Dear Girl Scout Families,
As our communities begin the challenging road to recovery from January’s devastating wildfires, I have been truly inspired by the unwavering spirit of our Girl Scout community. In times of uncertainty, we do what we do best—create safe, supportive spaces where girls can nurture friendships, express themselves, and find comfort in each other.
With summer camp just around the corner, this opportunity has never been more important. Camp is more than just an adventure - it’s a place for healing, resilience, and joy. It’s where girls can step away from their worries, rediscover their strength, and be surrounded by a sisterhood that lifts them up.
With five conveniently located day camps across Greater LA and one beloved overnight mountain camp nestled in the Los Padres National Forest in Kern County's Frazier Park, there's truly a GSGLA summer camp experience for every girl. In Greater LA, Girl Scouts soar as they zipline over the pines at Lakota Overnight Camp, make waves kayaking at Marine Landing, or reach new heights rock-wall climbing at El Ranchito. They can play teambuilding games in the foothills at Mariposa*, hike the hillsides at La Casita, or let their imaginations run wild at the Inglewood Innovation Center. Whichever adventure they choose, they’ll return home with a lifetime of memories—and more courage, confidence, and character than ever.
Girls are facing the challenges of an increasingly complex and divisive world and are reeling from a natural disaster. At camp, they unplug, decompress, and embrace the unique type of self-care that only nature and face-time with friends provide. They build core memories, own their strengths, discover more about themselves, and tap into newfound levels of self-esteem in a safe, all-girl environment.
GSGLA is proud to offer camp at a tremendous cost value to parents and caregivers of girls across Greater LA. On average, GSGLA camps are about half the price of local for-profit camps. And because we believe every girl should experience the magic of Girl Scout camp—regardless of financial circumstance—financial aid “camperships” are available. See page 33 for details.
We can’t wait to see you this summer!
Yours in Girl Scouting,
Theresa Edy Kiene Chief Executive Officer
*Mariposa has suffered some damage resulting from the Eaton Fire. It is our intention to have it ready for summer camp, but there are things we still don’t know that will determine our opening date. Most of this information will be dependent on local authorities; our top priority is the safety of our Girl Scouts. If you’d like to attend camp sessions at Mariposa, sign up on p. 16 and we’ll contact you as soon as we have an opening date. If we can’t open in time, we’ll do our best to place your Girl Scout in another camp.

The Gift of Girl Scout Camp
Why Caregivers Love It...
We surveyed caregivers of our campers, and the large majority say they are likely to recommend GSGLA camps to a friend or colleague and believe their camper expressed confidence in themselves and their actions after attending camp.
Girl Scout values were the top reason caregivers chose GSGLA camp.
“I love that my kid comes home dirty, exhausted, and excited every day. She’s getting a real chance to be a kid, instead of staying inside and watching TV all summer.”
“The Girl Scout values strongly carry into the summer camp program. The fee is the perfect price point. The opportunities for experiences in nature and away from technology are very valuable. The ability for the older girls to experience leadership with the younger girls is what I appreciate most. Allowing middleschool-aged girls to act in leadership-type roles is something exclusive to the Girl Scout experience and we value it. Thank you.”
“I’m very proud of my daughter for trying new activities and allowing herself to just get muddy and have fun.”
“I could tell this was a Girl Scout-led program by real Girl Scouts. You can tell the difference between hired staff outside the Girl Scout family and actual Girl Scout alumni and CITs. Kudos to camp for cultivating such an amazing program! My daughters had so much fun here and my Girl Scout Daisy earned an entire journey! Thank you! My girls still haven’t stopped raving about how much fun they had.”
“My daughter and her friend sang songs and told stories every day on the ride home from camp. They were happy every day to go to camp wondering what the day would hold for them. The high ropes is a game changer for adding excitement. All volunteers and staff were professional and had smiles each time I saw them.”
“It is simply the best camp. Always enjoyable for my kids and great interactions as a parent.”
All About Overnight Camp
Overnight camp is the quintessential experience that generations of Girl Scouts have cherished and enjoyed. In our nurturing yet empowering community, campers try new things, take healthy risks, and meet and learn from campers across Los Angeles. The extended time at overnight camp also allows for enhanced skill development in many activities. Campers return home with increased confidence and a sense of independence that helps them be more successful in school and in life.

Important Overnight Camp Information
Program Notes
Every camper who attends overnight camp (Session 1 through 6 and Slice of Adventure) will receive a camp patch and one item of camp swag!
Campers participating in our equestrian programs are scheduled for three riding lessons (one lesson each full day of camp, Tuesday through Thursday) during their camp experience (weather permitting).
Transportation
Bus transportation* (round-trip) is included in the cost of each session. This allows campers an opportunity to meet other campers before they arrive at camp. Overnight camp buses are chaperoned by camp staff.
Transportation method is indicated on your CampDoc forms and once selected, cannot be changed. Chartered buses will run round-trip from the following GSGLA service centers: Arcadia, Canoga Park, Inglewood, and Long Beach. NOTE: Slice of Adventure and Troop Adventure Camp do not include transportation.
The Camp Lakota Instagram stories will be our main source of communication on bus days and will be updated with real-time arrival and departure information. Additional information will be sent a week before the start of a session. Instagram – @camp.lakota
*You can also choose to drive your child to and from camp but please note that we cannot accommodate interchanging methods of transportation. If campers ride the bus to camp, they must ride the bus home from camp. If you drop your camper off at camp, you must pick your camper up at camp. We are unable to make any exceptions.
Meals
Campers are provided with three nutritious meals and snacks daily. Special diets can be accommodated, including vegetarian, gluten-free, nut-free, kosher, and dairy-free options at each meal (must be noted in CampDoc Form). Campers with food allergies must understand their allergies and know what foods to eat/not eat while at camp. We may not be able to accommodate severe allergies. If you would like to discuss your camper’s accommodations, please contact the camp director at lakotacamp@girlscoutsla.org.
Sleeping Arrangements and Showers Camp is organized into villages that either feature cabins— some with and some without electricity—or camping tents. The program you have selected will determine your housing. Older Girl Experience (CITs and Star Trekkers) will be housed in tents and campers in Traditional Camp and Equestrian Camp will be in cabins. Equestrian campers will be living in cabins without electricity. Please note that villages are first organized by program and then grade level. This means that a camper in Traditional Camp will be unable to share a cabin with an
Equestrian Camp camper. Located in each village are restroom facilities, which are equipped with individual stall (hot) showers, flush toilets, and sinks. Each shower and toilet stall are completely enclosed for privacy.
As per Girl Scout policy, our staff do not sleep inside tents or cabins with the campers but are housed in their own tent/cabin within the village to provide supervision and assist campers as needed.
Health Forms
Health history forms are completed through CampDoc.com, a secure, encrypted, and password-protected electronic healthrecord system for camps. Within one week of your registration, you will receive a link to set up your account and complete your camper’s health history. Each camper is required to have a physical examination (physician-signed) within 12 months of their scheduled camp session. Health forms must be completed one week before the start of your camper’s session. All health forms are submitted/uploaded via CampDoc.com. If you have any questions, please contact the camp director at lakotacamp@girlscoutsla.org
CampDoc is available in Spanish. If you need assistance accessing the Spanish-language version of CampDoc, please contact us at 626-286-8844 or via email at camphealthforms@girlscoutsla.org.
Medications at Camp
The following applies to all medications including vitamins, inhalers, epi-pens, prescriptions, and over-the-counter medications sent to camp. All medications must be listed in CampDoc under medications. Administration of and dosing instructions must match prescription labels. If they do not, a physician’s note must be provided. Medications must be in the original container with the camper’s name written on it. (California law states that medications not in the original container cannot be dispensed by the health staff.)
For safety reasons, all medications for campers and camp staff are stored and locked in the Infirmary. The Health Specialist will dispense medications as indicated by the physician’s instructions for prescriptions and/or by label instructions for over-the-counter medications. Over-the-counter medications are stocked in our Infirmary, such as Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, Amoxicillin, Calcium carbonate, Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, etc. —so no need to send your camper these medications if you have signed the medical release. For a full list of over-the-counter medication at camp, please refer to CampDoc or reach out to the Camp Director. Our staff always carry first aid kits, for first treatment response, if needed. If your camper takes any medications daily, then you MUST send them with camper and be in the original packaging (e.g., camper takes Zyrtec every morning).
**IMPORTANT** Campers may keep rescue inhalers and epipens with them. If campers require an epi-pen, we suggest, if
possible, that you send two: one to keep with your camper and the spare one in the Infirmary.
Special Needs and Accommodations
Our goal is to provide a positive experience for all Girl Scouts— help us ensure your camper’s success at camp. If your Girl Scout has medical or other special needs and can function well with a 1:6 adult–to-camper ratio, we encourage you to work with us to identify our most appropriate camp program. You can discuss with the camp director the nature of your camper’s needs to determine if our camp can provide the proper support and supervision. We are unable to provide 1:1 support for campers. Caregivers of campers with special needs, disabilities, or mobility issues should contact the camp director at lakotacamp@girlscoutsla.org.
Staff
We hand-pick our caring, skilled staff from around the world based on their ability to work with youth, teach and share skills, be part of a team, and be committed to the values of Girl Scouting. Engaging with staff who live around the world enriches the summer camp experience, offering campers unique insights, diverse skills, and a broader understanding of the world around them. Camp Lakota hires staff of all genders.
All About Day Camp
Weather
Due to rapidly changing weather conditions, activities at camp may have to be altered or canceled. Our primary concern is camper safety, and every effort will be made to reschedule activities.

Archery: Campers must be entering 2nd grade to participate in archery.

Important Day Camp Information
Day Camp General Information
GSGLA day camps have proven themselves to be places for gaining leadership skills, creating safe spaces for campers to challenge themselves, and forging memories that last a lifetime. Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles works to ensure they are a great value, and we offer financial aid, in the form of “camperships,” so our camps are accessible to all.
When is it?
All GSGLA day camps run 9 a.m.–4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Campers can attend a single session or join us for all nine weeks. Day camp starts mid-June and runs to mid-August—check the camp near you for exact dates.
Before Care runs 7 a.m.–8:30 a.m. and After Care runs 4 p.m.–6 p.m. There is no daily rate, and you must register for each week individually. Please Note: A $10 late fee will be charged every 15 minutes after 6 p.m. See your individual camp’s page for links to register!
What’s included?
All campers attending GSGLA day camp will receive daily snacks, and a camp patch.
Campers will bring their own lunch to camp.
Health and Safety
All of our staff are CPR and First Aid certified and Marine Landing staff are all Red Cross Lifeguard certified and participate in regular in-service training.
GSGLA also collects vital and comprehensive health records for our campers to ensure our staff can provide the best care possible when needed. We partner with CampDoc.com to collect health information. Here, parents and caregivers can provide information on medications campers need to take at camp, a list of trusted contacts who are authorized to pick up their camper, and more.
All our GSGLA camps have a Health and Inclusion Supervisor on-staff to provide campers additional assistance and ensure an equitable experience for all campers. If you think your camper may need special accommodation at camp, please contact your Camp Director or update your camper profile on CampDoc appropriately. At this time, we cannot provide 1:1 support to campers.
Weather
Day camps remain open rain or shine, but activities at camp may have to be altered or canceled because of rainfall. Our primary concern is camper safety, and every effort will be made to reschedule activities later in the week. We do our best to combat the intense summer heat with frequent water breaks and sheltering in the shade. We encourage all campers to do their part and bring sun protection to wear throughout the camp day.
What should my camper expect?
Our day camps provide a diverse range of program experiences, but Girl Scout values are at the heart of what we do. Check out examples of what your camper can expect at day camp:
• Flag ceremony
• Safety orientations
• Camp-specific activity (rock wall, archery, gaga, kayaking, and more!)
• Camp songs and skits
• Group games
• Snack
• STEAM, crafts, leadership activities, and more!

Payment Plan Options
Did you know that you have the option to pay for camp as you go?! We understand that committing to camp can sometimes feel like a financial hurdle, but we're here to make it more accessible and manageable for you. Here's how it works:
1. Easy Process: At checkout, just pay the minimum due (deposit)! Once paid, your MyGS account will display your remaining balance and pay as much or as little, as you like - you pay up to 10 days before the camp session! The minimum payment (deposit) for day camp is $100 and the minimum payment (deposit) for overnight camp is $200.
2. Pay As You Go: You can choose to spread out your camp fees over multiple payments, as many or as few as you need, making it more affordable and convenient for your budget.
3. Deadline Reminder: Remember, you have the flexibility to make payments up to 2 weeks before the start of your camper’s session.
Camp/Program Credit Cards
• Choose a camp for your child from the camp guide.
• Pay the deposit for your selected camp using your personal credit/ debit card in order to reserve your camper’s spot in camp.
• Complete the paper Camp Registration Form and provide your program credit number.
Paper Forms (available at www.girlscoutsla.org/summercamp)
• Day Camp Paper Form
• Camp Lakota Overnight Camp Paper Form
• Specialty Camp Paper Form
• If your program credits earned are enough to cover the full camp registration, you may request a refund for the deposit amount submitted to hold the spot. Please write a note on your paper form requesting this.
• Email your paper form to registration@girlscoutsla.org.
Camp Balances
Camp fee balances are due two weeks prior to the start of every camp session. Late payments or payments not received will result in a loss of placement in the camp and loss of the deposit. It is the responsibility of the camper’s caregiver to pay camp fee balance(s) by this deadline. To see if you have any balance owed, log into your MyGS account and click on “My Events” on the left panel to see the events for which you are registered. Click into each event and you will see any events or camps that have balance owed.
If your camper is dropped from the camp due to balance not being paid by the deadline and if you still wish for the camper to attend the camp, you will need to pay a new deposit fee along with the remainder of the camp balance. Payment must be made in full, and space must be available at the camp—no exceptions.
Refund Policy
• Deposits paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.
• Please check school calendars prior to registering your camper to avoid loss of deposit.
• Cancellations two weeks prior to the start of camp: full refund minus deposit
• Cancellations less than two weeks prior to the start of camp: no refund.
• No refunds and no prorated refunds will be made for campers who arrive late, leave early, attend only part of the camp, or choose not to attend the camp.
• If a camper can no longer attend due to illness or injury, a physician’s letter must accompany the refund request prior to start of camp. Please email to registration@girlscoutsla.org.
• If a camper is required to attend summer school, please contact registration@girlscoutsla.org.
General Camp FAQs
Do I have to be a Girl Scout to attend camp?
If a camper is not currently a Girl Scout, a one-time $25 annual membership fee will be applied in addition to your total camp fees. As members, Girl Scouts can participate in an array of council-sponsored programs located across Greater Los Angeles during the current program year, as well as joining a troop.
Is financial aid available?
Yes, it is available for campers whose family’s financial circumstances might otherwise prevent them from attending camp. Interested applicants must submit the Campership Application via online. For more details, see p. 33.
Will my camper need a physical examination to attend camp?
For overnight camp, yes. Each camper is required to have a physical examination within 12 months of the starting day of their scheduled camp session. A Health History Form is required for all campers and must be completed no more than two months prior to the camper’s session. Please reach out to camphealthforms@girlscoutsla.org for information on no-cost physicals.
What if my child needs medical or special accommodations while at camp?
Overnight camp has a health supervisor on site, and all camps always have first aid-certified adults on site who administer routine health care and any medications. An emergency contact plan is in place should any medical emergencies occur. Parents are notified as soon as possible in the event of any special medical emergency. If your camper has any special needs (physical, behavioral, etc.), every effort will be made to accommodate her through each camp’s designated Health and Inclusion Director. Please include any past or potential concerns on the Health History Form. The camp director will contact you prior to your daughter’s session. Please note, our staff cannot accommodate 1:1 support for campers.
Can special foods be provided?
Most special dietary needs can be met if camp directors are notified in advance. At resident camp, meal options due to medical, religious, or other reasons are available. Please indicate these requirements on your camper’s Health History Form. Vegetarian alternatives are offered at every meal.
Can my camper be in the same unit as their friend?
Girl Scout camp is a wonderful way to meet new people. A camper may request one buddy after registering for camp through CampDoc. Both campers must register for the same program and week at camp. Make sure you and your child’s buddy and her parents are planning this together. Bunk buddy placement is not guaranteed.
Who are the camp staff?
Camp staff (paid and volunteer) are enthusiastic, fun, caring, energetic, well-trained, and experienced individuals who are hired based on their ability to work with children in a learning and nurturing environment. All staff are required to complete a background check, health screening, and 40 hours of training on topics including youth supervision, child development, program planning, conflict resolution, first aid, CPR, and additional certification for specialized program delivery. The resident camp ratio of staff to campers in fourth grade and above is 1:8; and, for second and third grade, it’s 1:6 with a ratio of 1:6 for high-adventure programs. The day camp ratio is 1:10 and for aquatic activities, it is 1:5.
What camp health and safety standards are maintained?
All GSGLA camps meet the health and safety standards and guidelines established by Girl Scouts of the USA and the State of California.

Campership (Financial Aid) FAQs
Is a Campership different than financial aid?
No. Camperships and financial aid are used interchangeably. Both terms are acceptable.
Can I apply for a Campership through my GSGLA account?
No. Campership applications are only processed manually through our e-form. https://www.gsglavolunteerapps.org/campership2025
If you need assistance completing the e-form application, please contact customer care by phone at 213-213-0123 or via email at customercare@girlscoutsla.org.
Can I hold a camp spot for my Girl Scout while I apply for Campership?
No, we are unable to hold camp spots. Each year we hold spots at each camp to account for camperships. While it may seem tempting, please do not place a deposit for your camper. Deposits are non-transferable and non-refundable. Your application must be approved before your camper will be given a camp spot. Once your application is approved, our registration team will process the camper’s registration on the back end. Camp spots designated for Camperships are processed manually and deposits are non-refundable.
My Girl Scout received confirmation from GSGLA that she has been accepted into the Counselor-InTraining (CIT/LIT) program, but I also need to apply for a Campership. Do I submit the same Campership forms?
Yes! The application to be a CIT is a separate process from applying for a Campership. Please follow the CIT application process. Once you receive confirmation that your Girl Scout has been accepted into the CIT program, please submit the completed Campership 2025 Application.
When will my application be reviewed and processed?
Processing begins the same day the application is received. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address listed on the application notifying you that the application has been received. Please indicate your second choice of camp in your campership application as we cannot guarantee you will receive your first choice depending on camp capacity. As a reminder, if you apply for 2-day camp sessions, you will need to submit two applications.
When will I be notified of my campership application status and placement of my Girl Scout in camp?
Please allow up to three weeks upon receipt of the completed forms. If the forms are incomplete, the application cannot be processed and will be returned. Once your forms are completed and received, we will begin processing
How do I receive the status of my application?
All information regarding your application will be sent to the email listed on the application. All communication from Girl Scouts regarding your application and status will be sent from campership@girlscoutsla.org.
How many camps can my Girl Scout attend with a Campership?
Each individual Girl Scout may apply for one of the following options: one overnight camp, one specialty camp, or two day-camp sessions. Please note that if applying for two day-camp sessions, you will need to submit two applications.
Once my Girl Scout is registered for camp, can they be transferred to another camp, if needed?
Unfortunately, while we do our best to accommodate changes in schedules, we are unable to transfer across camps once your Girl Scout is registered. Please make sure you finalize your summer plans before registering for camp, paying extra attention to when school lets out for summer break.
How do I pay my camper’s remaining balance if their registration fee is not 100% covered with a campership?
A link to pay will be sent via email and all camp registration fees must be paid two weeks prior to the start of the camp session. If payment is not received, your camper will be dropped from the session.
