Mentre l’artista Tal Avitzur visitava una discarica di recupero alla ricerca di materiale per sistemare una casa da ristrutturare acquistata 20 anni fa, rimase stupefatto dai tesori che vi trovò. Così iniziò a collezionare oggetti che altre persone pensavano fossero spazzatura, e da quella collezione nacquero queste sculture. Tal Avitzur incontrò la sua passione per la creazione mentre era al college e lavorava per lo scultore George Rickey e la ceramista Beatrice Wood. Dal suo laboratorio con migliaia di pezzi ammassata in tanti anni di collezionismo, Tal crea sculture a tema fantasy. È fortemente influenzato dalla fantascienza, dalla mitologia e dai fumetti della sua gioventù. Ogni scultura inizia trovando la personalità in un oggetto, quindi prova ad assemblare diverse combinazioni di pezzi insieme tagliando, forando e macinando fino a raggiungere un aspetto naturale.
While artist Tal Avitzur was visiting salvage yards in search of material to refurbish a fixer-upper home he purchased 20 years ago, he was amazed at the treasures he found there. So he began collecting objects that other people thought of as trash, and from that collection these sculptures were born. Tal Avitzur found his passion for creating while in college and working for sculptor George Rickey and ceramicist Beatrice Wood. From his workshop full of thousands of parts amassed over many years of collecting, Tal creates fantasy-themed sculptures. He is heavily influenced by the science fiction, mythology and comic books from his youth. Each sculpture begins by finding the personality in an object, then test fitting different combinations of pieces together, and cutting, drilling and grinding until reaching a natural-looking fit.
