RECREATION

ADAPTIVE RECREATION OVERVIEW The Gilbert Parks & Recreation Adaptive Recreation Program strives to provide a comfortable, inviting, educational, and social environment where participants can learn and interact with others. The goal is to provide the best opportunities for participants to enrich their lives. Adaptive Recreation events, field trips, and certain classes (such as bowling), are on hold indefinitely. Staff will keep you updated by email as to whether an event or field trip will take place and when. Please know that we all want things to go back to normal, so we have fun together again, but the health and wellbeing of our participants and staff is priority. As soon as we can we will add those things back into our schedule. Thank you for your understanding.

Adaptive Recreation Program Guidelines

For your health & safety, we have modified our summer programming according to the CDC guidelines. We believe the only way we could follow the new safety guidelines with low ratios and social distancing was to create an entirely new schedule for our participants. • Class sizes will be limited to 8 participants/providers. If you are bringing a provider, please make sure you let us know in advance. • Drop-In will not be allowed, all participants must pre-register for classes. • We are asking only one provider/parent be in the classroom for those needing additional assistance. • All participants will be asked to wash or sanitize hands when they enter the classroom. Hand sanitizer will be provided. • Tables will be placed adequate distances apart and participants will work at their assigned table/space. • No high fives, handshakes, hugs or intentional physical contact is allowed. We will always allow smiles, clapping and thumbs-up. • To help limit the number of patrons in the building we ask that parents stay in their vehicles and once the participant is ready to be picked-up they can call or text you. • The facility is not open to the public. Only class participants/providers will be allowed in the building.

All staff members are required to do the following: • • •

All staff will be masked while working. Our staff will be disinfecting equipment & high touch areas before, during and after activities. Wash hands regularly.
