Having lived in Las Vegas since 2003, I’m continually amazed at how quickly we became a sports town. Yes, we had boxing for decades before I got here, but now we have football, hockey, the WNBA and, very soon, Major League Baseball. It’s not a stretch to say that, any week of the year you decide to schedule your vacation in Las Vegas, odds are you’ll be able to snag tickets to a sporting event of some sort.
Case in point: This week at Mandalay Bay, you can watch tennis’ biggest stars go head to head in The MGM Rewards Slam, a two-day event that features the top men and women in the sport (“Nothing But Aces,” p. 14).
If you’re not a big sports fan, not a problem whatsoever! There’s plenty of entertainment options for you to consider:
• For live music fans, Garth Brooks returns to his Plus ONE residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace (“By Request Live,” p. 30), while Mary J. Blige prepares for a one-night-only performance at T-Mobile Arena (“Continuing Her Reign,” p. 36 ).
• If you’re a fan of cocktails and lounges, we’ve got two premier destinations featured in this week’s issue: The brand-new Caspian’s Rock & Roe at Caesars Palace, which features high-end libations and a great caviar program (“Reimagining a Classic,” p. 21); and Legacy Club at Circa Resort & Casino, which not only boasts great drinks, but perhaps some of the best views in town (“A Heightened Experience,” p. 16 ).
• Looking for a great meal? Defi nitely check out the Indian cuisine at Tamba at Town Square Las Vegas (“Flavor For Days,” p. 28) and the varied menu at Carversteak at Resorts World Las Vegas (“Higher Steaks,” p. 12).
Whatever your plans are this week, enjoy!

Higher Steaks
Meat might be the star attraction, but this Strip restaurant caters to every palate—including vegan
Carversteak might appear at first glance to just be a steakhouse, but that descriptor is selling it seriously short. This restaurant from Carver Road Hospitality has a little bit of everything for every taste—there’s even a vegan menu!
The room itself is simply massive, with a cushy lobby and bar flanked by a dining room tucked back on one side, and private dining rooms on the other, as well as an expanded enclosed patio in the rear. And on one wall of one of the private rooms is a gorgeous display of high-end knives, perfect for this venue.
Start your meal with either a signature starter like everything spiced brioche, warm bleu cheese bread and Vermont butter or an ounce of caviar— your choice of Siberian, golden Kaluga or ossetra. Whatever you order, make sure to pair it with a cocktail like the Spiced Alibi, featuring Patrón silver tequila, Grand Marnier, Lustau East India sherry, verjus blanc, mulling spices, rooibos and saline.
There’s an enormous shellfish and raw bar menu, highlighted by yellowtail sashimi, giant tiger prawns and Alaskan king crab, but don’t skip over the wide array of entrées like lobster en croute,
wrapped in puff pastry with lobstercognac cream, Jidori chicken breast or Colorado lamb chop. And, of course, the remarkable steak program, featuring everything from filet mignon and boneless ribeye to Australian wagyu and tomahawk. Sides like beer-battered onion rings, roasted mushrooms and mac and cheese gratin are all stellar accompaniments.
Now about that vegan menu … fans of plant-based cuisine will be thrilled with the selection. Appetizers include chickpea fries with cilantro and jalapeño lime dip and “calamari” made with king trumpet mushrooms and served with sweet peppers and tomato sauce, while main courses include a vegan chop made with organic grains and legumes and served with broccolini and roasted tomatoes, as well as Binchotan grilled eggplant, served with a tofu and garlic confit purée and chili umami crunch.
For dessert, go with the Baked Nevada, a beast made with mixed berry sorbet, toasted meringue and coconut lime cake that feeds up to six. –Ken Miller

Nothing But Aces
Some
of tennis’ biggest stars come to the Strip for two days of action-packed
competition
One of the biggest Las Vegas-based sporting events last year was the inaugural Netfl ix Slamat Mandalay Bay’s Michelob Ultra Arena. The tennis competition, in which Rafael Nadal faced o against Carlos Alcaraz in a three-set match, ended in a nail-biting tie break in favor of Alcaraz—and a great promotion of both Vegas and Netfl ix as a sports streaming platform.
The event’s success has led to another star-studded tennis event this week: The MGM Rewards Slam
The two-day event, also at the Ultra Michelob Arena, features the world’s No. 1 men’s and women’s tennis players, along with other highly ranked professionals in what is sure to be an exciting, competitive weekend:
• On Saturday, Aryna Sabalenka, ranked No. 1 in women’s singles by the Women’s Tennis Association, takes on former No. 1 Naomi Osaka. Sabalenka has won a combined 23 career titles in singles and doubles, and is the two-time reigning Australian Open champion, while Osaka has earned four Grand Slam titles (her fi rst two came back to back at the 2018 U.S. Open and 2019 Australian Open).
• Sunday features a four-player competition featuring Jannik Sinner, currently ranked as the world’s No. 1 in men’s singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (the fi rst Italian to reach the top ranking), No. 2-ranked Alexander Zverev, pictured right, No. 4-ranked Taylor Fritz, pictured left, and No. 9-ranked Tommy Paul. Sinner has won 19 singles titles on the ATP Tour, including three majors, four Masters 1000 titles and the 2024 ATP Finals. Zverev has won 23 ATP Tour titles in singles and two in doubles. He also won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
“The 2024 ‘Netfl ix Slam’ at Mandalay Bay was a huge success and one of our most entertaining sporting events of the year,” said Lance Evans, MGM Resorts’ senior vice president of Sports and Sponsorships. “We anticipate creating another memorable event experience as tennis fans worldwide will enjoy watching the sport’s best players compete at the highest level in Las Vegas.” –Ken Miller

A Heightened Experience
Rooftop lounge offers all the little extras, along with amazing views
It truly is a big-energy moment when you step off the elevator onto the 60th floor and enter a night of revelry at the impressive Legacy Club. This rooftop lounge not only sports the most incredible views of the Las Vegas valley, but the indoor-outdoor lounge offers a top-notch cocktail program, plush seating, groovy live music and DJs and themed parties throughout the year, so there’s always a reason to go back.
For an extra-special experience, book the Sunset Package. You and your guests
will enjoy a table out on the expansive patio while sipping on handcrafted cocktails. When the sun starts to set, you’ll get a glass of champagne in hand to toast the day turning into night. You can also book the fireplace seating option for six—a firepit surrounded by oversized club chairs, views of the city and a dedicated VIP server for the evening.
Some sights around the lounge to make note of are the 1,000 ounces of real gold in the form of 500 custom bars that are stored in a special see-through
sealed case and a room adorned with metal busts of some of Las Vegas’ most notable founding fathers of the city. Some extras to make note of include the nonalcoholic cocktails—the bar staff at Legacy Club loves to whip up delicious recipes for nondrinkers, and the cigar menu offers brands like Montecristo, Ashton Monarch, Cohiba, Rocky Patel and Patron. –Kiko Miyasato

Strip revue always finds ways to keep it fresh with new numbers and faces
Change happens slowly at Fantasy: The Strip’s Sexiest Tease. The dancers like working there under the auspices of founder Anita Mann, the gig itself is a dream job for trained dancers, and the performers form bonds that last long after their lives move in different directions.
Eventually it’s time to change, though, and Mann decided that Fantasy was ready for some new dance numbers to go along with new faces. Fans of alluring Abby, statuesque Ashton and magnetic Mariah can rest assured many of their favorite dancers are still part of the show, although zesty Yesi has moved on up to helm another danceinvolving show.
That made room for some amazing new talent. Aerial silks artist Jenyne Butterfly performed a gravitydefying number to “Feeling Good” at the 25th anniversary performance in October. Pole dancer Yuliia Trushnya made mid-air magic during “I Put a Spell on You,” a vocal highlight by emcee Lorena Peril. Shealagh, the newest cast member, is a graceful and gracious featured solo dancer, trained aerialist and gymnast from Massachusetts
who was Showgirl of the Month in August.
“It’s been a big undertaking,” says Mann. “Normally, every year I change a number. We just want to keep the show kind of fresh and do whatever we can, but this year I said ‘Guys, are you ready?’”
Mann enlisted choreographer Mandy Moore to create new opening and closing numbers. “She choreographed La La Land,” says Mann. “She just choreographed The Eras Tour. She’s Taylor Swift’s choreographer and director. She did that fun number on the Oscars, ‘I’m Just Ken.’ She’s a really talented person and we’ve known each other for years working together in other capacities.”
Other contributors include Cris Judd, Tiger Martina and Yesi, who directed the steps during country number “Here for the Party.” Mann herself collaborated with Peril for salsa-flavored “Hips Don’t Lie,” in which Brazilian singer-guitarist Thiago Gusi participated via jumbo screen during Fantasy ’s 25th anniversary party. –Matt Kelemen

Sensational Sound
This timeless group brings its greatest hits to the Strip
It may seem like Chicago is enjoying a career resurgence, but the brass-driven band has never taken a break substantial enough to be considered a hiatus. Chicago is one of the few acts that performed every year during the pandemic, playing The Venetian in 2020 right before the stages of the Strip went dark and returning to the concert circuit in June 2021.
“We are so blessed to have enjoyed a legacy that seems still to be a timeless one,” said trombonist and founding member James Pankow in an exclusive
interview with Las Vegas Magazine. “And it’s about this music. Never in our wildest dreams would we have expected this music to become so much of a soundtrack (to the lives) of millions and millions of people. We are, over a half a century later, doing sell-out business. People can’t get enough of this stuff.”
“This stuff” started out when Chicago college students Pankow, saxophonist Walter Parazaider, trumpet player Lee Loughnane, keyboardist Robert Lamm and guitarist Terry Kath teamed up with
drummer Danny Seraphine to form a band that would become Chicago Transit Authority.
Bassist Peter Cetera completed the band’s classic lineup, and they released their debut in 1968, setting in motion a decadeslong career that continues today. –Matt Kelemen

Reimagining a Classic
Caviar gets a new reputation at a new bar and lounge
Caspian’s Rock & Roe, a new hot spot on the Strip, offers a balanced blend of high-endmeets-casual party vibes. The venue’s reputation is business in the front (the spacious, modern décor lounge open to the casino floor) and party in the back (the hidden speakeasy where guests can hear live rock ’n’ roll).
Let’s talk caviar first. It’s always been considered a froufrou food, but at Caspian’s the experience is enjoyably casual. Dip into menu options like Caspian’s Chips and Dip (Kaluga caviar and house-made French onion dip served with a can of Pringles), fun little mini Maine lobster rolls topped with caviar, bite-sized crunchy corn tacos filled with blue crab and topped with Kaulga caviar, and deviled eggs topped with— you guessed it—caviar.
And caviar bumps, all the rage now on social media, are indeed available at Caspian’s. It’s such a fun, rock ’n’ roll way to consume the salty delicacy.
Cocktails share the spotlight in equal measure at Caspian’s. The recipes are unique and flavorful, and we suggest starting with the “Fig”ure of Your Imagination, made with bourbon and fig jam, or the Feet in the Sand, made with Patron silver coconut-washed tequila and banana liqueur with a toasted coconut sugar rim. For an over-the-top cocktail, ask your server to add a caviar-stuffed olive garnish.
Don’t miss out on the music in the speakeasy. Live rock ’n’ roll bands take the stage Tuesday through Wednesday and Friday and Saturday, and you can be the rock star on Thursdays with Caviar Karaoke. –Kiko Miyasato

Yelena Anter
It all comes back to The King. We sat down with Yelena Anter, beverage development manager at Westgate Las Vegas, inside Velvet Bar at the resort and asked her how she ended up creating cocktail programs for the entire property.
“I am a huge Elvis fan,” she said. “The whole reason I am in Vegas, the United States, even Westgate, is because of Elvis.” Growing up in Russia in the ’80s, it was forbidden to have anything American, but her dad managed to get a bootleg record of Elvis’ music. “I listened
to that record till you couldn’t play it anymore,” Anter said. “That’s how I first learned English. And in the ’90s as American movies became available, I watched Viva Las Vegas and I had a dream that I wanted to come to Las Vegas, no matter what.”
So, she did, at just 19 years old. When she turned 21, she landed her first bartending job and continued to nurture her newfound love for creating cocktails. Anter set her sights on working at Westgate Las Vegas (the unofficial home

“If I saw a glimpse of where I am at now 25 years ago, I would probably not believe my eyes. It’d be like a movie. It’s fascinating to me that my path, here I am—the home of Elvis. It gives me goose bumps.” –Kiko Miyasato

Tamba Las Vegas reimagines
Indian cuisine with delectable results
By Kiko Miyasato
Indian cuisine is vibrant, rich—one might even say sultry—and recipes are filled with flavors that saturate the taste buds. Enticed yet? Well, make your way to Tamba Las Vegas at Town Square, a newly opened Indian restaurant that adds contemporary touches and artful presentations to the traditional dining experience. Tamba long held court on the Las Vegas Strip before closing years ago, but thankfully for many a tourist and local alike, the restaurant, helmed by restaurateur Sunny Dhillon and executive chef Anand Singh, has found a new home. The home? A beautiful, thoughtfully designed space with a minimalist, upscale feel made up of a 60-seat bar and lounge soundtracked by a DJ spinning out downtempo tunes and a lively main dining room.
Start the Tamba Las Vegas experience by perusing the cocktail menu—an art book-like menu with stories that tell the tales of the cocktails you’ll be
drinking. It must be acknowledged that the combination of ingredients within the cocktails are beyond creative and intriguing. One favorite is the deliciously curious Crown Lassi Luxe, made with Tahitian vanilla bean-infused vodka, cream, sugar, soda and Alphonso mango topped with rose dust and crushed pistachios. The Peacock Martini probably best demonstrates the creativity

that director of beverage Giuseppe Gonzalez brought to the menu. The cocktail is made using a pousse caféstyle technique, meaning the ingredients are layered on one another—it’s mixed with gin, citrus solution and vapor-distilled house tonic syrup.
Now that your taste buds and interests are piqued, dive into a divine menu of traditional dishes with contemporary
twists, beginning with a delightful threesome of specialty naan (garlic cilantro, goat cheese and togarashi and black truffle and fluer del sel). Must-order starters include the traditional baked samosa chaat, this version with the puff pastry filled with masala potatoes and green peas, served with drops of pomegranate seeds and a chickpea curry. The spiced tamarind hamachi,
Indian tuna crudo and mixed sashimi platter all cool and spark the palate. And the sea bass Amritsari is made with pieces of fried sea bass served with a mint salsa and kimchi salad.
Main dishes include the Indian rice staple biryani with chicken, vegetables or goat. Don’t miss the dishes made in a traditional charcoal-fired josper, a cooking contraption that is a cross between a grill and oven. Go vegetarian with the bhuna gobi, a cut of bright purple cauliflower resting in a to-die-for green coconut curry and broccoli purée with a touch of Japanese chili oil. Or go with the carnivore option, 10 ounces of angara-spiced New York wagyu sauced with saffron porcini mushrooms and a balsamic curry glaze. The seafood route has a don’t-miss tawa charred octopus with beetroot and chat aioli. Traditional wok-cooked dishes and curries with herbs and spices shipped from India round out the menu.
For dessert, order the already-popular matcha ras malai, made with the traditional cheese flat dumplings that have been amped up with pistachio, lime mango cream and berries.

Garth Brooks heads toward the final shows of his covers-rich Plus ONE residency
By Matt Kelemen
It’s been more than 15 years since Garth Brooks came out of performing retirement in Las Vegas. Although he had made several public appearances and multidate concert runs in Kansas City and Los Angeles since announcing his sabbatical, it wasn’t until the fall of 2009 that he made a full career comeback with a critically acclaimed headlining gig. Now as he approaches the end of his Garth Brooks/Plus ONE at The Colosseum, Brooks has three words for the possibility of a future return: “Never say never.”
So if Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood don’t set up residence in Ireland, where they are considering buying a house (as he disclosed during a Facebook livestream in October), he has the option to continue being the Elvis of country music, at least in Las Vegas. And as Presley ruled the pop charts of the ’50s and early ’60s, Brooks will always be the undisputed king of country’s 1990s to early 2000s era.
Garth Brooks/Plus ONE could have been a straight career retrospective showcase threaded through a biographical narrative, but Brooks has been taking chances ever since his Garth at Wynn sets at Wynn Las Vegas’ Encore Theater kicked o Dec. 11, 2009, when he opted for an acoustic show featuring Yearwood. Friends in low places that come to the Strip experience one of its more unorthodox headlining gigs, with Brooks varying his sets show to show and playing covers of songs by artists like Bob Seger and Billy Joel.
They may witness Yearwood appear onstage to duet with Brooks on her 1997 single “In Another’s Eyes.”
Fans that attended Brooks’ final Caesars show of 2024 requested Yearwood’s 1991 song “She’s in Love With
the Boy” and 1992 single “Walkaway Joe.” Brooks and Yearwood also covered “Shallow” from A Star is Born
The covers are a major factor in making Garth Brooks/Plus ONE feel spontaneous. Brooks has opened shows with Seger’s “Against the Wind” and Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay.” He’s performed Joel’s “Shameless” from 1991 album Ropin’ the Wind and played “Piano Man” mid-set. George Strait, The Oak Ridge Boys, David Allen Coe, Nitty Gritty Dirt band and Keith Whitley have all been paid tribute by Brooks in The Colosseum.
Brooks performs solo and with his band, who back him through classics such as “The River,” “The Thunder Rolls” and “The Dance,” as well as deeper cuts requested by the audience like “The Red Strokes,” “Alabama Clay” and “Every Time That It Rains.” He’s also played “Ireland” from 1995 album Fresh Horses, which may whet that notion to relocate to the Emerald Isle once the latest extension of Garth Brooks/Plus ONE concludes in March.
That doesn’t mean Brooks is done with Vegas. As long as the demand is there he’ll likely return for future residencies in some form or fashion, but in order to get a chance to catch him covering The Isley Brother’s “Shout,” it’s best to see him live now, while he’s still taking requests.

Mount Charleston
You’ve finally made it to Vegas! So many choices—you can gamble to your heart’s (and wallet’s) content, you can go on a shopping spree, you can eat at some of the world’s finest restaurants and see some of the greatest entertainers on the planet—often all in the same day! These experiences are quintessential Vegas musts and definitely contribute to a joyful and fulfilling visit. But what if that’s not enough? You may not know it, but away from the Strip, Vegas is a mini-paradise for the everyday adventurer, whether you’re venturing out during those brutal, triple-digit temperatures or during the cooler months. There are mountains to climb, trails to explore, a man-made lake to admire and nature to observe. Of course, we fully expect that you’ll be taking advantage of all the Strip has to o er. That’s why you’re here! But if you really want to stretch your legs and see a side of the Southwest you’ve never seen before, take a chance and do something new—call that Über or Lyft, head to REI for some supplies, and get o the grid. You may never want to leave!
Start o your morning by exploring one of the many hiking trails in Las Vegas. Near Lake Mead, right outside of Boulder City, is the Historic Railroad Trail (nps. gov), an easy 7.5-mile trek (round trip) that follows the old railway that trans-
ported machinery and supplies to Hoover Dam during its construction. Along the path, you’ll pass through five massive tunnels, which helps measure the scope of the dam’s construction and shows how the project was a major feat of engineering. Another great option for easy hiking trails is Lone Mountain Park. There’s a flat-ground desert trail that loops around the tiny mountain and o ers great views of the city. But if you’d like to make that view even better, climb to the mountain’s peak.
If you decide to check out either of those hiking areas, remember that the weather may reach warmer digits, so bring a lot of water and don’t forget your sunscreen. If you’d rather not deal with any heat at all Mount Charleston is a much cooler refuge, with temperatures nearly 20 degrees lower than in the valley. It’s home to the popular Mary Jane Falls and Cathedral Rock trails, to name a few, which are a little tougher and rockier than the previously mentioned trails, but the crisp mountain air and stunning scenery— as well as seeing a side of Las Vegas that you probably didn’t know existed—will make it all worth it.
If hiking doesn’t appeal to you, but you still want to observe and enjoy nature, that’s not a problem. The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve (cityofhenderson.com) is a tranquil place to view resident birds like roadrunners and verdin, as well as nesting American avocets and blacknecked stilts. Go to Floyd Lamb State Park and you might wonder if you’re still in Las Vegas. The small oasis has lush
Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve
Grand Canyon
vegetation, a quaint ranch and a few fishing ponds filled with ducks and geese— you’ll even come across a few peacocks. But if you want to see some nature without leaving your car, take a drive along the 13-mile scenic loop at Red Rock Canyon (redrockcanyonlv.org), where you’ll be able to view unique red rock formations and wide-open desert landscapes. If you feel compelled to leave your car, however, there are several observation points and overlooks where you can stretch your legs, walk around and further explore the canyon.
In speaking of canyons, while it’s not Vegas, the Grand Canyon is too close to not be part of a Southern Nevada experience. If you don’t know where to start, try Grand Canyon West ( grandcanyonwest.com). This massive area o ers a one-stop shop of ways to view the Grand Canyon and its surrounding areas, such as walking along the glass-paneled Skywalk or taking a helicopter tour. There’s also a convenient shuttle service that circulates through Guano Point, Eagle Point and Hualapai Ranch, allowing you to explore the West Rim at your own pace.
Lone Mountain Lake Las Vegas
Red Rock Canyon
What’s great about the desert is daytime temperatures can still warm the body so visitors have the opportunity to enjoy some of Vegas’ watery attractions, even in winter weather. Take a short drive o the Strip to Lake Las Vegas for the popular Lake Las Vegas Water Sports (lakelasvegaswatersports.com). It’s the total package for fun on the water, with electric boats, kayaks and paddle boards available for rent (reservations highly recommended). Or head a little farther down the road and you’ll find Lake
Mead (nps.gov). It’s one of the nation’s largest man-made lakes, so there’s a lot to explore. Entry to the lake allows you to access relaxing beach areas, including Boulder Beach, and its several marinas, like Lake Mead Marina and Lake Mead Boat Harbor, where you can rent pontoon boats, sports boats and WaveRunners through Boating Lake Mead (boatinglakemead.com). Maybe all that water will remind you of something like the Bellagio Fountains, and you’ll want to head right back to what you came for: that fabulous Las Vegas Strip.

Queen of Hip-Hop Soul Mary J. Blige reunites with her fans in Las Vegas
By Matt Kelemen
While music scenes and styles are in constant states of evolution, Mary J. Blige has reigned as Queen of Hip-Hop Soul for more than three decades. Blige’s 1992 debut album, What’s the 411?, was both pioneering and a game changer, introducing an artist whose singing blended effortlessly with hip-hop beats. A role model to several generations of women who relate to her songs of emotional pain and empowerment, Blige is back on the road reuniting with fans in one of the most anticipated tours of the year.
The Bronx-born, Yonkers-raised street survivor didn’t plan on becoming a relatable superstar while growing up in New York’s Schlobohm Housing Projects. Her musician father provided early foundational instruction before abandoning the family, while her mother’s appreciation of singers such as Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight and Chaka Khan informed the household soundtrack.
“Singing was the escape for me,” she says in 2021 documen-

tary Mary J. Blige’s My Life. “Singing made me forget we were struggling so much.”
Blige had to fight to avoid becoming a target of violence. She dropped out of school at 16 and began heading in a dead-end direction before a recording booth at a mall opened the doors to opportunity. Her mom passed her tape onto her boyfriend, who had connections that led to discovery by Uptown Records’ Andre Harrell, who saw her potential and signed her as a recording artist. It would be several years before What’s the 411? would be released, but Blige’s destiny was set in stone.
By the time she had her first Top 10 hit in July 1992 with “Real Love,” Blige had cultivated a “ghetto fabulous” style
characterized by combat boots, backward baseball caps and stylist-curated clothes. What’s the 411? cracked Billboard ’s Top 10 albums chart, as did 1994 sophomore studio album My Way. Her singles regularly topped the R&B chart and, by 2001, she had a No. 1 pop hit with “Family Affair.”
She had also moved her own family out of the projects, experienced romantic highs and lows that were channeled into lyrics and earned a Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group Grammy for her duet with Method Man, “I’ll Be There for You/ You’re All I Need to Get By.”
In all, Blige would earn nine Grammys and release 15 studio albums, with her latest, Gratitude, hitting streaming
platforms in November. The For My Fans Tour followed, with Ne-Yo and Mario joining her for shows that have earned popular and critical acclaim. Prestigious stylists Wayman and Micah advised on her wardrobe for the tour, which has been garnering nearly as much praise as her performances.
Now Blige’s music is part of household soundtracks. She branched into acting as well as filmmaking for the Lifetime network, has her own beauty and fashion lines, and has firmly adopted a self-love philosophy that replaced abusive relationships. Mary J. Blige, who once had to physically fight to survive, is happy at last and sharing the love with the fans who made that possible.

Nobu Villa is the 10,300-square-foot crowning jewel of boutique Nobu Hotel at Caesars Palace
FLAWLESS FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, wall to wall and indoors to outdoors, the Japanese-inspired Nobu Villa exceeds all expectations of luxury living. With 5,600 square feet of indoor space— three bedrooms and four baths, common areas consisting of a media room, a sitting room, a formal dining room, a game space with pool table and an omakase sushi bar for private dining— the Rockwell Group-designed rooftop villa is only reached by private elevator. The 4,700-square-foot terrace, accessible through three different points from the villa, affords breathtaking views of the city lights up and down Las Vegas Boulevard and beyond. Outdoor living is easy with two shaded sitting-room spaces, daybeds and lounge chairs, with a hot tub inspired by a Japanese onsen tucked into a nook for more privacy.
Entertaining at Nobu Villa is divine, with an assortment of settings to choose from. With the 24-hour butler service, butler’s kitchen and pantry, guests are waited on hand and foot. Those who don’t want to dine downstairs at the famed Nobu restaurant can dine in the villa, where sushi chefs are able to whip up any dish from the Nobu menu. Guests can also celebrate on the terrace: The outdoor kitchen and bar—complete with robatayaki grill—make it the perfect spot for a party. Relaxation comes easy in the two outdoor covered living spaces, complete with sofas, lounge chairs, ceiling fans, flat screen TVs and adjustable lighting.
Throughout the entire villa, Japanese-inspired art pieces hold the gaze of guests, including an eight-panel art installation in the entry hall by Brooklyn artist Jill Hotchkiss. Each of the delicate scenes are sandblasted into wood and depicts a Japanese landscape outlined in gold paint. The two guest rooms, each with its own private bath and vanity, get lush touches of custom hand-painted wallpaper by De Gournay, with pastoral scenes including cherry blossoms and other foliage.
The master bedroom celebrates the tranquil side of the Nobu lifestyle while incorporating the most lavish features. The master suite comes with an en suite massage room, and French doors lead out to the expansive terrace with the Zen garden and hot tub. Adjacent is the master bath, reminiscent of a private spa with giant soaking tub, oversized shower, double vanity, sauna room and Japanese-style daybed.
The show must go on for Donny Osmond after tragedy strikes his famous family
By Matt Kelemen
Donny Osmond did not experience the best start to the new year. After he spent Christmas in Edinburg, Scotland playing Pharaoh in a U.K. revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, his clan experienced the loss of brother Wayne, who passed away Jan. 1 at 73 after su ering a stroke. (While Wayne was the fourth-oldest child, he was the second-oldest member of The Osmonds.) Donny, the seventh oldest, memorialized Wayne on social media the next day, then braced himself to return to the Las Vegas stage for his long-running headlining show.
Wayne gets his due at Donny Osmond, the residency, when Donny harmonizes with his brothers via video enhancement in
one of the show’s many highlights. Osmond dances with representations of his siblings, allows the audience to pick an album from his catalog for him and his live band to perform, demonstrates his rapping ability, and makes room for dancing dynamo Miki Catherine to kick up her heels.
Although Osmond may still perform with a heavy heart, his show is a joyous occasion that includes songs and stories about his brothers and sister Marie. Wayne performed in a barbershop quartet that included Merrill, Alan and Jay. The group became a quintet when Osmond, practically born to sing, joined the group.
By the early ’70s the brothers had switched to pop and had their first big hit
with “One Bad Apple.” That song written by George Jackson, who penned Bob Seger’s hit “Old Time Rock & Roll,” went to No. 1 in 1971 and made The Osmonds superstars. Donny, who sang the high part of the dual lead, covers the song in concert with his adult voice comfortably rendering the parts Merrill sings on the single.
The song became the opening theme to a Saturday-morning animated series.
The Osmonds played concerts in arenas and were pictured in posters hanging on bedroom walls of teen female fans across the country. More hits came such as “Yo-Yo” and rocking “Down by the Lazy River” from 1971 album Phase III before Osmond began scoring solo singles such as “Puppy Love” and “Go Away Little Girl.”
fortunes of The Osmonds, which would become a successful country act in the ’80s. Chart success for Osmond segued into prime-time television success as he teamed with his younger sister for ABC variety series Donny & Marie. The show was a hit, but variety shows would soon reach a saturation point and disappear from the airwaves.
As Osmond’s voice changed, so did the
The siblings’ chemistry was revived when they opened a long-running residency at Flamingo in 2008. They quickly became a top draw on the Strip, with their faces adorning the property’s streetside exterior. Donny came back solo after that show’s final curtain, but he’s no nostalgia act. His show is a blast, featuring all The Osmonds’ hits plus his own comeback single, “Soldier of Love.” It’s as if he was born to be a Las Vegas headliner.
