Gilbert AquaƟc Centers Gilbert Pool Rules & Regulations *Children 6 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult or responsible person (12+) *Swim suits only: No cut-off shorts, co on shorts, or T-shirts are permi ed. *All persons entering the aqua c facility must pay the entry fee-including infants (1+ yrs) and observers during public swimming sessions. *No flota on devices, except as follows: “Water wings” are permi ed in the pool zero depth areas only but NOT in the main pool areas. *Life jackets and water “noodles” are permi ed at all facili es. *Children who are not toliet trained must wear a disposable swim diaper at all mes. *We ask that all guests use the restroom and shower before entering and enjoying the pool. *Guests who are sick or ill (diarrhea, incon nent, vomi ng) are asked to visit a er they have recovered from their illness. *Aqua c facili es are smoke-free, including E-cigare es. *Fecal incidents require the pool to be cleared for a minimum of 30 minutes in order to remove and treat the incident appropriately. *No alcohol or glass containers are allowed. *There are addi onal rules and regula ons posted at each aqua c center. Please review these regula ons when you visit any of our Town pools. *Pool managers and lifeguards have complete authority in the pool. Lifeguards are on duty to enforce pool rules and regula ons, provide a safe environment and respond to aqua c emergencies. It is the parent/guardian’s sole responsibilty to watch their childrent at all mes.

Pool and Ramada Rentals Private pool rentals and ramada rentals (during Mesquite Aqua c Center public swimming sessions) will be accepted for Mesquite Aqua c Center. Reserva ons will be accepted beginning May 1, 2019. Ramada rental fee is $30/hr and is a great way to have a private area at the pool for a birthday party during public swimming hours. Private pool rentals can be scheduled on Fridays or Saturdays a er public swimming hours end, beginning 5/25/2019. Mesquite pool closes for the season on Saturday, July 27th. Evening pool rentals will be available on the dates/ mes below: August 5-10 - Monday-Friday mes 6:30-8:30pm, Saturday - All day available August 12-17 - Monday-Friday mes 6:30-8:30pm, Saturday - All day available No Sunday Rentals available. Swim Lesson DescripƟon

PARENT TOT: AT LEAST 6 MO BUT LESS THAN 3 YRS (12:1 Ra o) Designed for children to begin the process of learning basic water skills to help them become comfortable and relaxed in a swimming pool environment. This class will cover basic water adapta on, front and back float, and basic survival skills. The child must be accompanied by a paren/guardian (12+ years) in the water who will help the child adapt to the aqua c environment with an instructor’s assistance.

TADPOLES: AT LEAST 2 1/2 BUT LESS THAN 4 (3:1 ra o) This class is geared towards toddlers who are gaining comfort in the water and working on basic swim skills. The goal of this class is to work on the process of swimming without the parent in the water and introduce new swimming skills. This class will cover front and back float, kicks and basic survival skills. In order to pass this class, students must be at least 3 years old and be able to float independently on front and back for at least 10 seconds as well as kick independently for 5 yards. Student/ Instructor ra on is 3/1. This class does not involve parents/guardians in the water.

SHRIMPS AT LEAST 3 YRS BUT LESS THAN 6 (5:1 Ra o) Designed for a first me swimmer who is gaining comfort and confidence in the water. This is for children who cannot place their face in the water. Class focuses on the fundamentals-blowing bubbles, front float, holding their breath underwater, bobbing, and front float with kick. In order to pass this course, students must be able to float independently on front and back for at least 10 seconds as well as kick independently for 5 yards.

OTTERS AT LEAST 3 YRS BUT LESS THAN 6 (5:1 Ra o) Intended for children who have mastered front and back floa ng. In order to enroll in this course, children must be able to float on their front and back independently for 10 seconds and kick independently for 5 yards. The class will teach freestyle and backstroke, underwater swim and retrieving objects from bo om of the pool. In order to pass this course children must be able to swim freestyle and backstroke independenltly for 10 yards and demostrate basic survival skills.

LEVEL 3: STROKE READINESS AT LEAST 5 YEARS OLD (7:1 Ra o) The focus of level 3 is coordina on of freestyle and backstroke for 15 yards with rhythmic breathing, with an introduc on to treading water and elementary backstroke. In addi on, safe diving prac ces from the side of the pool and underwater swimming will be taught. To enroll in this course children must be able to siwm freestyle and backstroke for at least 10 yards. To pass this course, children must be able to swim freestyle with rhythmic breathing and backstroke proficiently for at least 15 yards. Children must also be able to dive from side of pool safely, demonstrate an effec ve breastroke kick and complete basic survival skills.

LEVEL 4: STROKE DEVELOPMENT AT LEAST 6 YEARS OLD (8:1 Ra o) This is the course where children really begin to look like swimmers. Building on the skills already acquired, children will learn to swim at least 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke, increase endurance, master rhythmic breathing and learn the basics of breastroke, scissor kick, and turning at the wall. In order to enroll in this course, children must be able to swim freestyle with rythmic breathing and backstroke proficiently for at least 15 yards. In order to pass this course, students must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke. Children must also demonstrate 15 yards of bu erfly kick. They must be able to dive safely into the pool and complete basic survival skills.

LEVEL 5: STROKE REFINEMENT AT LEAST 6 YEARS OLD (8:1 Ra o) The purpose of this course is to coordinate and refine the main strokes learned and to introduce the bu erfly. In order to enroll in this course, children must be able to swim at least 25 yards for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke. Children must also demonstrate 15 yards of bu erfly kick. This class will con nue to teach breastroke, sidestroke and teach effec ve bu erfly. Introduc on of diving board skills and flip turns for all strokes will be taught. In order to complete this course, students must be able to swim at least 50 yards freestyle, backstroke, breaststoke, bu erfly, and elementary backstroke. They must also be able to complete the proper dives from the side of the pool and the board. Students must also be able to complete the open wall turns and compe ve turns of all frour compe ve strokes. If swimmers are able to complete these skills, it is recommended that they sign up for swim team through the Town of Gilbert.

LEVEL 6: STROKE REFINEMENT/ENDURANCE AT LEAST 9 YEARS OLD (8:1 Ra o) This course is designed for swim team level swimmers who are proficient in all 4 compe ve strokes. It will assist with individual stroke refinement and endurance. This class will cover diving skills, survival skills, and basic water rescue skills that will help prepare children for the Junior Lifeguard program.

LEVEL 2: PRIMARY SKILLS AT LEAST 5 YEARS OLD (7:1 Ra o) Intended for children who have mastered front and back floa ng. In order to enroll in this course, children must be able to float on their front and back independently for 10 seconds and kick independently for 5 yards. The class will teach freestyle and backstroke, underwater swim and retrieving objects from the bo om of the pool. In order to pass this course, children must be able to swim freestyle with rhythmic breathing and backstroke independently for 10 yards, while demonstra ng basic survival skills.

AQUACISE: 12 AND UP Aquacise is a low-impact, fun way to stay cool and tone your muscles. This class combines interval training with cardiovascular endurance, while introducing the benefits of resistance training in the water. Students will be taught proper, safe aqua c exercises and use various resistance equipment during all workout sessions. All skill levels are welcome.

Diving Classes BEGINNING DIVING (6:1 RATIO) AT LEAST 5 YEARS OLD This class will teach approaches and basic dives from the side of the pool and the board. This class will cover the proper front and back approaches as well as the basic front and back dives. Par cipants must be able to swim to side of pool a er going off board without assistance. We recommend one-piece swimsuits. No refunds or credit can be given for swim lessons.

I NTERMEDIATE DIVING 8:1 RATIO 6 YRS AND UP This class will learn tuck and pike forma on dives, along with more advanced skills like front and back flips. To enroll in this course, students must be able to properly demonstrate the front dive with a three step hurdle approach and back dive with T-Y-Circle I approach. A er comple ng this course, it is recommended students sign up for a dive team through the Town of Gilbert to further strengthen diving skills. We recommend one-piece swimsuits. No refunds or credit can be given for swim lessons.

SPRING Spring Swim Team Spring Season Dates: 4/1 - 5/9 (6 weeks)

Spring Swim Team Fee: $75

This youth swim team program designed for all ages and abili es. Your child must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted. Knowing strokes is not required but encouraged. In order to join the swim team, students must only be able to swim from one end to the other. Coaches will work with all age groups and swimmers to help them master all 4 compe ve strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breastroke, and bu erfly). For swimmers who demonstrate excep onal skill and meet specific me requirements, an addi onal, op onal prac ce me will be oered to provide more intensive training experience. Greenfield Summer Swim & Dive Team The Swim/Dive Team Program is non-compe ve in nature and is designed to introduce a child to the fun of compe environment. Open to youth ages 5-17. Junior Lifeguard This program is designed for youth 12-16 years of age who would like to work as a Lifeguard, but are too young to take the required classes from the American Red Cross. The experience gained in this class will encourage a youngster to con nue with their educa on and training to become a Cer fied Lifeguard through the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course. Training will include rule enforcement, CPR demonstra ons, First-Aid training, and various rescue scenarios. A endance at all classes is not mandatory but encouraged. Mesquite Summer Swim Team Summer Swim Team program begins on Monday May 13th at the Mesquite Aqua c Center, Greenfield, Williams Field, and Perry pools. The Swim Team Program is non-compe ve in nature and is designed to introduce a child to the fun of compe ve swimming in a team environment. Open to youth ages 5-17. Requirements for enrolling in Swim Team: *Swim Team: Swim one length of the pool (25 yards) unassisted in 60 seconds Swim Team starts on 5/13 - 5/16 (*previously preseason week - note special mes below) 5-6 yrs 4:30-5:00pm 7-8 yrs 5:00-5:40pm 9-10 yrs 5:40-6:30pm 11-17 yrs 6:30-7:30pm The swim team will take a week off and then con nues on 5/28 and will run through prelims 7/11 & 7/12 and championships 7/16. Prac ces run Mon-Thurs, with meets on Thursday evenings. *No prac ces on Memorial Day 5/27 or Independence Day 7/4. The whole summer of swim for only $110!
