ARTIST : ALFONSO WONG 王家禧 ORIGIN : HONG KONG 香港 If you want to ask which comic strip in Chinese history has never died out, has endured on the sales ladder, and has become a part of the international Chinese society, undoubtedly it is Alfonso Wong's Old Master Q. The cartoon first appeared in the newspapers and magazines in Hong Kong in 1962, and later serialised in 1964.

The comic is still in publication today.

The overall theme of the comics centers around humour, with characters usually portrayed in a variety of social statuses, professions and time periods, ranging from beggars and office workers to actors and ancient warriors, which allows for a wide variety of scenarios to explore. More outlandish situations incorporate surrealism, close encounters with aliens, ghost sightings, and the afterlife.

While Old Master Q comics primarily focuses on humour, it also reflects changing social trends, particularly from the 1960s to the 1980s. The comics would sometimes feature societal problems in urban life, such as poverty, petty thefts and secret societies. “I believe art is important in developing my child’s iq & eq” My daughter’s friend studied at globalart and she showed great development and noticeably better in art and social skills, so I decided to enroll my daughter with globalart and it has been a good 3 years! Nutnapin is happy to study at globalart where I don’t even have to remind her on her weekly lesson. Her best improvement since joining globalart is her concentration, she can now concentrates on her work much better and I can also see her confidence through her art skills, creativity and imagination in many of her artworks! I chose globalart because it gives me the opportunity to develop creative thinking, art, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and at the same time teaching the same to children! To share a point, please allow me to share my GREEN ELEPHANT story, my student once drew an elephant and coloured it in green! Puzzled and I asked “Do you know what is an elephant and its color?”

He said he knew that elephants are grey and brown. Then I asked him “Why is your elephant green?” He explained with confidence that his elephant ate grass which has Chlorophyll so it turns green. I was so impressed and happy with his creativity. The globalart programme can let students learn about systematic thinking, the best choice to solve a problem, globalart also have a wide variety of courses which are continuously updated with the emphasis to develop and expand children’s creative thinking and potential.

I love Visual Art! When art is wholly integrated into children it enables them to explore learning naturally and with globalart programmes not only it builds up children’s art skills but also develops my passion in teaching children. globalart programmes multiple levels will allow children to enhance their creative and innovative thinking, and that is why globalart is so successful and well liked by our students not to mention many also took part in our National & International Art Competitions. My proudest memorable moments is when my students are able to complete an artwork confidently and creatively in front of a live audience and many parents thanked us for providing these opportunities to exhibit their children’s potential. “growing together not only in business but also as a person” I have been with globalart for 10 years, growing together not only in business but also as a person. I started with a very minimum set-up but today we have our own building and training facilities and I am looking forward to open a 3rd centre.

Seeing children’s joy is my primary motive in this business and I still remember my 1st student who is probably in the university now, and interestingly I met another student of mine recently and she showed me her artworks and there were incredible! She talked about how she still remembers my teaching points. You know as a teacher, hearing that is like FINDING AN OASIS IN THE DESERT! I always try to introduce something new in my center every month such as the facilities, decorations, furniture, pictures and more.

By doing so my students keep coming back as they know we are always improving… just like how we wanted them too.

Open to globalart students (Active with a minimum of 3 months into the course during registration).

Please submit your Registration Form/Entry Slip before the closing date on 20th August 2015.

Contestants must wear globalart T-Shirt.

Please present Entry Slip upon registration.

Only Original Entry Slip is accepted.

Please attach/clip Entry Slip at the back of the contest paper.

Contestants are required to bring their own drawing and colouring materials.

No glue/glitter is allowed during competition.

Entries received after the closing date/time will not be accepted.

All contest drawings/entries are non returnable and shall become the property of the organiser. globalart reserves the right to publicise the winners’ names, images & artwork at any time.

Registration fee is non refundable or transferable. globalart will not be liable for any loss of personal belongings, injuries and/or damages occured before/during/after competition.

• Judges' decision is final and no appeal will be entertained.
