal Cavalcante.

Cavalcante is one of those managers that makes a memorable impression; he puts his staff and guests first, and he’s not afraid to crack a joke or two. “You gotta like what you’re doing, you gotta like people,” says the Brooklyn native. “It’s about making someone happy, making

Cavalcante has been “cool” for decades. He spent many years in Florida managing a nightclub and restaurants before moving to Las Vegas and spending more than a decade working for Caesars Entertainment at properties like Paris Las Vegas, Rio Las Vegas and Bally’s. “You

Crossroads Kitchen delivers a fine-dining twist

If it weren’t for a few words and phrases on the Crossroads Kitchen menu, you might not know that the fine-dining destination has something that sets it apart from others. That something is that the menu is entirely plantbased, from the “calamari” to the “filet.”

You certainly wouldn’t guess from appearances that there was any kind of difference between Crossroads Kitchen and other fine-dining establishments; the décor brings together burgundy booths, blue chairs and accent walls and wood tones throughout. In the center of the space, a wooden wine tower rises. Even the bar’s curves exude elegance; it’s worth grabbing a cocktail before your reservation, and all the ingredients are plant-based.

Classic appetizers like the calamari fritti, created with oyster mushrooms and served with lemon and a spicy diablo sauce, are, like all fried products, almost impossible to quit snacking on. Speaking of Impossible, the plant-based product is used in Impossible cigars, a meat-filled, crispy phyllo wrapper served with a spicy almond milk yogurt for dipping, and in meatballs with marinara and ricotta cheese. Please note that all the cheeses are plant-based as well, making this meal a vegan’s delight. Other apps to keep in mind include

Crossroads offers two tasting menus showcasing some of the restaurant’s best dishes. These menus must be ordered by the whole table, and the seven-course tasting menu also includes a Crossroads Cookbook and a brush with the chef as he shaves truffles on the fifth course (mushroom agnolotti).

squash blossoms, delicate morsels stuffed with ricotta and slightly fried, and sweet pea arancini with Meyer lemon aioli.

There are plenty of salads to be had, like this version of a wedge, with cherry tomatoes, pickled onions, house-made blue cheese dressing and Umaro bacon, which imparts a smokiness to each bite.

Fans of Italian food will be delighted to discover plenty of pizzas and pasta here, like the truffle mushroom bianca, a yummy white pizza. If you like meat on your pizza, both pepperoni and sausage versions are available.

Pastas cover plenty of options, from fettuccine and truffles with fresh-shaved truffles and truffle butter (can’t you smell the fragrance?) to spicy rigatoni with vodka sauce. The lasagna Bolognese also uses Impossible meat, layered with pasta sheets and béchamel sauce, while carrot gnocchetti comes with spring peas and agrumato, a citrusy olive oil that creates a delightful taste.

It’s with the entrées that the real genius of Crossroads’ chefs truly shines. These are not only delicious but really seem to emulate a classic main—for instance, the eggplant filet. This thing truly looks like a meat filet, and even the density seems similar. And it tastes soooo good, accented with a mushroom bordelaise sauce and served with mashed potatoes. Other good options include the lion’s mane steak, which also elicits that feel of meat. Scallopini comes in several options. But the heirloom butter beans will also impress on their own, with kale, oven-roasted tomatoes and Parmesan cheese adding lots of flavor.

Whether ’s ‘Encore Shows’ are his last in Vegas remains to be seen

Social media was absolutely abuzz on May 3 when Lady Gaga commanded a crowd of 2.5 million during a free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. Surely, many mused, this had to be the largest gathering at a concert in history. But as the fact-checkers at CNN and other outlets were quick to point out, not so fast! In 1994, another performer held a concert on the same beach and drew a crowd of 3.5 million. That performer? Sir Rod Stewart, a man who, at 80, truly has nothing more to prove to the world.

Not that any of that matters, mind you. Stewart may have nothing more to prove, but he’s clearly in love with performing live shows, illustrated by the fact that, even though his Las Vegas residency was scheduled to end last year, he added even more shows. And it’s a safe bet that The Encore Shows, which conclude this week at The Colosseum, may still not be the final word.

Stewart has proven to be a creatively restless soul his entire career, much to the delight of his fans who are always wondering what’s coming next. His work with The Je Beck Group and Faces in the 1960s only hinted at the eclectic catalog he would end up producing as a solo artist over the next few decades. If Stewart had only produced music in the 1970s, he would still be regarded as one of the all-time greats, topping charts and winning hearts with classics like “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright),” “Hot Legs,” “You’re in My Heart (The Final Acclaim)” and “Sailing.” But

the great Brit has managed to top that and then some, producing some great ballads with “Rhythm of My Heart” and “All For Love.”

His progression to covering the Great American Songbook in the early 2000s only helped to enlarge his legion of fans—in 2008, he was ranked the 17th most successful artists on Billboard ’s Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists.

His success at standards inspired him to delve even deeper into the classics. He found the same level of success in 2006 with Still the Same … Great Rock Classics of Our Time, covering everything from REM’s “Love Hurts” to The Pretenders’ “I’ll Stand by You.” He’d give the same treatment to Motown and Philly Soul three years later with Soulbook, with similar successful results.

Fast-forward to 2024, with the release of “Swing Fever,” Stewart’s chart-topping nod to swing era standards like “Lullaby of Broadway,” “Oh Marie,” “Pennies From Heaven” and “Ain’t Misbehavin’.”

All this is a long way of saying Stewart has a ridiculous well of singles to choose from as part of The Encore Shows. If the intent of this show is truly to encapsulate the spirit of an encore, it seems like a safe bet that it’s going to be the songs fans really came to hear. That means “Maggie May,” “Forever Young,” “You Wear It Well,” “Young Turks” and “The First Cut is the Deepest” will all be delivered in the raspy, emotional style that is Stewart’s own.

MomTok: The Unholy Tea brings drama, commentary and secrets to the Strip

The reality show that broke Hulu’s viewership record for an unscripted premiere is back—and for one night, you can see the stars of the show live! Hot o the May 15 premiere of the second season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, the MomTok crew is returning to Vegas, this time to put on a bit of a spectacle.

The first season of the everpopular series followed a cast of mom-fluencers who largely identify as Mormon, though they participate in the religion di erently (and some not at all). This seemingly close-knit group of friends found popularity on TikTok for its family-focused content until facing controversy after MomTok member Taylor Frankie Paul posted a video exposing the group’s scandalous behaviors. The show picks up right after Paul’s bombshell post and depicts its cast trying to navigate working as influencers while participating in Mormon culture.

“I think that’s the cool thing about our show is, yes, we were all raised Mormon, but some are more active than others,” MomTok influencer Jessi Ngatikaura (pictured far left) said in an exclusive interview with Las Vegas Magazine. “Some of us have left the church and you kind of see that in the show. Some of us are more open to drinking alcohol or doing, you know, crazy things that Mormons wouldn’t normally do, and I think … that we’re gonna be able to resonate with someone, whether it’s our story, or our personality, or our religion.”

While every episode is jam-packed with drama, one of the final episodes of the season takes place right here in Sin City, and viewers get to once again watch some of the women struggle to find balance between participating in popular culture and upholding their traditional values. No spoilers, but as you might expect, the main event involves a girls’ night out, shirtless male dancers and a not-sohappy-about-it spouse.

That brings us here—the week the wives return to the city for MomTok: The Unholy Tea, a live show featuring Paul, Ngatikaura, Mikayla Matthews, Mayci Neeley, Jennifer A eck and Layla Taylor. This being the group’s first engagement, there’s no end to the possibility for surprises and shenanigans, but one thing is sure: This is an entertaining bunch.

“I think the reason our show is so popular is because we’re genuinely all friends and we have amazing banter in chemistry, so seeing that live I’m hoping will translate well,” Ngatikaura says. “We do have something called sinner Sunday confessionals, and that was a big part of the show. It kind of created some drama, so the fans are gonna have a chance to submit their own confessions that we’re reading onstage.”

What tea might be spilled remains to be seen, but for invested fans and curious onlookers alike, this will be a must-see event. Expect pop-culture commentary, candid roundtables and interactive games that will keep the energy high and possibly expose secrets you won’t find anywhere else.

Contribute

to Coldplay’s massive sustainability initiative when you see the band live

The first time I had ever listened to Coldplay, it played from my dad’s iPod Touch. Loaded onto the now seemingly archaic hand-me-down mp3 player was “Clocks,” a beautiful arrangement of piano melodies and momentous rock sounds that I would lie in bed and listen to over and over again. Something about how the instrumentals built to these powerful crescendos, then settled to allow Chris Martin’s powerful yet relaxed vocals to come to the forefront, just tickled my eardrums. It fascinated me how much a collection of sounds could be so magical, even through the less-than-comfortable circular earbuds Apple provided with its products at the time.

Surely, I’m not alone in feeling the power of Coldplay’s music. The band is one of the world’s biggest music acts, with tens of millions of fans gathering globally to experience its incredible discography live. How could listeners resist the opportunity to hear this dreamy, ethereal, psychedelic music in person? It’s the kind of music one must experience live.

The band stops in Las Vegas on its Music of the Spheres World Tour, which began in 2022. A tour this long that’s sold more than 12 million tickets internationally would be enough to be considered a feat on its own, but it has also been very carefully and consciously planned.

6 p.m. June 6-7, starting at $265 plus tax and fee. ticketmaster.com

With sustainability initiatives in place, the band made its intentions clear and set an example for other artists who may disregard the ecological impact touring efforts cause. In fact, the Music of the Spheres World Tour began in Costa Rica, because 99 percent of the nation’s power grid is sourced by renewable energy. According to its website, the band set the goal to produce 50 percent of its previous 2016-’17 tour’s CO2 emissions (and it succeeded in its first two years, with emissions down 59 percent). That’s required measures like installing solar facilities where possible, using renewable diesel made from hydrotreated vegetable oil, and kinetic energy systems that allow the movement of fans to power the show, among other measures. That means busting out your best dance move actually helps power the show and contributes to its eco-friendly mission.

Naturally, a worldwide tour that necessitates travel and shipping equipment from continent to continent still produces a gargantuan carbon footprint, but for every ticket sold, Coldplay sponsors the planting and protection of one tree. So this tour alone is responsible for millions of new trees.

One of the ways Coldplay encourages fans to participate in reducing the tour’s environmental impact is to arrive at the show by foot, rideshare or public transportation—modes of travel that are considered more sustainable than driving individually. To participate in doing so from the Strip, use the tram system or the monorail to get from your hotel to Mandalay Bay. Then walk across the Hacienda Bridge to the stadium. Or carpool with your friends to nearby WSKY Stadium, a restaurant and parking garage where you can have a nice meal and beer before walking over to the stadium.

Neon Museum collaboration celebrates the vivid history of Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas

The Grand Gallery inside Las Vegas City Hall has hosted many art exhibits and more than a few previews and opening nights. Few have been as emblematic of Las Vegas as a cultural crossroads where artistic excellence and performance must balance with box o ce success as Stories from Backstage: Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas

during the preview’s keynote speech on a windy night in February, where glow-getting museum members gathered along with VIPs such as Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley and Mike Newquist, Cirque du Soleil’s president of resident and a liate shows.

A collaboration with Neon Museum, the limited-time exhibition delves deep into the evolution of athlete into artist, characters into costume concepts and fantasy into functional footwear.

“Whether you have seen a Cirque du Soleil show or not, this is relevant to you,” said Neon Museum executive director Aaron Berger

Berger recognized chief curator and Neon Museum deputy director Sarah Hulme for coordinating the e ort. “The Cirque du Soleil team worked tremendously hard with her team to bring forth the costume designers, the dressers, the stories, the oral histories,” he said before calling for a round of applause.

Every show in Cirque’s current Strip portfolio is represented at Stories, which runs through mid-June.

Iconic costuming such as the Red Bird from Mystère and Moonhead mask from “O” are featured. Makeup designs for Michael Jackson ONE are demonstrated and skin-matching swatches for bodysuits are beautifully displayed.

There are also instructions on how to juggle a person as featured in the acrobatic Icarian Games from Mad Apple, insights into what it’s like for athletes to transition from Olympic podium to performance, and a moving tribute to Dominique Lemieux, the accomplished costume designer who passed away last year.

The correlations between attention-grabbing neon and audience-dazzling costuming, or detailed resort interiors with Cirque stage productions, are made emphatically clear in the Grand Gallery exhibits.

“Everybody in the city that comes to City Hall on business has an opportunity to observe this extraordinary exhibit,” said Berkley after Newquist expressed his gratitude to the assembled guests. “Cirque is so much a part of Las Vegas and our history, and it’s absolutely breathtaking.”

She remarked how she’s seen every single production, and every

single time she returns she sees something di erent. Stories something di erent about Cirque du Soleil that people who may have only seen one or two shows can relate to. Audiences may see the athleticism, but may not be cognizant of the path of the podium-to-performance pipeline. They may be drawn into fantasy by fantastic characters but unaware of the expertise behind the processes of their creation.

Stories from Backstage: Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas aims to enlighten the intentional visitor along with passersby who happen upon the exhibition and are drawn in by the purposeful pageantry, elaborate displays and elaborative insights. It’s the right exhibition in the right place at the right time.

Start the spring season by indulging in some of the most photoworthy and absolutely delicious sweet treats available on the Las Vegas Strip. We’ve done the research (in other words, we ate them all!), and we encourage you to do the same. Peruse these sugary delights and then hit the town and try them all for yourself.

Custard and Berries Croissant

Every recipe at Zeppola Café is an Italian family recipe. The owners set up shop first in New York City with their bakery and then expanded to Las Vegas. Now Zeppola o ers other eats besides sweet baked goods. (Can we stop for a minute and mention that they o er one of the best espresso martinis you will ever have?!)

PistachioCroissant

But at 4 a.m. every day, the sta is up in Zeppola Café’s kitchen whipping up those fresh-made desserts, and we’ve picked three of our favorites: the Custard and Berries Croissant, with a creamy custard inside a flaky buttery croissant and topped with fresh berries; the popular Pistachio Croissant, filled with a pistachio cream imported from Italy; and, let’s just say it, the droolworthy Cube Croissant, shaped into a cube and filled with mascarpone cream from Italy, topped with cocoa powder, white chocolate and a lady finger biscotti. This dessert is inspired by the classic tiramisu and each bite is to die for! Seriously!

Buddy’s Cake,

Chef Buddy Valastro helped put Hoboken, N.J., on the map when he shared with the world his flair for baking, and he brings those talents to Las Vegas with . Inside the small shop, inspired by the one in his hometown, you’ll find all his signature goodies. Two classic Italian desserts really shine here: the Lobster Tail, made with a crispy, flaky crust and filled with a French cream made with a little touch of Bailey’s; and the classic Cannolis, all filled with a madein-house sweet ricotta cheese with a hint of cinnamon and chocolate chips (take your choice of assorted flavors like birthday cake, peanut butter chocolate and classic). And, of course, there’s perhaps Buddy’s most famous baked treat, his Vanilla Rainbow Cake, where each layer of vanilla cake is a di erent color. It’s frosted with a vanilla buttercream.

Hershey’s Chocolate Brownie Sandwich

Hershey’s Cookies’N’ CremeCookie Sandwich

Most people visit Hershey’s Chocolate World to, well, check out the world of candies and chocolates that the brand makes—and man, oh man, there are a lot of options and even special editions of your favorites. But the real treat here is the bakery section of the massive store. This writer personally can’t visit without perusing the bakery cases and leaving with something. The sweet treats that line the cases

look so irresistible and delicious you might not want to choose just one, so we’ve helped you out by picking three yummy choices: The Hershey’s Chocolate Brownie

Sandwich is filled with decadent chocolate cream; the Hershey’s Cookies ’N’ Creme Cookie Sandwich version is filled with crunchy chocolate cookie pieces; and the marriage of peanut butter and chocolate live a sweet life in the Reese’s Peanut Butter Brownie, loaded with peanut butter and Hershey’s chocolate and topped with Reese’s Pieces.

we doughnut topped with crushed sprinkling

Talk about one of the most Instagrammable spaces in all of Las is a darling, gardenlike café, and its menu is filled with photoworthy yet totally delicious treats. Mainly known for its giant list of unbelievably delicious and unique co ee and drink treats, we found yummy desserts, too, all made fresh daily and in house: the signature Rose Cookie, a sugar cookie topped with a rose made of sweet vanilla frosting; the rich Oreo Donut, a chocolate doughnut topped with crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (perfect for vegans); and the best-selling Basque Cheesecake, a mini cheesecake topped with fresh blueberries and strawberries with raspberry jam on the bottom and a sprinkling of gold flakes.

Instagram loves

There are so many cute things here to post about, from the décor to the merch to the sweet treats. But let’s pause on the sweet treats, because you’ll not only want to upload pictures of them to Insta and TikTok, you’ll also want to munch on the treats created especially for the world’s most famous cat! (Is she really a cat, though?) Go classic with the Hello Kitty Cupcake, a rich red velvet cupcake topped with cream cheese frosting, pink and white chocolate shavings and edible glitter and an edible character made out of fondant. The Keroppi Donut, based on a favorite character of many, is a flu y pastry filled with a light custardlike pastry cream and topped with a sugar glaze and fondant character. Our favorite is the Taiyaki Wa e Cone, filled with creamy vanilla and strawberry soft serve, which pairs divinely with the mochi-based wa e

cream cheese frosting, pink topped with a sugar glaze and cone that is chewy and crunchy and lip-smacking delicious.
