Where do I start? I’m on a plane to Salt Lake City and I look out the window and see nothing but mountains. Have you ever seen a mountain and felt so small? Have you ever looked out the window to wonder what is on the other side of the mountain? I kept having this one constant thought pop into my head as I looked for miles and miles and miles. What is on the other side of these mountains? Is it just more land? Are there people? Is there a big city that I can’t bring into focus. Is it possibly another state that I am seeing as I look out? Or more important, is this cross wind going to allow us to even land at the airport?
I’m sure I’m not the only person who has wandered aimlessly outside the windows of an airplane, but I started thinking about all of the places that I could have gone to instead of my original destination. Tonight our orchestra is going to take you to all of those places that I never made it to that day.
Our city of Dunwoody is so small in comparison to the full magnitude of the size of Earth. The population of Dunwoody is close to 51,000 people where as the population of Earth is around 7.8 billion people. We are so proud tonight to present a wide array of music from outside of our home town. I want to take you on a train, a bus, a plane, a ship, or even just your imagination on a musical adventure around this world. Get your passport and lets go on an adventure.
