Teen Girl Scout’s Love of Camping is Everlasting cated time to biking. Since she never got a chance to attend day camp as a Girl Scout, Brianna is taking time this summer to be a program assistant at Camp Greene Wood.
Building a sit-upon, pitching tents, making a fire, cooking over a fire, canoeing, kayaking, scuba diving, zip-lining, and rock climbing. “Everything I do in Girl Scouts has always been fun and unique,” said Brianna McCormick, 14.
“I really wish I had the opportunity to go to day camp, but now I can help year after year as a program assistant to make other girls’ summers as memorable as previous staff members have made mine,” Brianna said.
Brianna started camping with her family when she was only four or five, but when she approached her first grade year, Brianna couldn’t wait to go to Girl Scout camp with all of her friends. She was excited for the troop to have their first real trip away from home. “After one weekend I wanted to live at camp forever,” she said. Always an early riser, Brianna said her favorite aspects of camp were waking up early to watch the sun rise and listening to the morning birds.
After envying the cross-country trips of older Girl Scouts, Brianna has finally had the chance to experience some of her own. Last year she went to Texas, and this year she chose to attend the 100th Anniversary Centennial Camporee in Savannah, GA, with more than 1,000 Girl Scouts from across the nation.
