Thank you Glam Week magazine for the opportunity to share the inspiration behind founding This Is Icon, a renowned events company that combines fashion and music for charity during London Fashion Week. When I founded This Is Icon, my vision was to create a platform that celebrated the power of fashion and music to inspire positive change in the world. I have always been fascinated by the transformative nature of these art forms and their ability to bring people together, spark conversations, and ignite movements. The inspiration for This Is Icon came from a desire to merge the glamour and creativity of the fashion industry with the universal language of music, all in support of charitable causes. London Fashion Week, being one of the most prestigious events in the fashion calendar, provided the perfect backdrop for our vision to unfold. Can you share your initial reaction when you were approached to walk for the Malan Breton fashion show? What drew you to the opportunity?

Sheer excitement!

Malan is one of the purest and most gorgeous souls I have ever met. When I first walked for him he made me feel so welcome and my nerves evaporated, so being asked to walk for him again was wonderful.

What was the most memorable moment from your experience on the runway for Malan Breton’s show? Any behind-thescenes anecdotes you can share?

Wearing the beautiful ballgown to close the show was an experience I shall never forget. I was convinced I was going to fall over, but the piece itself was so light and easy to wear that I ended up not wanting to take it off!

Fashion shows are known for their unique atmosphere. How did you prepare yourself mentally and physically for the runway?

Staying calm is always hard for me! I make sure I have some tea, maybe some music and I try and steady my breath. Yoga helps too!

Malan Breton is known for his distinctive style. How did you feel wearing his designs, and what did you appreciate most about the collection you showcased?

Malan has this wonderful ability to make the most stylish suits, and the most outrageous ballgowns. Having that range means that anyone can feel incredibly beautiful in his designs. I know I do.

How did it feel when you found out that your red carpet look, styled by your best friend and fashion editor Steve Vyse and featuring Malan’s designs, made it into Vogue magazine after you wore it at your mum’s movie premiere for Matilda?

Honoured and ecstatic for Malan. But, then again, I think all his designs should be in Vogue.

Many aspiring models and actresses look up to your career. What advice would you give to those aspiring to walk the runway for renowned designers like Malan Breton?

Breathe. Try not to look at your feet and have fun! At the end of the day the design is supposed to make you feel beautiful, elegant and powerful. Something Malan does so well.

rooke, can you share a special moment or memory from your journey as a fashion designer that touched your heart and made you realize this is what you truly love to do?

My special moment from my journey as a fashion designer that touched my heart and made me realize that this is what I truly love to do is when I designed a dress for Ms. Tabitha Brown. I was so excited to design a dress for the Emmy Awards, but I became extremely excited once I was able to fly to L.A to see Ms. Tabitha Brown wearing my design and then seeing the world so happy for me. That is when I realized that this is what I truly love to do.

Can you tell us about your new collection for kids that you’ll be presenting at NYFW? What’s the theme?

I have become a very preppy girl! I love the skirts and the longs socks. So I decided to make my own preppy “ school girl “ collection. But I didn’t want my school to be just any regular school, I wanted to be a school of fashion and for the uniforms to be fashionable; kind of like Cruella. I love that movie, “Cruella” and I actually was Cruella one year for Halloween. If I had my own fashion school, I would love everyone to so fashionable, even my Emo designs.

Do you have a favorite piece or outfit from your new collection? If so, can you describe it to us?

My favorite garment from my new collection is the plaid gown. I designed that garment to have all the different plaids that I used within my collection to be put all on one garment. That will be my statement piece! I learned that from Project Runway. They are always looking for that statement piece at the end of the collection that will “Wow” the audience.

How do you balance school and designing your clothing line? Do you have any tips for other kids who want to pursue their passions?

I balance school and designing clothing very well. I love school! And I especially love Math. When I’m designing clothes, I’m actually using skills that I’m learning in class. I’m measuring, and I’m cutting out patterns; which has allowed me to score the 2nd highest in my math testing in my classroom. My communication skills has also developed,

because I’m communicating with clients, doing interviews and more. My favorite tip for other kids who want to pursue their passion is, “You are never too young to start your dream!”

Are there any famous designers or fashion icons who inspire your work?

I love Cristian Siriano! I watch him all the time on Project Runway and I love his dramatic style. I’m dramatic!!! Well I can be ! Christian Siriano is such an amazing designer.

I have so many fashion icons who inspire me to design. I absolutely love Taylor Swift! But I would love to design for Halle Bailey, Ariana Grande, Blue Ivy, and Angela Basset. I love Angela Basset style, definitely matches my brand.

What’s the most exciting part about showcasing your collection at New York Fashion Week? Any special surprises or moments you’re looking forward to?

The most exciting part about showcasing my collection at New York Fashion Week is that “ I am Hosting It!!” I’m so excited to host my first NYFW production under my brand name. I’m looking forward to meeting my models, and styling them. I can’t wait to see my guest and just surprise them with some amazing looks that I have designed.

Can you share any future plans or dreams you have for your Brooke Lauren children’s brand?

My future plans is to expand on my brand by getting a manufacturer. I would love for my clothes to be in every department store. I also would like to have my own tv show like, “That’s So Raven” where I can be acting and sewing at the same time. I actually have fun changing my voice and being in character.
