Carol Stillwell

Carol Stillwell is the owner, President and CEO of StillwellHansen, Inc. Together with her late husband, Gordon, who passed away in November 2008, they have achieved numerous business awards and recognition for their customer service and expertise. Since taking the helm, the company has seen unprecedented growth in terms of sales volume and number of employees. She has taken advantage of this growth by providing employment opportunities for other women who may not have been able to follow the traditional path of college and career.

Early in her career she recognized that her mechanical and mathematical prowess could be best utilized in a field where women were not generally welcomed, yet did not let this discourage her efforts. As a child, Carol learned the importance of giving back to the community and Carol and Gordon have devoted their lives to philanthropy and improving the lives of others. Carol joined the Board of Trustees for Riverview Medical Center Foundation in 2000 and has served as Chairperson of Ride for Riverview since 1998, raising over $700,000 for the Jane H. and John Marshall Booker Cancer Center. In 2004, Carol served as Chair of the Meridian Gala, “Rhapsody in White.” She is the founding Board Member for the Rep Rainbow Foundation, a scholarship fund for young men and women. In 2007, Carol was awarded the Lou Gehrig Humanitarian Award for her contribution to ALS research. Carol was awarded the 2009 Distinguished Citizen Service Award from the YMCA. In 2010, she chaired their Strong Kids Campaign, received the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and received the William C. Black Award of Hope for her contributions and support of Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Carol has also served on the Monmouth University Scholarship Ball Committee both in 2007 and in 2008. Carol is the First Woman President of Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) and in addition, Stillwell-Hansen is a member of the Woman Owned Business Enterprise.

Congratulations to my Sister Carol on this well deserved honor. What a wonderful gift to be given a sister as caring and thoughtful as you. Someone who puts others before herself, you have the kind of love that reaches out, that understands, that cares for everyone — someone whose hard work and devotion benefits so many wor thwhile causes. I just wanted to let you know how proud I am to call you my sister. I Love You, Mary Ann
