PROMOTING SUSTAINABILITY & INNOVATION
We live in an era of disruption that is changing the way we live and work as we address the impact we make within our industries and the environment.
UAE has become such a successful business hub and the younger generation are opting for entrepreneurship and prefer the life of being a digital nomad while putting in more effort towards sustainability and innovation.
Goals relating to ESG (environmental, social and governance). Our team is supporting the Environment Development Forum this month in Egypt, leading up to COP27 later in the year both in terms of covering the stories and reaching out to organisations addressing climate change.

Creating strategies, roadmaps and technologies that address environmental issues, adaptation and mitigation measures, and sustainable development are not only critical, but vital to the survival of the human race. Some topics which were once viewed as measures for protecting the future generations, are now priorities for today, as rapid urbanization and population growth in absence of sustainable measures have led to a rapid destruction of the planet’s equilibrium, and in a nutshell, we have less time than once assumed.
In line with these critical topics and in preparation for the Climate Change CoP27 hosted in Sharm El Sheikh, the event is organized to bring together the thought leaders in this field, from across sectors and industries, in a unique forum which will discuss key critical topics from three angles: Research and development, technical, and commercial

BLURRING BOUNDARIES
Interview with Noa Gastfreund
VP of Business Development at UNIPaaS & Co-founder@ UAE-IL tech zone
This year, the month of September marks the second anniversary of the signing the Abraham Accords and the summer in the UAE saw a group of Israeli companies representatives attending a series of events and bi lateral discussions organized by UAE-IL tech zone, a non-profit organization that builds bridges between the Emirati and Israeli tech ecosystems, unicorns and late-stage startups.
Together with UAE’s newly established Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the delegation focused on the FinTech, ClimateTech, and HealthTech sectors, which are key to the UAE’s tech development strategy and in line with the country’s 2030 vision.
Keeping in mind that the bilateral trade is surging, Israel’s best of breed startups explored the UAE market, met public and private stakeholders shaping the country’s innovation scene through growth opportunities, talent solutions or investments.
We interview Noa Gastfreund, co-founder of UAE-IL tech zone, a platform and community that bridges technological, entrepreneurial, business, venture capital, and government collaborations between the UAE and Israel. Noa talks about building relationships, creating connections and helping grow business ventures between the two countries.
WHERE DID THE IDEA OF CREATING SUCH A COMMUNITY COME FROM?
It was a combination of the perspective we had with bridging the Jewish and the Arab communities within Israel and the strong feeling that we can really make a change and create an impact in this region by connecting people through tech.
WHAT IDEAS DID YOU HAVE ABOUT THE UAE/ GULF BEFORE THE ACCORDS?
Basically not much because most Israelis did not know much about this part of the world as we did not come here for tourism or business before. Israeli tech companies were adopting the “global first” approach as our region was not a real option. But not only that, I think that the human part is the real loss. Since the accords were signed, I was lucky to meet amazing people that became friends and we have so much in common through a culture that I was able to absorb from my Moroccan grandmother and now I’m able to understand it finally.
WHAT DID YOU FEEL/ NOTICE WHEN YOU VISITED THE UAE FOR THE FIRST TIME AND NOW THAT YOU HAVE VISITED
OFTEN?
To be honest, every moment felt like (a dream) imagination. Everyone I met ended with the sentence “who could have imagined one year ago that we would be here sitting and thinking of collaborations that will shape our future relationships in the region. Today, the UAE is a second home for me. I have friends that are almost family, and places I am always excited to come back to.
WHAT DO YOU THINK THESE TWO COUNTRIES CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER?
I believe that there is so much yet to discover but in the past two years, we learned what are the opportunities for the tech industry. I believe that for Israeli companies there is a huge opportunity to penetrate the MENA region market leveraging on the UAE as a gateway for this region and start selling their products. There are also opportunities around human capital i.e Israeli companies opening R&D centres and hiring both local and international talents that in the future will be the next generation of startup founders in this region.
For the Emirati side, Israel can be a great place to learn how to go global from the early stages as well as being a knowledge and know-how sharing channel. The Emirati ecosystem can leverage the Israeli experience with incubating successful early-stage startups as well as ecosystem building as a whole.
WHICH AREAS OF FOCUS TWO SUCH SMALL COUNTRIES COULD HELP THE WORLD WITH?
I think these two countries have already shown the world how peace and prosperity can do good to so many people and countries in our area. We broke the glass ceiling that has been there as a status quo for a long long time and I feel it opened the appetite of many more countries to join this movement.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN CHALLENGES YOU HAVE HAD TO FACE BUILDING BRIDGES BETWEEN THESE TWO CULTURES?
When you are thinking about them you understand it is not a straightforward one, it’s not a vertical or a professional
WE ARE DOING KNOWLEDGE-SHARING WEBINARS AND MEETUPS, DELEGATIONS, AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR BUSINESS EXPERTS AS WELL AS FOR YOUNG LEADERS.
challenge we gather around. At the end of the day, these are two communities that are getting engaged for the first time and everything we do, we do for the first time so there is much more than just collaboration around tech.
The cultural aspect is taking a role in our community, understanding the other side, its desires, interests and behaviour and how they do business. We also realised that trust is vital, so we are doing a lot of face to face gatherings so people can come, meet and get to know each other for real. So we are a bilateral community focusing on the tech community but takes under its mission much more than that.
HOW DOES TECH/ INNOVATION PLAY A ROLE IN DIPLOMACY?
When I was with the Hybrid, I learned how the “language” of tech is very easy to communicate when it comes to more difficult situations like cultural bridging. For me to do so through tech is easy.
I think that as the two nations that are in a process of building and scaling up their tech ecosystems, we have so much in common vision and missionwise. For both of us, the sky is the limit and this is where we aim at. Leveraging the innovative assets of both countries in order to promote diplomacy is just a no brainer. Especially in our beloved and sparkling region.
WHAT DOES YOUR COMMUNITY CURRENTLY FOCUS ON?
We aim to build a bridge between the
two nations and the wider GCC area and promote tech collaborations. We are very focused on the cause of the people-topeople connection at the end of the day as this is the only way to build sustainable relationships and corporations in our region. I believe in the power of people to make the change, I believe in the power of innovation to be the platform for that and for us there are no boundaries.
We are doing knowledge-sharing webinars and meetups, delegations, and educational programs for business experts as well as for young leaders.
We are managing a community of more than 2K members that enjoy these activities and are looking to expand our
activities as well as our community.
DO YOU HAVE PLANS TO EXPAND IN THE REGION?
Yes. We see ourselves as the bridge between Israel and the UAE but not limited to that. At the end of the day, the region is wider and we should be able to establish connections with more countries and create a wider impact.
WHAT IS YOUR OBJECTIVE FOR THE FUTURE OF THE COMMUNITY?
We are lucky to have started with amazing founding partners such as Startup-Nation Central in Israel and to
have amazing support in the UAE both on the personal level and institutional level with MoIAT for example (The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology).
We aim at strengthening this network of partners in every country we develop in. This is our plan at the moment, surround ourselves with like minded people, mainly decision-makers, companies, and organizations who share the same goal as ours and are willing to participate in our activities and have us join theirs.
We are in the UAE quite regularly with delegations, educational programs or handling our club activities (our members-only club gathering decision makers from the region). Our next event will take place in November in Abu Dhabi during the Milken Institute Summit which we will be attending.
We believe every stone we are laying now with current and future partners will set the stage for long term initiatives across the MENA region. At the moment, we keep growing our network.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST IN THIS MISSION?
The impact is huge, I love people and I meet amazing people that take part in our exciting journey. We are looking for new partners who want to be part of our journey and decision makers who can help make a positive change. We are making history and this is the golden age of the Middle East.

WE BELIEVE EVERY STONE WE ARE LAYING NOW WITH CURRENT AND FUTURE PARTNERS WILL SET THE STAGE FOR LONG TERM INITIATIVES ACROSS THE MENA REGION.
DID WE SUCCEED IN DELIVERING OUR MESSAGE TO PEOPLE? YOUR OPINION MATTERS…
By Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General, Sharjah Government Media BureauTen years ago, the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) was born in Sharjah out of our intent to strengthen the bond between government institutions and the people; and with an ambition to enrich government communications in the region through an advanced scientific and cumulative approach.

During our 10-year journey of hosting the forum, we have crossed several key milestones and achieved strategic goals. These accomplishments are evident in the wide outreach of our messages that convey the importance of effective and scientific government communications, reflected by the growing number of local, regional and global entities who are
striving for excellence in the field by being part of the annual Sharjah Government Communication Award.
To leverage our past accomplishments as a springboard into the next phase of developing government communications, we would like to share an evaluation of our journey thus far, highlighting our
strengths and identifying existing gaps to overcome them.
From the outset, we set a strategic goal to support the development of a comprehensive government communication ecosystem that brings together public and private institutions within an integrated cultural framework in order to unify the national vision on issues of public interest, be it cultural, economic, developmental, societal, or any other.
This strategic goal was established by us to support the formulation of unified public messaging at local, regional and global levels. Additionally, the communication ecosystem would need to be inclusive and harmonious, and built to benefit from conscious investments in the influential elements of heritage, social
and human values, culture and art, all of which requires active public involvement in the communication process.
Empowering government offices, decision makers and media with the tools to develop an inclusive and participatory government communication ecosystem was our strategic goal from the get go. Through this, we wanted to ultimately support the Emirati community's strategic goals. A robust government communication ecosystem enhances the nation’s international image, which our leadership has painstakingly built for over 70 years, putting the UAE on the global map as a preferred destination to live, work and invest in.
On the global front, IGCF seeks to highlight the power of an effective and inclusive government communication ecosystem in successfully dealing with critical issues of development and sustainability, challenges facing the community and enhancing the quality of life. We have also turned the spotlight on the need to continually build and update communication tools to achieve these goals with our partners.
So, what have we achieved in ten years? Did we succeed in turning Sharjah into a global platform to discuss and debate the challenges and opportunities in

the fast-changing world of government communications? Were we able to guide our participants from across the globe on ways they can strengthen their partnership with the people? Have we been able to establish the development of government communications and its continuous enrichment via government communication science as a key priority for both public and private entities? Most importantly, did we succeed in delivering our message to the people?
We certainly have the answers to the above questions and we have tangible results. However, the more we learn, the more we realise that we need to further expand our knowledge base. With each milestone crossed, we know we will soon arrive at the next stop on our journey to understanding the science of human relationships.
Our work is meaningful only if people tell us that what we have done over the past ten years has positively impacted their lives by making their interactions with their government more engaging and meaningful. Citizens and residents must evaluate our 10-year contributions, and based on their feedback we will design new programmes and initiatives which will all be geared towards meeting their needs and fulfilling their expectations.
CORE INFLATION IS UNOFFICIALLY DEAD
By Peter Garnry Head of Equity Strategy
Central banks have been very late to the inflation game as they have underestimated the effects of the stimulus during the pandemic. Supply chains and generally the supply side of the economy were expected to normalise much faster than what has been the case and our main thesis now is that if central banks focus too much on core inflation a big mistake might be the outcome.
Food and energy will be at the center of our crisis years with climate change and the green transformation being inflationary in the years to come. Investors should increasingly invest in the tangible world to offset these inflationary risks.
THE ENERGY CRISIS WILL DRIVE EVERYTHING
Around 30 central banks around the world have adopted inflation targeting using the headline inflation indices which in the US is the US Personal Consumption Expenditures Index and was officially announced in January 2012. The official targeting is the headline inflation indices, but many central banks and economists are often putting more weight on the core inflation indices.
These indices remove energy and food from the price index. This practice is likely what made central banks react slowly to the current inflation impulse; remember, at Jackson Hole one year ago Jerome Powell said: “We have much ground to cover to reach maximum employment, and time will tell whether we have reached 2% inflation on a sustainable basis”. At that point, US CPI and core CPI stood at 5.4% y/y and 4.3% y/y respectively.
Core inflation indices remove the energy and food items because they are seen as volatile and mainly not driven by the trend change in overall prices, and the key assumption is also that they have temporary factors behind them that will reverse later on (see quote below from Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco). This argument was the same for our disrupted supply chains although, it has taken much longer than expected.
“However, although the prices of those goods may frequently increase or decrease at rapid rates, the price disturbances may not be related to a trend change in the economy’s overall price level. Instead, changes in food and energy prices often are more likely related to temporary factors that may reverse themselves later.”
FOOD AND ENERGY WILL
ADD TO INFLATION GOING FORWARD
Our team has written a lot about the physical world and lately we introduced indices of tangibles- vs intangiblesdriven industry groups. We have shown many times how the world is underinvested in the global energy and mining industry, and why this will haunt the world for years. Food and energy are also intertwined and connected which we have seen today with Yara International reducing its ammonia production in Europe to just 35% of potential production due to elevated natural gas prices. Lower ammonia production will lead to less fertilizer for farmers and thus lower food production, which again can lead to higher food prices.
It should be clear by now, that ignoring food and energy could be a grave mistake by central banks. Climate change will make global food production more volatile and push up prices, and the green transformation will for years keep energy prices elevated.
Our main thesis is that the coming decade will in many ways be a replay of the 1970s as politicians will intervene in the economy to mitigate the pain from higher prices, but these decisions will only keep the nominal economy growing fast and thus keep inflation and the readjustments going for longer.
The Fed’s core inflation measure is currently at 0.4% m/m measured over six months suggesting a core inflation rate annualized at around 5% which means that short-term interest rates must be set much higher to tame inflation. The headline inflation is currently twice as high as the core inflation.
NOMINAL WAGES WILL UNDERPIN INFLATION FOR A LOT LONGER
In the ECB paper from August 2002, the authors conclude that central banks should give substantial weight to the growth in nominal wages when monitoring inflation. If we look at nominal wage growth in the US, the chart below shows the three-staged acceleration we have observed in the US economy since 2009.
The first phase during 2009-2015 saw only 2% annualized wage growth as the economy was suffering from low demand in the subsequent years after the Great Financial Crisis. The second phase was the period from 2015 to early 2020 where
years of loose monetary policy and slowly healing economies lifted US nominal wage growth to 2.9% annualized.
The third phase is the period from early 2020 until today and is driven by the extraordinary monetary and fiscal stimulus that was put in place after the global Covid pandemic broke out. The combined stimulus was on par with the post-WWII years and was unleashed into a global economy that in hindsight was much closer to a hard physical supply limit than understood at the time. Subsequently, demand has been running much stronger than trend growth, and as a result, nominal wages have accelerated to a 5.2% annualized growth rate. Indeed, it seems we have a serious problem on our hands where inflation become unanchored from 2%.
INVEST IN THE TANGIBLE WORLD
In an inflationary environment the tangible world must increase dramatically, so investors should invest in the tangible world to offset the inflation risk in order to preserve wealth in real terms. In our note from yesterday about the Tangible world is fighting back we highlight the industry groups that are part of the tangible world, but our theme basket performance overview also shows which tangible parts are doing well which this year has been commodities, defense, renewable energy, logistics, and energy storage. Saxo clients can find the companies in each of these theme baskets on our trading platforms.
WE HAVE MUCH GROUND TO COVER TO REACH MAXIMUM EMPLOYMENT, AND TIME WILL TELL WHETHER WE HAVE REACHED 2% INFLATION ON A SUSTAINABLE BASIS.
DUBAI’S HIGH-END LUXURY REAL ESTATE MARKET IS RIPE FOR PICKING
Throughout the years Dubai has always been known as a luxurious emirate and playground for the rich. This is becoming more prominent in recent years as an increased number of high-end investors look to Dubai as a hub of opportunity and stability. Numerous celebrities— including the likes of Brad Pit, Madonna and Giorgio Armani—have already invested into Dubai’s real estate market prior to the pandemic.
Now billionaires started relocating not only their families, but also businesses to Dubai and more are expected to come with the UAE Central bank forecasting a 4.2 per cent GDP growth for 2022, double of that achieved in 2021. As the number
of investors rises, so are the high-end luxury real estate market opportunities.
These new buyers in Dubai’s real estate market are not merely investors, but end users looking to set down their roots. In looking for a property which is meant to become a home, these individuals are looking for ultra luxurious properties with ample space for families, to entertain guests and host extended family in some cases.
For the last few years there has also been an increased demand for turnkey properties which are already fully furnished. Buyers want to be able to show up with only their luggage to a
house which is already equipped with everything they might need.
While Dubai offers several luxurious properties, this is a severely underdeveloped sector segment with a limited supply available. Something still evident in the increased prices of ultra high end properties. According to a recent study done by Knight Frank, ultrahigh-end properties saw an exponential increase of 44 per cent in 2021.
Despite the increase in property rates, Dubai’s real estate market outperformed most global property markets including Paris, London, New York and Hong Kong. According to the annual transaction

report issued by the Dubai Land Department 84,772 transactions were recorded during 2021, representing a value of AED300 billion.
Of late, the demographics of affluent individuals looking to relocate to Dubai has also shifted. Previously, Asian and British citizens were amongst the highest investors in Dubai. This has changed to more buyers from Central and Eastern Europe. The shift in new nationalities looking to invest in Dubai comes as individuals seek a safe and stable country to put down their roots.

No country was left unscathed by the pandemic, however, how the United Arab Emirates handled the situation made the wealthy take note. Throughout the pandemic the country was open for business, PCR tests are readily available, vaccines were quickly rolled out to residents, although there was a lockdown, it was brief and even the country’s tourism sector opened sooner than most. Despite the challenges the country faced, it found ways to support residents and businesses throughout the pandemic—something which made investors take note.
In addition to these measures, Dubai has set numerous new policies in place to make the emirate more appealing to investors. Being an income tax free country is appealing to most. Changing the ownership laws of organisations has made the country more welcoming and now the introduction of the 10-year visa, also known as the “Golden Visa” provides residents and investors more security.
A new law allowing potential residents and investors to purchase a Golden Visa for AED10 million allows even greater accessibility to the country for the affluent. New flight routes and more direct flights to Dubai has also made a significant difference.
One of the significant challenges in accommodating this market segment is the ability to acquire land in affluent areas. For example, Hillside at Jumeirah Gulf Estate has only 20 mansions available with limited room for expansion in the same area. Most of these units have already been sold.
Waterfront properties, which are very popular in the eastern European market, are also limited and new arrivals to Dubai are often sceptical to move too far
inland. In addition, some buyers are not interested in off plan properties. They want to see the final product, meaning the turnaround time from acquiring land, construction to having it furnished needs to be quick without compromising on quality.
Expo 2020 Dubai has helped create more awareness of “new Dubai” and its accessibility to the broader emirate. However, there is a need to develop more affluent communities within Dubai along with the necessary infrastructure to accompany it like schools, medical facilities and shopping malls.
While Dubai’s upper market real estate sector is a rapidly growing niche market, it’s not something just anyone can develop. It requires large investments and a full-fledged team who can deliver a quality 360 solution to buyers.
This being said, it is a profitable sector with growing opportunities for those able to enter the industry. The United Arab Emirates, specifically Dubai will continue to attract high net worth individuals to its shores, increasing the demand for ultra high end luxury villas.

THE FUTURE OF DARK KITCHENS: EFFICIENCY, GROWTH, EXPANSION?
By Naji Haddad, Middle East General Manager at DeliverectIt’s no secret that the on-demand food industry is booming and has significantly capitalized on the shift in consumer behaviors driven by the global pandemic and mobile technology expansion. Customer demand for outstanding food delivered directly to their door is rising. According to a report by BusinessWire, the global delivery industry is now projected to be a potential market that will cross the $154.34B mark by 2023.
And that’s big news for dark kitchens (also known as dark kitchens), a new business model that’s also booming and has six different models, each with its pros and cons. Let’s have a quick look:
1. TRADITIONAL DARK KITCHEN
When a single brand owns or rents a single dark kitchen location, typically specializing in a single type of cuisine. It relies on third-party delivery channels.
2. MULTI-BRAND DARK KITCHEN
Multiple brands share a single cloud kitchen under the umbrella of a parent company. While sharing the kitchen and equipment, brands offer different cuisines and dishes. This ecosystem enables them to maximize efficiency while minimizing operational costs.
3. TAKEAWAY DARK KITCHEN
Similar to the traditional ones, except they allow customers to wait and collect their orders.
4. AGGREGATOR-OWNED DARK KITCHEN
When delivery service providers (Zomato, and Deliveroo) offer a fully equipped kitchen for restaurants to rent. These dark kitchens can concentrate on meal preparation while the place owner handles everything else.
5. AGGREGATOR-OWNED DARK KITCHEN PLUS
Similar to the prior, this model provides an extended service. Aggregators provide more infrastructure and optimize the kitchen process. This may also include a storefront similar to that in the takeaway model.
6. OUTSOURCED DARK KITCHEN
This model outsources anything they can, so people working there only have to add the finishing touches to the meals. It is more customer-facing as it allows the team to focus on delivering a perfect order.
This diversity in such a new business model is at least fascinating and opens new opportunities, but it also raises a big question…
IS THERE A FUTURE FOR DARK KITCHENS?
Thanks to Millennials being the driving force, by 2026, the restaurant-tohome delivery industry will be a $500B market globally with an annual growth rate of 8.29%.
Millennials spend most of their income on online food ordering because they like to taste different cuisines that offer a quick and smart solution to save time. They also have high purchasing power and prefer third-party delivery sites (with over half (54 percent) ordering this way). As a digital-first generation, millennials are critical of their experiences and enjoy sharing reviews and feedback online.
That is why a brand’s strong digital presence is essential, and providing excellent services is crucial. And that implies an evolving relationship with customers and their new habits, leading to more considerable revenue in an industry expected to be worth $1 trillion by 2030.
But to do so, brands need to be in the right place at the right time, which means adding channels and virtual brands. Even when the dark kitchen market is booming and has a promising future, not all of its players will take advantage of it.
Dark kitchens can move further and capitalize on the wave by expanding their channels and look for efficiencies! Through optimization and more visibility, sales will grow. In fact, recent research shows that restaurants lose 20% average profit by not having an online presence. By adding new channels and working with virtual brands, the same space is optimized to operate efficiently. That means more reach, more market share, and more revenue.
MSSP CHECKLIST
TIPS FOR ACHIEVING SUCCESS
By JonathanNguyen-Duy, Vice President, Global Field CISO at FortinetComplicated IT environments and expanding network edges create new cybersecurity risks. In response to the evolving threat landscape, more companies have turned to managed security service providers (MSSPs) who can provide access to hard to find security expertise and the latest technology.
To position themselves competitively in a crowded market, MSSPs must offer the right combination of services, aroundthe-clock protection as well as, cost effective solutions that deliver better risk management and compliance. It’s a twofold challenge that requires speed and scale in detection and response for more competitive value propositions.
MANAGED SECURITY PROVIDER (MSSP) SUCCESS CHECKLIST
Creating a successful service offering means understanding customers’ security and business objectives. To help customers achieve these goals, an MSSP must establish a robust set of offerings that offer access to the latest technologies and security expertise at a price point that makes sense.

ACTIONABLE ALERTS
Most customers begin their evaluation process by reviewing an MSSP’s solutions. Information overload and alert fatigue is a common problem facing security teams so the ability to address security monitoring is a key requirement. Without high-fidelity alerts that correlate events effectively, security teams find themselves spending too much time investigating false alerts.
To help address these problems, MSSPs must provide customers with aggregated alerts enriched with context that reduce false positives, while also helping to define, guide, and accelerate investigations. MSSPs who can enable prioritization based on severity levels with technology that streamlines task assignments and automate response can differentiate themselves from other providers.
ADVANCED THREAT DETECTION
In addition to alerts, advanced threat detection is also tied to the MSSP’s ability to incorporate advanced threat intelligence into its offering. With threat actors continually improving their
tactics, techniques and procedures customers want a provider with real-time access to robust threat intelligence that can quickly detect attacks at machine speed. While many customers may already subscribe to threat intelligence feeds, disaggregated information across a fragmented security architecture actually creates security gaps and increases key metrics like mean times to detect and respond.
MSSPs need to support actionable alerts with high-quality threat intelligence. When combining the two in a single pane of glass, an MSSP can help customers respond to zero-day attacks, other emerging threats, as well as variations of known attacks more rapidly, and thereby reduce the likelihood of a data breach.
SOC SERVICES
MSSPs offer more than just access to the latest technologies. Customers also turn to their providers for services, including talking to experienced people who can guide them through the incident response process. The cybersecurity talent gap leaves many companies struggling to find the right staffing to
protect their systems, network, and data. Often, customers turn to an MSSP to act as their security operations center (SOC) or support their current team.
With this in mind, MSSPs must deliver a range of services from their own SOC, specifically those that can be offered at particular service levels or tailored to individual customer needs. By delivering a fully managed or co-managed SOC service, MSSPs can fill the talent gap by providing the human resources customers need, not just the technology and tools.
AUTOMATED RESPONSE
Some customers may have SOC teams that need augmentation because they are bogged down by manual, inefficient, error-prone, and time-consuming steps. These customers need automation so that their teams can effectively filter repetitive tasks and focus on more critical issues.
MSSPs that offer automated response capabilities can address higher level requirements to address a larger market with more advanced requirements. By offering Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) with updated playbooks, MSSPs can offer highly differentiated services featuring enhanced detection and accelerated incident investigation and response.
VISIBILITY & SIEM ACCESS
Today, nearly every customer has a complex environment, regardless of company size. Most customers have multiple point products that create gaps in visibility and control. To gain that visibility, many work with an MSSP who can cost-effectively provide them with a cohesive Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution.
One of the keys to SIEM effectiveness is the ability to ingest large volumes of data from a wide arrange of vendor products. The ability to provide centralized management and customization options using API integrations is one way MSSPs can distinguish themselves within the market. In addition, MSSPs should consider services like granular reporting with event management that highlights important activity and alerts – providing a cost effective alternative to traditional in-house SIEM depoloytmens.
FLEXIBLE DEPLOYMENT
Many organizations are implementing digital transformation and research consistently shows that security is the primary concern. Cloud adoption, distributed computing, remote working, complexity and increasing threats are
key challenges driving customers to seek MSSPs with flexible solutions.

Most customers want their MSSP to be their “one-stop-shop” for managing cyber risk and compliance. To differentiate themselves, MSSPs need to offer customizable solutions with flexible technology in the form of appliances, virtual machines or cloud delivered services along with pay-asyou-go options that allow customers to onboard new solutions quickly and efficiently as their needs change. To do this, MSSPs need to offer on-demand services with extensive self-service catalogs – especially incident response and reporting.
THE BUSINESS BENEFITS OF CHOOSING & WORKING WITH AN MSSP
Beyond providing the right services and technologies, MSSPs must also demonstrate their business value. Many customers recognize their security problems but cannot articulate where the MSSP fits into solving them. To demonstrate the vital role they can play in securing customer networks and enabling the business, MSSPs should consider offering the following:
SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND SERVICES
For most customers, gaining access to the skills and services that help them solve their unique security issues poses a significant challenge. While no two customer requirements are the same, all organizations are seeking cost effective ways to access scarce security skills and services.
MSSPs should focus on platform scalability that allows efficient customer focus without the cost of dedicated staffing. MSSPs need flexible solutions that evolve with customer needs. In some cases, a customer may want a comprehensive technology and services package that gives them an entire team and all capabilities. In other cases, the customer may just be building out a SOC and looking to grow over time. Being able to meet customers where they are now, as they are now, and evolve with them is key to helping them understand the value.
24/7 SERVICE
Threat actors can attack at any time of day, often outside of traditional work hours. Even companies with a SOC may not be able to have someone on-call every day, all day. MSSPs can provide that co-managed service for companies without a dedicated SOC or augment the current SOC to address these outside-of-
business times.
RAPID RESPONSE
Our networks and systems are more interconnected than ever before, so the sooner a company can respond to a threat, the less damage that threat can cause. With automated response capabilities, customers can reduce response time to ensure a reduction in potential damage. Manual processes are no longer adequate as they can take anywhere from four to fifteen hours, but automated response technologies can reduce that to twenty minutes or less. Incident response is all about automation for speed and scale.
LOWER TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP
Building a SOC, deploying SIEM, tools and hiring the staff can be cost-prohibitive. Accelerating business requirements and cost concerns means companies are seeking alternatives to tradition build and operate approaches. The shared services model offered by MSSPs is an increasingly attractive model that provides accelerated time-to-service along with better risk management and compliance than traditional in-house solutions. MSSPs offer a predictable, demonstrated cost model that provides better value for risk management and business outcomes. Aligning operational metrics to customer business outcomes is a key differentiator.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Customization and scalability go handin-hand when building out solutions. Services are just as important as technologies; part of providing a solution is delivering value through the right technologies that solve the right problems, at right price. Providing access to technology, expertise and services is the foundational value of MSSPs. By keeping this top of mind, MSSPs should focus on a platform approach that allows highly customizable, scalable solutions with a TCO that unlocks value and growth.

BITDEFENDER AND THREATQUOTIENT PARTNER TO BOLSTER THREAT DETECTION CAPABILITIES THROUGH SHARED INTELLIGENCE
Actionable Threat Intelligence Drives Better Decision Making and Security Operations Effectiveness for Security Operation Centers, Managed Detection and Response and Managed Security Service Providers
THREAT INTELLIGENCE PLATFORMS LIKE THREATQ GREATLY IMPROVES DETECTION CAPABILITIES AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS ACROSS THE ENTIRE OPERATION WHILE PRIORITIZING SOC ACTIVITIES BASED ON THREAT RISK AND POTENTIAL IMPACT.
Bitdefender, a global cybersecurity leader, today announced a strategic partnership with ThreatQuotient, a leading security operations platform innovator, to incorporate Bitdefender Advanced Threat Intelligence into the ThreatQ™ Platform. The partnership provides ThreatQuotient customers including enterprises with a security operation center (SOC), managed security services providers (MSSPs)
and managed detection and response (MDR) providers greater visibility across the global threat landscape to enable detection that is more accurate resulting in accelerated response to threats.
“The proprietary real-time threat intelligence provided by Bitdefender strengthens our clients’ ability to accurately detect, assess and validate emerging threats so they can take faster actions to eliminate them from environments,” said Jonathan Couch, senior vice president strategy at ThreatQuotient. “Bitdefender is recognized globally for having bestin-class threat intelligence and threat detection capabilities validated by MITRE and other leading independent testing organizations. ThreatQ customers will have contextualized insights on advanced persistent threats (APTs), malicious email campaigns and other dangers under one centralized view to quickly assess, validate and respond. Our collaboration has proved invaluable to our customers by increasing visibility into malicious campaigns as threat frequency and sophistication continues to rise.”
Having accurate, and actionable threat intelligence is critical to effective threat detection and response. Gartner analysts write, “Threat intelligence is knowledge about who or what is on the other side, as well as how they operate. Trying to defend against every possible threat with limited resources is a losing proposition. Use TI to protect your organization from all the relevant adversaries. Further, use TI to decide which adversaries are in fact relevant.”
ThreatQuotient integrates Bitdefender’s threat intelligence feeds including file hashes, IP addresses and domains
associated with advanced persistent threats (APTs); domains associated with malware; IP addresses associated with attacker command and control (C&C) servers; and phishing campaigns. Security teams using the ThreatQ platform incorporate these feeds based on specific threat detection needs leveraging easy to use and configure integration. Security Operation Centers (SOCs) and internal security teams receive all the latest threat updates without having to change configurations or write new software code.
Bitdefender Advanced Threat Intelligence is powered by the Bitdefender Global Protective Network (GPN), an extensive network of hundreds of millions of sensors continuously collecting endpoint threat data worldwide. Bitdefender Labs, an elite team of security practitioners, correlates GPN data against known indicators of compromise (IOCs), malware, malicious domains and URLs and performs deep analysis to discover unknown threats. This telemetry coupled with human and automated analysis results in hundreds of newly discovered threats each minute, validation of billions of threat queries daily and less false positives for security teams.
“Our collaboration with ThreatQuotient helps organizations become more cyber resilient as methods for evading detection become increasingly advanced,” said Andrei Florescu, vice president of product management, Bitdefender Business Solutions Group. “Threat intelligence platforms like ThreatQ greatly improves detection capabilities and situational awareness across the entire operation while prioritizing SOC activities based on threat risk and potential impact.”
DRIVING INNOVATION IN THE MIDDLE EAST WITH KUBERNETES
By: Mohamad Rizk, Regional Director, Middle East & CIS at Veeam SoftwareContainer use in enterprises is exploding across the globe. Kubernetes, the de facto platform for orchestrating containers today, is an open-source container orchestration platform that automates deploying, managing and scaling containerized applications. A Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) survey found that 92% of responding companies run containers in production, and 83% of those deployments use Kubernetes. The Middle East is not far behind! According to findings of the Veeam Data Protection Trends Report 2022, 69% of UAE organizations and 76% of Saudi Arabian organizations are already running containers in production, while 29% and 22% respectively plan to do so in the next 12 months.

WHY CONTAINERS AND KUBERNETES?
The advantages of a virtualized infrastructure are well documented. Greater workload mobility, availability of resources, automated operations and increased performance are all benefits of virtualization that make IT simpler to manage and less costly to own and operate. Containers are a lighter-weight, more agile way of handling virtualization.
Without the need of a hypervisor, organizations leveraging containers can enjoy faster resource provisioning and speedier availability of new applications. Instead of dedicating one operating system for each application, multiple applications can run independently from each other on the same operating system, which means less hardware and licenses and reduced load on servers.
Containers and Kubernetes have greatly simplified operations for DevOps teams. Previously, to create a virtual machine or to provision a physical server, developers needed to talk to a number of different units including the infrastructure team, backup administrators and network administrators. With containers and Kubernetes, that workflow is not needed anymore.
Developers have become the A-team and are responsible for everything. The infrastructure team is still required to provision physical servers and put in the layer of Kubernetes and hypervisors, but they are no longer needed to create new applications or the resources needed for the applications. All this means that companies can go to market with new applications and technologies, internally or externally, much faster. The provisioning phase of any application – the testing and moving it from development stage to production stage –now takes place in a very short time.
Also, with app deployments accelerating, very often companies experience huge server workloads. For high availability, Kubernetes can shift from one cluster or one node or one server to another very easily, thus making processing faster and more efficient. It optimizes the response time and evenly distributes tasks to avoid overloading compute nodes. Kubernetes can load balance by creating more microservices and containers to serve the excess load. When the load scales down, those containers are deleted.
In simple terms, what Kubernetes has done, is to decouple the application from the data and the underlying infrastructure. The repeatable service and repeatable function becomes an independent piece of code that can be replicated to any number of servers, to any infrastructure or to any site, that would give organizations and their customers much more agility, resiliency and a much faster go-to-market. Kubernetes enables organizations to create self-healing, high available applications.
KUBERNETES IN THE MIDDLE EAST
Enterprises that we talk to in the Middle East have a good understanding of Kubernetes. It’s not just a buzzword - like in the early days of Cloud, companies were using the term ‘Cloud’ quite loosely by saying that they were moving to Private Cloud or Public Cloud, when most of the time they meant they were going to virtualize their environment. With Kubernetes, however, regional enterprises now have skilled teams in place (skillsets are quite unique in this space) and because it is controlled by developers and not infrastructure teams, there is a much better and deeper understanding which ultimately leads to high quality deployments.
In Saudi Arabia, which is the biggest IT market in the region, government agencies are the leading adopters of Kubernetes technologies, followed by banks and financial institutions. Typically these organizations have a large number of users of digital services. The reasons for high adoption rates are clear.
Government entities providing public services are unable to predict the number of users that will be accessing their services. If they decide to go with a traditional IT model of physical infrastructure and virtualization, and estimate that a maximum of 50,000 users would access their systems, then they would need to pay upfront for an infrastructure that can accommodate all these users, involving an undesirably high CAPEX.
With Kubernetes, as explained earlier, because services and applications are decoupled from the data and the operating system, those services can scale up and down easily and the customer doesn't need to make a huge upfront investment to have dedicated
physical servers for each application or service or each operating system.
The self-healing aspect of a Kubernetes environment is another big advantage. Any microservice or replica of a microservice that is not running properly can be restarted easily without affecting the overall service. Self-healing translates to better uptime in terms of the availability of the service to customers and end users.
The competitive nature of the banking and financial industry is a big driver for Kubernetes adoption. Banks are constantly trying to be the first-to-market when it comes to innovative applications and services. Kubernetes short circuits the laborious app provisioning cycle, making it quick and easy to spin-up apps.
PROTECTING KUBERNETES ENVIRONMENTS
There is no doubt that the attack surface is growing as more companies adopt containers and do their orchestration using Kubernetes. The complexity that early adopters are finding is the lack of data management and data integrity when it comes to protecting Kubernetes and container workloads. Kubernetes and containers are often compared to virtual machines, but it is a very different approach. It is very much focused on a different persona. The person that looks after the lifecycle of containers in a Kubernetes environment is not your traditional operations infrastructure admin.
They are focused on the application and have more of a DevOps function, but also understand the platform where the application lives. Bringing the infrastructure or platform closer to the application carries its own benefits anyway. But this same approach means that data integrity has to be looked at differently than how we approach virtual machine backup.
Kubernetes environments require an application-centric approach over an infrastructure focus. This is why regional enterprises need to look at modern data protection technologies that work against a wide range of Kubernetes application stacks and deployment methods, like Kasten K10 by Veeam for example, that completes that ability to protect these new cloud-native workloads.
NVIDIA HIGHLIGHTS GEFORCE RTX 30 SERIES LAPTOPS AS THE IDEAL CHOICE FOR STUDENTS ABOUT TO BEGIN THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR
GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs feature AI enhanced graphics, video and image processing, and other advanced features that ensure students have the best experience whether they’re working on coursework, creating streaming content or gaming on-the-go
Ahead of the forthcoming academic year, NVIDIA is advising students looking for a new laptop to opt for models equipped with GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs. Laptops with these GPUs offer advanced features and technology that makes them ideal for a variety of student-centric use cases over the new school year and beyond.
A student’s computing needs are diverse; the laptop must pack potent performance when tackling the latest applications (general productivity, STEM focused etc.) and games, and be rugged yet compact and light enough to travel with for the current school year and beyond. The laptop will also need to offer substantial battery life and useful ancillary features (webcam, surround audio etc.).
These requirements immediately disqualify low-spec, inexpensive machines that will inevitably develop problems or answer so few requirements that it would have to be replaced midway through the school term – an unnecessary additional expense.
It makes far more sense to invest in the right laptop right from the get-go. This is where NVIDIA GeForce powered laptops come into the picture, particularly those with the potent, feature rich and efficient GeForce RTX30 series GPUs.
STUDIOUS MAXIMUS
By taking advantage of GPU acceleration provided by GeForce laptops, applications frequently used in the engineering, computer science, data science and economics fields will perform at their best. This means interactive, realtime rendering for complex component designs and simulations, faster image and signal processing, and the ability to
develop larger, more accurate artificial intelligence (AI) and data science models. The outbreak of COVID-19 a little over two years ago introduced the world at large to remote learning and collaboration, and although classrooms are once again welcoming students, technology that makes it easier to remotely learn from and collaborate with lecturers is still important. GeForce equipped laptops can deliver this experience smoothly, allowing students to remain laser focused on learning.
A TOOL TO AMPLIFY CREATIVITY
NVIDIA Studio laptops are designed for creators, for performance, and for the latest and greatest creative apps, making them ideal for students keen on becoming 3D artists, designers, photographers and image editing specialists, streamers and even video editors. Through the NVIDIA Studio platform of accelerated apps, robust driver support and exclusive tools including NVIDIA Omniverse, Canvas, and Broadcast, students can express themselves uninhibited. GeForce RTX laptops are equipped with dedicated hardware to accelerate 3D design, photo, and video editing, and with AI, students can apply advanced effects with one click of a mouse button.
Students who have embraced streaming or partake in e-learning or video conferencing can benefit from NVIDIA Broadcast. The platform can create a ‘studio’ anywhere by removing background noise and echo, offering green-screen capabilities, improving camera and voice quality and much more.
NVIDIA Encoder is also designed for
streamers and provides the tools to create incredible graphics and stutterfree live stream feeds. It also includes exclusive optimizations for popular streaming applications that unlock the ability to give the audience the very best, every time.
POTENT POWER IN A PORTABLE PACKAGE
GeForce laptops feature Max-Q technology, an AI-powered system that optimizes laptop performance, power and efficiency. It enables laptop manufacturers to build powerful

machines in portable frames; GeForce laptops are the world’s thinnest highperformance machines – many designs are less than 20mm thick and weigh less than 1.8kg, meaning they’re ideal for students on-the-go.

Leveraging NVIDIA Advanced Optimus and Battery Boost technology, students can count on extended battery life, whether they’re working with popular STEM apps or indulging in gaming.
When gaming, students can look forward to an immersive experience that’s free from distractions thanks to WhisperMode 2.0. The efficiency focused technology is designed to minimize cooling fan noise, while still providing steady framerates and sharp visuals.
GEARED FOR GAMING
When it’s time to game, NVIDIA GeForce
laptops are agile performers that offer high quality visuals and smooth-as-silk framerates.
GeForce Game Ready Drivers deliver the best experience right from day one of a new game launch. Working in collaboration with developers, GPU drivers are tuned and extensively tested across thousands of hardware configurations for maximum performance and reliability. The drivers also feature tools to optimise game settings with a single click.
In the same vein, students can take advantage of NVIDIA DLSS, an AI-powered innovation that boosts framerates, while maintaining visual quality. DLSS is currently available in over 150 games including Spider-Man Remastered, God of War, Dying Light 2 Stay Human, Battlefield 2022 and Red Dead Redemption 2, while many more games will be added in the coming months.
In addition, GeForce laptops are a competitive gamers’ best friend; RTX 30 Series laptops offer the lowest latency and best responsiveness thanks to NVIDIA Reflex technology, which means it is easier to plan a move in advance or quickly line up a headshot. The technology is available for many games such as Valorant, Fornite, God of War, Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch and Apex Legends to name a few.
Taking all this into account, when it’s time for a new laptop for the new school year and beyond, it makes sense to opt for one equipped with GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs. These machines are ideal for students regardless of their requirements; hundreds of potential options are on the market with popular models being the ASUS TUF RTX 3050 , ASUS TUF RTX 3050TI, HP Pavilion RTX3050ti, MSI RTX 3060.

PRISTINE VIEWS LUCERNE, THE GATEWAY TO CENTRAL SWITZERLAND

Lucerne is magical with its impressive mountainous panorama, the beautiful lakeside setting, numerous town squares and churches and along with the historic buildings, the town has also earned a reputation for itself with innovative design.
The futuristic Culture and Convention Centre (KKL), designed by leading French architect Jean Nouvel, is one of the architectural highlights of the town and includes a concert hall, congress center and art museum. This is the best place to start your journey to explore this picturesque city.
The highlight of my visit to Lucerne each time is seeing the covered medieval Chapel Bridge that forms the centrepiece
of Lucerne’s townscape and is considered to be one of the oldest covered wooden bridges in Europe. Halfway across the Lucerne bridge, you can also see the Water Tower, another iconic landmark of Lucerne.

After crossing the bridge, head to the car-free old town spread across the north bank of the River Reuss and between city hall and Chapel Bridge and enjoy the old buildings adorned with murals, like an outdoor art gallery. There are numerous quaint cafes and restaurants with outdoor seating which are great to stop at for refreshments.
Another landmark of the town is the Museggmauer, a wall which, with the exception only of one of its towers,
has been preserved in its original, wellfortified state. Also recommended is the Bruch quarter, one of Lucerne’s trendiest neighborhoods featuring a wealth of culture, local handcrafts, bars and restaurants.
Lucerne’s regional mountains, the Pilatus has a panoramic view of 73 Alpine peaks, hiking trails from easy to alpine, an adventure park and a hotel on the top of the mountain. The Rigi is the queen of mountains with a stunning 360-degree panoramic view onto 13 lakes, into the Alps and towards the Black Forest.
My favourites are the excursion up onto the Stanserhorn and the steamship cruise on Lake Lucerne. The main attraction of Stanserhorn is the world’s first convertible cable car with a panoramic cabin. On the mountain itself, take in the views of the Alps and lakes, pay a visit to the revolving restaurant or walk to the summit.
A must stop is Europe’s largest and most comprehensive museum for mobility
equipped with an IMAX theatre. The Swiss Museum of Transport provides an interactive insight into the past, present and future of mobility with interactive and varied exhibits, theme parks and simulations. It includes everything that keeps the Swiss on the move - from transport on road, rail and water to air and space travel.
After a tour of Lucerne city, we spent a couple of nights in the monastery village of Engelberg, located 25km south of Lucerne in a wide mountain valley. Here we visited the spectacular glacier mountain Titlis, a base for all kinds of outdoor and adventure activities. My favourite was walking on the suspension bridge 500 meters off the ground (Cliff Walk) and being on the Ice Flyer glacier chairlift.
We enjoyed travelling all over the country with the Swiss Travel Pass. To get to Lucerne, we flew SWISS from Dubai to Zurich and used our Swiss Travel Pass to get to different parts of beautiful Switzerland.

HOLIDAY HIDEAWAY
Zermatt

Holidays mean relaxation, good food, long walks, fresh air and nature to me and my favourite place for this lies in Switzerland in Zermatt.
Situated far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life at an altitude of 1,600 metres above sea level, the historic village of Zermatt oozes with charm and the high street is lined with luxury shopping, worldclass restaurants and local gathering places post the day’s adventures.

I usually stay at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof, Zermatt, which is more like a second home for me in Zermatt because of the warmth of the staff, the hotel location and the fact that I can see the Matterhorn from my bed as I wake up in the morning.
Dominated by the Matterhorn, Zermatt is a rare place where everything works in synergy and GCC travellers can enjoy memorable summer and winter stays that include a generous breakfast buffet during the festive season at this majestic property.
My favourite memory from my visit is the transfer to and from the Zermatterhof and Zermatt station in a horse-drawn carriage – most places use an electric bus on the day of your arrival and departure but I always inform the desk on my preference before arrival.

Waking up at the Zermatterhof is magical as you take in the view of the Matterhorn and enjoy a generous breakfast buffet, Ronnefeldt-Tea, Nespresso coffee machine with capsules etc while catching up on reading, emails and generally checking out the activities in the village for that day.
Guests can also make use of the spa, pool, steam bath, saunas, jacuzzi, ice grotto and gym and wireless Internet in the room and in all public areas but to be honest, there is so much to do outdoors that you need an extra day just to enjoy the hotel.
Stepping into the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof is magical in winter and the hospitality and luxury takes on a whole new meaning. It is a hotel you want to spend time in, meet with other guests and enjoy a hot chocolate while gazing at the Matterhorn. At Grand Hotel Zermatterhof, dining in the evenings bring as much pleasure as the breakfast. Enjoy the classic dishes like Swiss Cheese fondue or international dishes done to perfection.
For ski enthusiasts, there is no better place than Zermatt to flirt with adventure and enjoy the sport with untouched stunning terrain and a helicopter to give you a lift there. Zermatt is the Alps’ largest heli-
skiing destination and offers the best snow with the stunning beauty of the Alps.

During my last visit to Zermatt with family, we did more exploring of the mountains, train rides to closer viewing points of the Matterhorn and the highlight for my daughter was the Glacier Palace.
The Glacier Palace was filled with sparkling ice sculptures enchanting visitors with artworks carved into different designs. It is a fairy-tale palace deep under the perennial snows leading through the glacier to sites such as a glacier crevasse and an ice toboggan run.
As a holiday destination, Zermatt is a private playground for guests who truly want to get away and indulge in a memorable holiday. For me, it is always a destination I go to whenever I am in Switzerland.

LA GIOIA DI POMELLATO
A Walk in Nature, from sunrise to darkness
Pomellato unveils its third La Gioia high jewellery collection A Walk in Nature, from sunrise to darkness.
The new collection portrays an imaginary landscape, where nature is evocative, never static or decorative, from the first rays of the rising sun to the mysteries of the night, expertly executed in Pomellato’s free-spirited style. The 33 jewels capture the light, moods and sensations in seven different themes expressed in the unique craftsmanship of the Milanese jeweler.
A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW
Always original, Pomellato never follows but makes its own path approaching nature in its singular way, in an intimate manner. Since 1967, the house’s pioneering designs have broken the rules of traditional jewellery to forge a style with the energy and excitement of fashion’s ready-to-wear. Sabina Belli, CEO of Pomellato says: ‘Our vision of fine jewellery is truly unique. The freedom of expression and unbridled creativity that have always made Pomellato different reach their full expression in La Gioia, bringing to life our idea that jewels should be easy and enjoyable to wear. For Italians, beauty is experienced on a daily basis. This is particularly true in Milan, a city of culture and design where in the 1960’s many of the great artistic trends of the 20th century emerged. It was in this creative atmosphere that Pomellato was born.’

THE CREATIVE INSPIRATION
Vincenzo Castaldo, Creative Director of Pomellato explains: ‘During this walk in the natural world, the language revolves around the feeling and sensations of the journey such as the texture of a flower petal, the nuances of a stormy sky or the beauty of a fiery sunset. We wanted La Gioia to generate emotions that blossom on the skin through organic jewellery that follows the movement of the body, adorning it with gold, stones, colours and light. Nature evolves throughout the day capturing its ever-changing facets, creating a dynamic dialogue in tune with our deeply rooted identity and iconic Pomellato style.’
Like all Pomellato’s jewels, from first design to final gem-setting, each one was created in the firm’s Casa Pomellato workshops in Milan. Masters of both contemporary design and traditional goldsmithing skills, this collection was entirely crafted by hand.
1. SECRETS OF THE RISING SUN
Two spectacular rivière-style necklaces feature baroque-shaped gemstones that tumble over the skin like morning’s first rays of sun over water. This is the first time Pomellato has used the soft edged forms of baroque-shape stones. Five watery blue aquamarines weighing over150 carats adorn the first necklace. Each aquamarine appears to be loosely bound to the necklace by diamondset gold wires. The other necklace, in a similar
design, features over 100 carats of opalescent, azure-hued moonstones, complemented by a blue sapphire pavé. In both necklaces, the central gems are suspended from an Iconica chain.
As if plucked from the waves, an impressive, roughly-shaped 107.8-carat aquamarine in saturated ocean-blue hues is suspended from diamond-set gold wires in a dramatic asymmetrical necklace. The irregular sizes of the rose and white gold links echo the flowing harmony of this sea-inspired creation.
2. SUMMER STORM
Working with infinite shades of grey, five jewels express the theatre of a summer thunderstorm. The sautoirs of white South Sea and grey Tahitian pearls are in a graduation of tones and sizes that is echoed in the flashing brilliance of bluish-grey spinels, sapphires and white diamonds that are set into both sides of the outsize links in these subtle and sophisticated jewels. The version featuring two large links has a chain back-section, allowing it to be worn in various ways.
In the earrings, a waterfall of 24 cushion-cut grey spinels weighing 44.5-carats cascade down from the lobe in a gradient of dark purple to deep blue-black. The palette is made all the more intense by the invisible titanium frame and a sprinkling of diamonds that sparkle like raindrops.
A second pair of earrings expresses the enigmatic beauty of a rain shower. They begin with two orbs set with slate-grey spinels and sapphires from which hangs a row of delicate rose-cut diamonds backed with blue grey spinels, and end in tear-drop shape Tahitian pearls.
A voluptuous rose gold ring entirely swathed in shades of blue-grey spinels, sapphires and white diamonds perfectly mimics the billowing forms of majestic rain clouds. The ring is an exuberant evolution of the house’s famous gourmette links.

3. SHADES OF THE RAINBOW
After the storm, a rainbow lights up the sky, a radiant gift of nature that Pomellato honours in a flexible cuff bracelet set with more than 2,500 colour gemstones. This dazzling creation is composed of domed links in rose gold set with 24 different shades of gems. Pomellato’s passion for colour shines out in this composition created with stones selected for their brilliance from around the world. In this masterpiece of colour, Pomellato plays with chromatic graduations in a highly original design. The powerful green of emeralds is matched by the minty tones of tsavorites. In the blue palette, the ocean-tones of sapphires give way to the purple and turquoise hues of tanzanites, aquamarines and Paraiba toumalines. Shades of red are expressed in a flamboyant explosion of rubies, spinels and pink sapphires.
4. MIDDAY GOLD
Midday Gold offers three Princess-style necklaces that capture the power of daylight in three emblematic and highly contemporary Pomellato designs. By mixing the geometry of gold oblong links with the suppleness of white gold gourmette links paved with immaculate diamonds, the jeweller creates a
vivid contrast of materials reinforced by the presence of a bright, luminous centre stone. The show-stopping gemstones are suspended from a diamond-set curb chain joining rose gold cable links. Each gemstone is intricately facetted and generous in volume and surrounded by white diamonds for a highvoltage look.

The first necklace is set with an unusual lagoon-green 17.9-carat Paraiba tourmaline, while the second features a 18.55-carat soft pink morganite reminiscent of the petals of a peony. The third version showcases a 15.65-carat sea blue aquamarine. Seven distinctive gemstone rings join the necklaces. Each stone has been selected for its magnetic appeal and the force of its beauty enhanced by rose gold over-sized bezels and mounted on a chain-link shank. Depending on the size of the gemstone, they are set with over 300 to 400 diamonds. The central stones are each approximately 25 carats in size. A doublechain bracelet in rose gold with a round clasp set with diamonds completes the theme.
5. INTO THE SUNSET
Pomellato channels the golden glow of the setting sun in two remarkable necklaces. The first is composed of a double row of auburncoloured amber beads from the island of Santo Domingo and an extremely rare Melo pearl that weighs close to 63 carats. Highly sought after for its orange flame and porcelain-like luminosity, the Melo pearl sits at the centre of a rose gold medallion with an openwork foliage pattern of Japanese inspiration. Mandarin sapphires and brown diamonds add to the burnished bronze palette of the jewel.
Highly tactile and warm on the skin, amber also features in the second necklace with irregular-shaped Mexican amber beads in burgundy hues. This Y-chain necklace has
four rose gold medallions decorated with an openwork bamboo leaf pattern set with brown and white diamonds. This same bamboo leaf openwork appears in a pair of matching rose gold earrings. A ring burns with the intensity of the setting sun thanks to a 46.9-carat mandarin garnet cabochon and a pavé setting of brown diamonds and orange sapphires, a flamboyant metaphor of a setting sun that never dips below the horizon.
La Gioia, A Walk in Nature, from sunrise to darkness is a testament to Pomellato’s unique interpretation of nature. These jewels capture the impossible: fleeting moments, mesmerising plays of light, intriguing shadows and vibrant bursts of colour.

ROYAL OAK SELFWINDING CHRONOGRAPHS AUDEMARS PIGUET

Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet is pleased to unveil two new versions of the Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph in 41 mm. To coincide with the Royal Oak’s 50th anniversary, each reference benefits from the Manufacture’s latest design evolution debuting across the collection in 2022. Executed in a choice of 18-carat white or yellow gold, the case and bracelet elegantly shimmer with Frosted Gold.
Each model is enhanced by a Grande Tapisserie dial matched to the case’s colour and contrasted with black counters. Lastly, each timepiece is equipped with the Manufacture’s latest generation flyback chronograph movement, the selfwinding Calibre 4401.
A NEW DESIGN EVOLUTION
To celebrate the Royal Oak’s 50th anniversary, both the white and the yellow gold case, paired with matching integrated bracelets, encompass the model’s new design evolution which makes its debut this year and is simultaneously presented on many Royal Oak models measuring 34, 37, 38 and 41 mm.
The case and bracelet are endowed with larger polished chamfers which engage with light more noticeably, thereby intensifying the sparkling interaction with the adjacent Frosted Gold finish. Audemars Piguet has also made subtle modifications to the sapphire caseback, improving its integration with the case to sit more comfortably on the wrist.

A SHIMMERING SPARKLE
The model’s contrasting textures confer a shimmering sparkle – from the grained yet smooth expanses of Frosted Gold and polished chamfers adorning the case and bracelet to the guilloché Grande Tapisserie dial.
The richly textured appearance of the Frosted Gold employs a technique also known as the Florentine finish, produced in collaboration with Italian jewellery designer Carolina Bucci. The resultant “diamonddust” effect is achieved by gently tapping the case and bracelet with a diamond-tipped tool. This artisanal process imbues the various surfaces with small indentations which exhibit a brilliant appearance similar to that of precious stones.
AN ELEGANT CONTRAST
The colour of the case and bracelet determines the tone of the Grande Tapisserie dial. The three black counters positioned on the dial provide an elegant contrast with the adjacent grey or yellow-gold-toned hues, while the Royal Oak hands and hour-markers, filled with luminescent coating, echo the respective dial colour.
A FULLY INTEGRATED CHRONOGRAPH
At the heart of each reference is the Manufacture’s latest generation chronograph movement, the selfwinding Calibre 4401. It is fully integrated and features a column wheel and a flyback function. Unlike a regular chronograph, the flyback function allows the wearer to stop, reset and start the chronograph in one simple action. The column wheel works in collaboration with a vertical clutch system. When starting or stopping the chronograph, the hands respond accordingly without any hint of jumping.
Furthermore, the push-pieces feel smooth when pressed. A patented zero resetting mechanism ensures that each one of the counter hands instantaneously resets to zero. The movement is adorned with refined finishing, including Côtes de Genève, circular graining, circular satin and polished chamfers throughout. Visible through the sapphire caseback, these decorations further the two timepieces’ elegant aesthetic.

The iconic Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) will reopen to the public next month following a facilities enhancement project and the reimagination and reinstallation of its permanent collection galleries. One of the world’s premier institutions of Islamic art and the first world class museum in the region, MIA will re-open in time for the influx of visitors to Doha for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and provide a more accessible, engaging, and educational experience for guests.
More than 1,000 objects – many newly conserved or acquired – will be displayed in the Museum’s permanent galleries for the first time, alongside the masterpieces for which the MIA has long been recognized. Shortly after its reopening, MIA will present the landmark temporary exhibition, Baghdad: Eye’s Delight (26 October 2022 – 25 February 2023), which introduces and celebrates one of world’s most influential cities, looking at its heritage as the capital of the great Abbasid caliphs (750-1258 CE) and its
legacy in the 20th century, when the city again became a thriving centre for the arts, culture, and commerce.
The reopening of the MIA is part of Qatar Creates — the year-round national cultural movement that curates, promotes, and celebrates the diversity of cultural activities in Qatar; connecting resident and global audiences with Qatar’s creative industries.
The MIA, an architectural tour de force designed by internationally acclaimed Pritzker Prize-winning architect I.M. Pei, which opened in 2008, was the first institution opened by Qatar Museums under the leadership of Chairperson, Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Prominently positioned on its own reclaimed island on the Corniche, specifically chosen by Pei, the Museum is a beacon for Islamic arts and a platform for international dialogue and exchange bridging past and present, East and West.

The reimagining of the collection galleries introduces a comprehensive visitor trail, creates expanded interpretive materials to help contextualise the masterworks, and provides new mobile and childfriendly resources to make the Museum more accessible for families and younger guests.
The galleries will be organised according to broad historical and cultural themes, periods and geography, and will explore the great traditions of Islamic craftsmanship. MIA will also introduce a new section on Islam in Southeast Asia and focus on the connection between different cultures through exhibits on the trade of commodities and the exchange of ideas across the Islamic World and beyond.
To celebrate its reopening, Qatar Museums and Thames & Hudson have copublished the beautifully illustrated 500+ page catalogue dedicated to the history and collection of the Museum of Islamic Art.

MOTION AND BEAUTY APREAMARE'S NEW GOZZO 45
The enchanting setting of the Croisette will see the world premiere of Gozzo 45 as the flagship of the elegant Gozzo line, which continues the renewal of the Apreamare range by reinterpreting the traditional lines of the ancient gozzo.
Apreamare, founded in 1849, is one of the best known...in the world. Founded in 1849. The boutique shipyard is the reference brand of the typical Sorrentine gozzo, bringing the charm of tradition, seafaring and Mediterranean style to the world.
This modern revisitation of the old days aims to satisfy the desires of those who long to experience the sea with enthusiasm and passion.
Apreamare, after the success of the Gozzo 35, the best seller of the range with over 30

units sold, chooses the Cannes Yachting Festival 2022 to premiere the new Gozzo 45, an elegant and classy cruiser with a strongly Mediterranean timelessness, starting from the total absence of steps on deck, in full compliance with the walkaround philosophy.
Conceived by Cataldo Aprea with the architect Marco Casali of Too-Design, who handled the design of the exterior lines and interior, and the engineer Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design, who projected the hull, the Gozzo 45 is characterized by numerous elements that favor open spaces to offer a quality of life on board unique in the segment: the exceptionally generous stern platform,
two large sunbeds, the table for 8 people in the cockpit, the bow lounge, the large walkways and the high bulwarks.
Below deck, on one hand, the new Gozzo 45 can surprise with a two-cabin layout, served by a dinette and two bathrooms, and, on the other, an optional layout offers three cabins and two bathrooms, unique in the segment. In both versions, there is close continuity with the outside, favoring space, air and natural light.

As far as performance is concerned, the Gozzo 45 is faithful to the maritime tradition from which she descends with outstanding seaworthiness, thanks to a very low roll both under way and at
anchor. The hull has variable geometry with a deep V and was designed to synergize with both of the proposed propulsion systems: traditional shaft line or Volvo Penta IPS.
On display, there will also be the Gozzo 35, which is the ideal choice for those who want a walkaround with compact dimensions, without sacrificing elegance, comfort and habitability.
She falls into the category of boats with a maximum length of 9.95 meters, but hosts expansive habitats on board, starting with the comfortable sofa/ sunbed at the stern and the table, perfect for organizing pleasant outdoor dinners.
BUILT FOR DISTANCE

SHERPA
SHERPA 80 XL continues to win praise: an Italian couple with extensive experience owning sailing yachts have launched their first motor yacht, featuring a custom layout and personalised decor created through close collaboration between the Owners and the Yard.
The new unit of the hugely successful SHERPA 80 XL model created by ARCADIA YACHTS, the Yard founded by Ugo Pellegrini, offers ever present contact with nature, incredible liveability with plenty of space devoted to life at sea and socialising, continuity between exteriors and interiors, glazed surfaces and opening windows, and the use of solar panels, lowpower devices and LED lighting.
Arcadia Yachts was founded in 2008 by Ugo Pellegrino and is based on the Sorrento coast, near Capri and just a few kilometres from the Pompei Archaeological Park, in a modern 47,000-square-metre facility where the company builds yachts with green credentials and an unmistakable style synonymous with innovation, excellence and Italian design.
MY “Mabelle”, the fourth SHERPA 80XL unit, entered the water in the first half of
August in the magnificent stretch of sea between Capri and the Sorrento peninsula, watched by the Owners, the yard’s management and all the craftsmen who contributed to the yacht’s construction.
Sherpa 80 XL, with a length of 24 meters and a beam of 7 meters, offers extensive customisation options to meet the Owners’ wishes down to the smallest detail. Which is why “Mabelle”, launched on the beautiful Sorrento coast, features colours, liveability, practicality and a marine style that set it apart from previous models.
The Italian Owners, who have extensive experience with sailing yachts around the world, working in close collaboration with Arcadia Yachts’ decor and style professionals, have created another unique vessel.

Inspired by muted colours, the recently launched model eliminates contrasts and becomes one with the blue sky and sea, even in the interiors. With four cabins characterised by generous spaces and elegant solutions, it provides over 200 square meters of interiors and exteriors that can be used year-round, as well as offering sweeping views and every
comfort.
The exceptionally spacious lazarette is totally free of water toys and the tender, which are stowed in the side garage. The boat can be enjoyed to the full at any time of day, offering genuine well-being, relaxation and the chance to enjoy a peaceful holiday at sea.
A kind of convertible “JARDIN D’HIVER” has been created on the aft deck, with sliding glass doors aft and on either side so that it can be closed off and the dining area heated or cooled. This solution allows the area to be used throughout the year.
The two Volvo Penta IPS 1350 engines provide a range of over 1200 nautical miles at a leisurely cruising speed of about 10 knots. The top speed is about 23 knots in test conditions.
The yacht is aligned with Arcadia Yachts’ design philosophy, which focuses on the use of renewable energy to reduce environmental impact, and is fitted with solar panels that provide around 3 kW of clean energy, enough to power the yacht’s main hospitality services.
ETIHAD AIRWAYS NEW INITIATIVE FOR BIODIVERSITY
Following the launch of the Etihad Forest, Etihad’s initiative for biodiversity, wildlife and environmental protection through a network of mangrove and other forests being established in Abu Dhabi and around the world, Etihad Airways has committed to adopt a mangrove tree on behalf of every guest who books an Economy Space seat, ensuring every “space” seat sold is eventually carbon neutral.
Launched in February 2022, the Etihad Mangrove Forest is aiming to plant 182,000 mangrove trees by the first quarter of 2023 in Abu Dhabi, before the next phase of the programme to plant new forests in international destinations. Mangroves remove up to four times more carbon dioxide from the air than other tropical forests, helping to fight the effects of climate change such as coral bleaching and coastline degradation, as

well as support biodiversity and wildlife as an important habitat for fish, birds and other wildlife.
Through the initiative, Etihad will plant one mangrove tree in locations in Abu Dhabi for each economy space seat purchased on any Etihad Airways flight. Each mangrove planted will absorb up to 250kg of CO2 in its lifetime – the same amount produced by an eight-hour flight.
Every guest who books an Economy Space Seat will receive confirmation of their gifted mangrove in the Etihad Forest within 10 days of flying. From the email link, guests have the ability to track, virtually visit, see photos and other details of their tree, confirming the carbon offset for their recent travel. Guests have the option to register their claimed tree so they can easily revisit their tree at a later day. Through the
platform’s app, Etihad guests can “chat” with their chatbot enabled tree, while also being able to track every tree with satellite maps and access data, including CO2 consumption metrics which can be tracked.
The Etihad Forest is the next step in Etihad’s sustainability journey, built on the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 aircraft under the airline’s Greenliner and Sustainable50 initiatives, and follows the launch of Etihad Guest’s sustainability-linked loyalty initiative, Conscious Choices. The initiative allows Etihad to explore opportunities in carbon projects to further endorse Abu Dhabi’s commitment to sustainability and is an evolution of these programmes to reach across the whole supply chain, ensuring longevity, success and protection of the plants long term.

Hence the newest generation’s styling is strongly influenced by aerodynamic features including the front grilles, front splitter, rear diffuser and rear spoiler in distinctive highor low-gloss black and Magnetic finishes. Unique 19-inch wheels are finished in moody, low-gloss Dark Tarnish.
My favourite visual was the shark fin antenna and the bold combinations for body colour and bonnet with side stripes. I drove the Fighter Jet Grey with Satin Black/Reflective Orange
stripes. The Mach 1 logo appears on the rear deck-lid and on front wings.
Aerodynamic enhancements include new two-piece upper as well as lower and side grilles for improved cooling, and a new front splitter, undertray, single-deck rear spoiler and performance rear diffuser for optimised downforce and aero balance.
The lengthened undertray also uses dedicated fins to direct cooling air to the brakes, which themselves feature a higher specification brake booster for consistently responsive braking performance. The unique five-spoke 19inch alloy wheels are 0.5 inches wider front and rear and fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres are perfect for outstanding grip on road and track.
INTERIOR
Inside, leather sports seats feature Metal
Grey stitching. Each Mustang Mach 1 interior includes a dashboard badge with Mach 1 logo and build number. Standard comfort and convenience technologies include heated and cooled front seats and a premium 12-speaker B&O Sound System.
ENGINE & PERFORMANCE
The new Mach 1 comes with 5.0 litre V8 power boosted to 480 hp for 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The 10-speed auto transmission is mated with a limited-slip differential. With unique transmission specifications, the Mustang Mach 1 also introduces bespoke aerodynamics and new performance cooling systems for greater agility and consistent on-track performance.
Further enhancing the performance driving experience, Mustang Mach 1 continues to deliver Mustang selectable

Drive Modes including Sport and Track modes, enabling drivers to try different drive options, all viewed in the standard 12-inch all-digital instrument cluster.

Six-piston BremboTM brake callipers support 100-0 km/h stopping distances of less than 32 metres. Combining with enhanced aerodynamics to deliver Mustang’s sharpest directional changes and it comes with electric power-assisted steering.

VERDICT
With Mach 1, the Mustang driving experience is more satisfying than ever. My drive experience was exhilarating as I found the car responsive and engaging. It was fast, handled beautifully and has a striking look with the true muscle power you expect from a Mustang.

EFFORTLESS POWER AND EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE
THE ALL-NEW TAHOE RST
By Shereen ShabnamTahoe is a name known for the go to SUV globally when we think about adventure, off-road, and big family gatherings and picnics. Chevrolet recently introduced the all new 2022 Tahoe RST trim, unleashing new levels of on-road performance.

EXTERIOR
The new Chevrolet Tahoe RST is domineering on the road, with a low front fascia, black grille, black bowtie badging, and darkened chrome accents to emphasize its bold sportiness. Combined, those aesthetic accents solidify the RST as the leader in on-road performance across the full-size SUV segment.
INTERIOR
As you step into the new Tahoe, everything you need is right where it should be and the cabin is full of drivercentric enhancements like an available class-exclusive 15-inch Head-Up Display, a 10.2-inch diagonal Chevrolet Infotainment System with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and an available class-leading nine camera views.
It also has best-in-class Rear Seat Entertainment System that keeps passengers entertained thanks to a pair of 12.6-inch diagonal LCD touchscreens – each capable of displaying its own content.

Tahoe also offers class-leading nine camera views to help you drive with absolute confidence and be able to maneuver into a tight space or be able to see easily what is behind you.
PERFORMANCE
The all-new Tahoe RST trim introduces new levels of performance and style to the fullsize SUV segment. The engine’s capacity boasts 420HP @5,600 RPM and 624 Nm of torque @4,100 rpm. A fine engine with plenty of low-end torque and more than enough power to move the SUV with ease.
The power is delivered efficiently and effortlessly from the engine to the tires through a 10-speed automatic gearbox perfect for towing and hauling. The SUV’s impressive body sits on GM’s Magnetic Ride Control, coupled with standard FourCorner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, adjusting between four ride heights to emphasize control, comfort, and efficiency.

Despite the size, the SUV performed like a charm around tight turns and corners, as well as long stretches of road and track. Considering the RST’s remarkable body mass and power, the SUV comes with optional front and rear Chevrolet Performance Brembo brakes to execute the highest braking performance available in a full-size SUV.
VERDICT
Wherever you go, Tahoe is an SUV that is ready for it. We love the powerful engine, the Dynamic Fuel Management technology, the drive assist systems, the storage space and so many more features that are impressive.
Tahoe delivers the unique combination of thrilling power and a luxuriously smooth ride that is perfect for both city drives and desert adventures.

THE QUINTESSENTIAL DENALI

The 2022 Terrain Denali we drove is a small luxury SUV that takes bold design, premium materials and first-class comfort and versatility to the next level. We like the new exclusive Denali styling

INTERIOR
As always, Denali offers the highest level of premium features in the cabin. Denali models now have an exclusive interior and feature a completely new instrument

Intricate design details throughout the interior deliver unmatched Denali style. We liked the embroidered Denali logo in headrest, the comfortable seats and my 21-year-old loved the Bose 7-speaker system which produced premium sound for her bouts of loud singing moments.
EXTERIOR
The new Denali has a powerful stance

and comes with exclusive features such as LED headlamps, 19” wheels and the multidimensional Denali grille.
The signature C-shaped lighting and headlamps provide brilliant LED light to help cut through darkness, while the stunning C-shaped lighting on the tail lamps complete Terrain Denali’s strong design from front to back
ENGINE & PERFORMANCE
Denali is designed to help you conquer any road, comfortably. Uniquely tuned suspension valving and urethane spring isolators help deliver a uniquely smooth, quiet and premium ride. A 1.5-liter
four-cylinder engine and nine-speed automatic transmission are standard in every model and there is an option for a 2.0L Turbocharged engine (SLE AWD & SLT).
TECHNOLOGY

VERDICT
Adding fun and practicality to the journey on the road, the Terrain has gained popularity in the Middle East. GMC continues to strengthen its positioning as a SUV that delivers the perfect blend of fun and adventure drive capabilities.

CONNECT - EXPLORE - DESIGN
Interview with James Hutchinson
In this issue we meet with the founder of CHRONEVO, a British-owned independent brand design studio and automotive online magazine based in the UAE where the team comes with a passion for creative design and motoring.

James is a prolific content creator and shares his motoring life in small adventures via CHRONEVO. As Chief Rescue for Formula 1, Yas Marina Instructor, avid karting enthusiast, the holder of car, motorcycle, and truck licenses, he shares a passion from a personal perspective, attracting greater enthusiasm for those that connect and follow his new world of CHRONEVO. We ask James about his new venture and his future aspirations for CHRONEVO.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEW VENTURE CHRONEVO?
CHRONEVO is all about design. For us, design isn’t only a process of creation, but also an entity that creates another company’s symphony. Our people provide a wide range of creative design services for businesses and individuals around the world, ensuring we make the journey more enjoyable. Our design process follows the ethos where we Connect first, Explore next and then Design.
TELL US MORE ABOUT THE THREE STEPS OF YOUR DESIGN PROCESS?
We start with CONNECT. Emotional connection is key and growing strong connections with your customers is
valuable to both sides. Listening and sharing a true interest in your customer’s life ensures our bond increases with more personal and human interaction, keeping things non-transactional, and maintaining an empathetic and humanitarian outlook throughout. Longlasting loyal relationships are born from this and can only grow stronger during and after any transactions.
We move on to EXPLORE. With everything, there is a general need to explore the journey and possibilities to meet people’s goals. Sometimes this means stepping outside of the usual channels and formats, to find a new direction that stands out from the crowd.
Then we DESIGN. We live in a world of
design. Branding and business design come from the elements that have been built through exploration. A small example of this would be a logo. Many do not have a story to go with their logos. But as insignificant as it may seem, a logo can be the start of many new connections. Sharing a story is one of our key elements in getting our brands across to people and businesses. Stories help us to emotionally connect, and allow us to explore and design our journeys towards the ultimate personal or company goals.
WE FIND THE LOGO OF CHRONEVO INTERESTING - HOW HAS THAT EVOLVED INTO THE DESIGN IT IS TODAY?
CHRONEVO’s logo represents two journeys. One of myself and one of the UAE. Back in 1971, the UAE became independent, while at the same time I was brought into the world. At this time the UAE was trading in pearls. This element can be seen at the centre of the wings.
The pearl is also my birthstone. This has been centred within the wings, depicting
both the shaheen (Hawk) that adorns many of the UAE crests and emblems and a highlight of 18 years of Army aviation service of myself. The text is a breakdown of two words. Chronicles is an old English word that highlights the historical account of events written in time order, and Evolution is the process by which the physical characteristics change and develop over time. Effectively sharing CHRONEVO as the Evolution of stories.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR CHRONEVO?

While building and growing the branding and marketing side of the business of CHRONEVO, I am following my passion for cars by including an online motoring blog within CHRONEVO.

As a driver trainer, I am enjoying my time on the tracks at Yas Marina while testing cars with different brands as an influencer under the name 'Supercar Baldie'. This is an exciting journey for me as I also get to do a lot of automotive photography which I am passionate about as well. I look forward to collaborating with different motoring brands in the UAE and being of service to all that wish to progress with their business brand and marketing requirements.

CONNECTING WITH YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE

As a pioneer in the PR industry in the GCC and working in the marketing/ media landscape for over twenty years, I often get asked to brainstorm on new campaigns by inhouse publicity teams and marketing agencies.

One question that comes up regularly is how to connect with a brand's target community and meet their needs. For organisations looking to make an impact, building relationships, and bringing value to people beyond the walls of the office is important.
Most of the time, events are the best way to connect with a target group whether it is with customers, stakeholders or a charity organisation. The success of a

campaign lies in how you select, market, organize, execute, and follow up on your event to raise awareness of your products or services to those who are most likely to benefit from them.
I often ask my clients to start a campaign by first identifying why they need to do an event and setting goals that highlight why it is worthy of the personal attendance by those who matter or why their key audience should be there.
If an organisation's goal includes promoting a new location, introducing a new program to a relevant audience, building a niche following or showing support for your community, then it is worth doing an event. Setting goals is
a great way to make sure all marketing efforts are focused on positive returnson-investment (ROI).
Events also offer a great opportunity to connect interpersonally with your audience. You can measure an event’s success by leads generated through emails you can follow up on or connections you made.
Events have the potential to open opportunities to reach new target audiences if you set the right goals and you can measure the success of an event via leads you generate and business converted with your outreach initiatives and by bringing people together.
EVENT OVERVIEW
The MENA region’s location provides it with great potential to become a global destination for travel and tourism. Being geographically close to key regions, such as Europe, Africa, and Asia, has facilitated the growth of tourism in the region, which in turn has largely contributed to the economy over the past years. With several global heritage and religious sites, modern attractions, and leisure destinations, over 50 million tourists visit the region every year.

In this light, the MENA Attractions & Destinations Forum is taking place on 28-29 September 2022 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to discuss the region’s visions for the industry and explore upcoming projects and how to drive growth sustainably and effectively. The Forum will host over 300 international and regional stakeholders from key sectors, including governments, tourism agencies and consultancies, hotel chains, park owners and operators, museums, culture and heritage site authorities, technology and solution providers, and investment institutions.
