Una parola omografa, all’apparenza semplice ma che racchiude in sé molteplici significati, è quella che meglio si presta a intitolare la doppia personale di Quirino Cipolla e Alessandro Grimoldieu. Legàmi o Légamipresentaun’antologiadiopere che raccontano di compulsività e istinto, di intrecci e relazioni, di passatoedevoluzione.

Analogamente al titolo della mostra, anche il nesso tra le opere di Grimoldieu e quelle di Cipolla sembrerebbe essere di primo impatto piuttosto esplicito. Da un punto di vista stilistico, in effetti, le caratteristiche comuni ai due artisti sono oltremodo evidenti. ossessiva all’introspezione si distinguono nei lavori di entrambi. Tuttavia,un'indaginepiùapprofondita rivela una natura quasi superficiale di tali similitudini, in particolare se paragonata con la ricerca contenutistica dei due. È proprio quest’ultima che permette un confronto più dettagliato tra l’arte di Grimoldieu e quella di Cipolla. Le analogie alla base della mostra si concretizzanonelsignificato,omeglio, nei vari significati intrinsechi della parola legami,checiascunodegliartisti interpretainmododeltuttopersonale e intimo. Mentre Cipolla si concentra sul legame inteso come passione e compulsività, facendo leva sull’istinto, Grimoldieu lo interpreta come intreccio, raccontando di un passato –recente o lontano– e della sua evoluzionenelpresente.tem tem

L’intento introspettivo è allo stesso tempocausaeconseguenzadellescelte tematiche dei due artisti. Benché il concetto di legame presupponga l’esistenza di due parti, Grimoldieu e Cipolla decidono consapevolmente di concentrarsi sul proprio io–da cui i soggetti quasi sempre unici delle loro opere. Durante la specialistica apre un’aziendadidesigndigioielliedèin quest’occasione che comincia a sperimentare la tecnica della cera persa. Questa pratica molto antica nell’arte della gioielleria consiste nel plasmaredellemicrosculture,poifuse in varie leghe metallurgiche al fine di tramutarle in gioielli indossabili. commerciabilità.Questocambiamento e la nuova attenzione verso il contenuto dell’opera, invece che verso l’estetica della stessa, lo portano a indagare il tema delle maschere, poi esplicitato in “Persona Personae” (2023), la sua prima mostra personale tenutasipressoFabbricaEosaMilano.

Sitrattadiunacollezionedimaschere cheriprendetemifilosofici,strizzando l’occhio ai principi del Transumanesimo e ai romanzi pirandelliani.Lemascheresonocreate inizialmenteincerastampataconuna penna in 3D, cui poi si combina la tecnica tradizionale della fusione a cera persa. In seguito al successo di “Persona Personae”, Grimoldieu partecipa e vince la seconda edizione della Biennale di Desio 2023 con l’opera “Apollo” (2023). L’intento di Grimoldieu è quello di esprimere la propria visione di un presente fugace, pro

sfuggente, in cui passato e futuro si fondonoinunlegameindissolubile.Ed è proprio su questi principi che si basano anche le opere presentate nell’ambitodiLEGAMI,incuil’artista trasferisce il concetto di maschera su carta. L’indagine di Grimoldieu parte dall’individuo:illegame“dell’io”,cioè se stesso, e “dell’altro” con il passato anticipa una forte volontà evolutiva, riscontrabileneicontornisfumatienel concettodimascherastessa.Laricerca artistica di Grimoldieu culmina con “Achille e Patroclo” (2023), opera che raffigura due tra i più importanti personaggiomerici.Illegametraidue guerrieri achei costituisce il punto d’arrivoperl’artistapoiché,perquanto faticoso,nascostoetalvoltaaddirittura negato, è talmente forte che coesiste nelpassato,nelpresenteenelfuturo.

Quirino Cipolla è un vero e proprio “Renaissanceman”,untermineinglese che significa letteralmente “uomo del Rinascimento”echeindicaunafigura poliedrica, dalle mille passioni e conoscenze. Nonostante una laurea in Giurisprudenza, Cipolla dedica la maggiorpartedellasuavitaallosport. Intraprende la carriera del tennista–dapprima come giocatore professionistaeinseguitocomecoach del figlio Flavio–e del giocatore di calcioa5,raggiungendolaSerieA.Al di là dei suoi grandi successi sportivi, Cipolla mantiene sempre vivo un interesse per tutto ciò che è cultura: musica, teatro, cinema e, soprattutto, arte. Cipolla decide di dedicarsi a tempo pieno alla sua grande passione. Benché Cipolla sia conosciuto principalmente come scultore, il suo legame profondo con l’arte emerge in nel

maniera più evidente dai suoi lavori bidimensionali. Le opere presentate nelcontestodiLEGAMIesplicitanola veraeproprianecessitàchel’artistaha di creare. Questo bisogno impellente prevale su tutto nella sua vita: come egli stesso racconta, qualsiasi momento è buono per “fare arte”, anche solo un semplice schizzo su carta. Dopo una carriera sportiva così brillante,lapresadiconsapevolezzadi sécomeartistaèilpuntodisvoltaper Cipolla. I soggetti spesso unici delle sue opere sembrano quasi una personificazione del suo legame con l’arte. Che sia un volto maschile, femminile, giovane o anziano poco importa:ciòchecontaèl’hicetnunc,il bisogno impellente di creare qui e ora–che altro non è quello che comunementechiamiamoarte.

LEGAMI is an Italian homographic word that has multiple meanings dependingonwheretheaccentfalls.It couldmeanlinks,connections,bonds, relationships, as well as “tie me up”, andit’stheonethatbestlendsitselfto the title of the duo exhibition by Quirino Cipolla and Alessandro Grimoldieu. In the context of LEGAMI, we proudly present an anthology of works that tell of compulsiveness and instinct, of twine and relationships, of past and evolution.

Similarlytothetitleoftheexhibition, the connection between the works of GrimoldieuandthoseofCipollawould alsoappeartoberatherexplicitatfirst glance. From a stylistic point of view, in fact, the traits common to the two artists are extremely evident. The use ofsimplematerialsandmediumssuch asgraphiteonpaper,theemphasison the lines of the human face, and an almo

almost obsessive search for introspectionstandoutintheworksof both. However, a deeper investigation revealsanalmostsuperficialnatureof these similarities, particularly when comparedwiththecontentresearchof the two. It is precisely the latter that allows a more detailed comparison betweentheartofGrimoldieuandthat of Cipolla. The analogies underlying the exhibition materialize in the meaning, or rather, in the various intrinsicmeaningsoftheItalianword LEGAMI, which each of the artists interpretsinacompletelypersonaland intimateway.WhileCipollafocuseson theconceptofLEGAMIinterpretedas passion and compulsiveness, leveraging instinct, Grimoldieu reads intoitasanintertwining,recountinga past – recent or distant – and its evolutioninthepresent.

thematic choices of the two artists. Although the concept of LEGAMI presupposestheexistenceoftwoparts, Grimoldieu and Cipolla consciously decide to focus on their own ego –hence the almost always unique subjectsoftheirworks.Thetwoartists demonstrate how many, if not all relationships are conditioned by knowledge of oneself as individuals. WantingtoquoteMarcelProust:"Man is the being who cannot escape from himself, who does not know others exceptinhimself,andwho,ifhesays otherwise, lies." The anthology of works by Cipolla and Grimoldieu presented there resonates as a sort of memento: the first step towards a relationship with "the other" is the investigation of oneself and their bonds,whatevertheymaybe.

AlessandroGrimoldieulivesandworks inMilan,Italy.Hehasapproachedart sincehewasachild,whenhesuffered from insomnia and the only way to keep busy was to give vent to his creativity. His education is eclectic to say the least: after graduating in Communication, Media and AdvertisingatIULM,hespecializedin FashionDesignatAccademiadiBrera. DuringhisMaster’sstudiesheopened a jewelry design company and it was on this occasion that he began to experiment with the lost-wax technique. This very ancient practice intheartofjewelryconsistsinshaping micro sculptures, then melted in variousmetallurgicalalloysinorderto transform them into wearable jewels. From his commitment as a goldsmith hethenshiftsthefocustoartasanend in itself, no longer focusing on the creation of "wearable" sculptures, as theyaretoolinkedtofashionandthe ideaof"marketability".

"marketability". This change and the new attention towards the content of thework,ratherthantoitsaesthetics, leads him to investigate the theme of masks, then explained in "Persona Personae" (2023), his first solo exhibition held at Fabbrica Eos in Milan. “Persona Personae” is a collection of masks that takes up philosophical themes, such as the principles of Transhumanism and the Italian writer Pirandello's novels. The masks are initially created in wax printed with a 3D pen, which is then combined with the traditional technique of lost-wax casting. Following the success of "Persona Personae", Grimoldieu participates in the second edition of the Desio Biennale2023,whichhewinswiththe work"Apollo"(2023).

Grimoldieu's intent is to express his visionofafleeting,elusivepresent,in which past and future merge in an indissoluble bond. The works presented

presented in the context of LEGAMI, in which the artist transfers the concept of the mask onto paper, are based on the same principles. Grimoldieu's investigation starts from the individual - representing the relationship of both "the ego", therefore of himself, and "the other" with their own past. This bond is enhancedbyastrongevolutionarywill, found in the blurred contours and in the concept of mask itself.

Grimoldieu's artistic research culminates with "Achilles and Patroclus" (2023), a work that depicts two of the most important Homeric characters. The relationship between the two Achaean warriors constitutes the point of arrival for the artist because, however tiring, hidden and sometimesevendenied,itissostrong thatitcoexistsinthepast,presentand future.

QuirinoCipollaisatrue"Renaissance man", a term that indicates a multifaceted figure, with a thousand passions and knowledge. Despite a degreeinLaw,Cipolladedicatesmost of his life to sport. He embarks on a career as a tennis player – first as a professional player and later as coach of his son Flavio – and as a 5-a-side football player, reaching Serie A. Beyond his great sporting successes, Cipolla always maintains a keen interest in everything that is culture: music, theater, cinema and, above all, art.Thelatter,infact,isaconstantin the life of the artist, who since childhood has occupied his free time by experimenting with drawings and sketches. Having abandoned his sporting career, Cipolla decides to dedicatehimselffulltimetohisgreat passion. He defines himself as "a multi-material artist", in reference to his continuous experimentation with materials: from wood to iron, from pain

paintings to polystyrene. Some of his latest successful exhibitions are the presentation of the work “The Biker's Soul” (2023) at the Tor Vergata UniversityofRomeand“Icore”(2023), a solo exhibition in a pavilion of the VIIeditionoftheMilanoSculturafair at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan. The artist is also involved in numerous humanitarian projects: among the most recent, the creation of various worksintheRomanprisonofRebibbia withtheparticipationoftheinmates.

Although Cipolla is known primarily as a sculptor, his deep connection to art emerges most clearly from his two-dimensional works. The works presented in the context of LEGAMI explain the compelling need that the artisthastocreate.Thisvitalnecessity prevails over everything in his life: as hehimselfsays,anymomentisagood timeto"makeart",evenjustasimple sketchonpaper.Aftersuchabrilliant sportingcareer,gainingself-awareness

as an artist is the turning point for Cipolla. The often unique subjects of his works almost seem to embody his bond with art. It doesn't matter whether it's a male, female, young or oldface:whatmattersisthe hic et nunc, thecompellingneedtocreatehereand now – which is nothing but what we commonlycallart.
