Although innovation requires financial investment, the overriding

priority of the military must be the safety of the people it puts into harm’s way. Staying still carries with it a cost as we’ll see in the next article. Older technologies are more fragile, will require extensive maintenance and replacement. Because of this, as well as the rise of more powerful weapons, forces must embrace the latest protective equipment.
