Darts players support rural firies

Surfcity Darts Club held a fundraiser at its Glass House Mountains clubhouse on Australia Day raising $500 for the Glass House Mountains Rural Fire Brigade.

The day was a great success, club secretary Karen Hawkins said.

“We’ve not long set up our new clubhouse on Steve Irwin Way, in the old Scouts shed over the road from the Glasshouse Mountains Sports Club, but already darts players and locals are supporting us, which is really great,” Karen said.

Accepting the cheque for the rural fire brigade, Steve Rook thanked the club and said the money would go to a very worthy project.

“We are looking to expand the sheds at Glass House so that we can house another fire truck, so this money will go a fair way towards making that happen,” Steve said.

The Surfcity Darts Club is open to anyone looking to have fun and play a game and is open to all abilities – whether socially or competitively.

The newly refurbished clubhouse is open every Friday from 4-11pm, with bar facilities and snacks.

If you would like to join a very social group, Karen invites interested people to come down on Friday to have a go and have a drink.

“You don’t need to know the rules and you don’t need your own darts. We can provide you with darts and there are lots of experience players who are more than happy to show you the ins and outs of darts and give you lessons,” Karen said.
