Hop into the world of chemical engineering

If your high school days are over, there’s nothing to look forward to but entering in college. But, most of the students are still finding it difficult to decide on the course that they will take. It is for the reason that once you’ve chosen that path, it will definitely mark and shape up your future and there’s no turning back.

Though some usually opt for in-demand courses, it doesn’t have to be that as always. One drawback of having the same course as most of the students will mean you have a bigger competition in landing the same job at the time you finished college. On the other hand, they can still get away with this problem at an earlier stage by picking a course that is more of a challenge like Chemical Engineering. I, Vicente E. Garcia, will shed light into the world of Chemical Engineering.

What is Chemical Engineering? Looking back, Chemical Engineering was developed for the production of chemicals solely. But now, this branch of engineering has come a long way. Today, Chemical Engineering extends its techniques to create different materials such as fibers, gasoline, paints, medical drugs and much more. Beyond the general concept about Chemical Engineering lie the job responsibilities that an engineer should do on duty:

They must work closely with control engineers and process chemists to make sure that the process plant is working properly. They design the plant and equipment configurations but making sure that economic and environmental factors are being considered. Aside from the design, they should also be able to do appropriate changes in the configuration of the equipment design. Evaluating options whether to do a plant expansion or reconfiguration through tests. Developing production through analysis and de-bottleneck studies. Researching new products and improving on current product lines. Must keep potential safety issues considered at all stages.

While this may be overwhelming for someone who will just be entering college, it is better to know this first hand for you to be able to have a glimpse on the job that you will land to if ever you finished college. Even though earning a degree in this course may seem a struggle or will be difficult, you may want to know how it will benefit you in the future.

Excellent Pay + Benefits As you may clearly see, the job description is crucial and seems needs a lot of thinking. But, Chemical Engineers are highly-paid professionals. According to statistics, an average earning is almost $98,000 per year. Aside from their salary, they also get a generous benefits package.

No boredom Even if you are just studying, the world of Chemical engineering is much more of a challenge and will let you think most of the time. It is even proven during the actual job. There is constant research, creative thinking, and computations going on so there’s no way you will encounter boredom.\ Aside from the benefits, it is also wiser to know the downfall of having this kind of job in the future. They may be exposed to toxic chemicals if there’s an accident. There is also a poor job prospect for Chemical Engineers but with the growing new technologies, there is still hope in the future.
