I FUOCHI FATUI di Alan Stefanato rappresentano un vero concentrato della più recente produzione dell’artista con un ampio corpus di lavori ad olio dagli esiti sorprendenti. Proprio come dei fuochi fatui contemporanei, nei suoi quadri si manifestano piccole fiammelle di mille declinazioni del Blu di Prussia, ma anche nubi e nebbie di tutte le infinite possibilità del bianco Lacca di Monaco emergenti da scenari bruni Terra di Kassel, celando e svelando così presenze, esseri e figure ambigue. Un immaginario nutrito dagli spiriti orientali di una subcultura pop intrisa di manga popola le sue opere, a cui l’artista affianca da anni una rigorosa ricerca proprio sul Blu di Prussia, tesa ad evocare l’assente presenza di un centro vuoto dell’Europa, una sorta di mitica Atlantide del recente passato europeo, che oggi esiste solo per valore storico e culturale. Passando inoltre attraverso significative suggestioni del paesaggio veneto, la tecnica di Stefanato, che spesso rasenta una pittura automatica dal procedere mandalico, presenta infine sulla tela apparizioni e scomparse, partenze e ritorni, visioni acquose che seducono lo spettatore in un gioco evocativo e che, originate dalla decomposizione della figura umana e del paesaggio, bruciano e brillano nelle loro ultime fiamme di luce e vita, fatte di nuvole, gas e nebbie. Se come tradizione vuole, i fuochi fatui si manifestavano in cimiteri e paludi, a dimostrazione dell’esistenza dell’anima o a rivelazione del proprio destino, i fantasmi evocati oggi da Stefanato aprono interrogativi di forte attualità, evidenziando una puntuale ricerca sull’identità del creatore contemporaneo che, fra le tenebre e le nebbie di una realtà asfittica, cerca una luce splendente, una vera chemiluminescenza capace di rivelare altri orizzonti e nuovi riposizionamenti dell’arte nella vita di tutti i giorni.

Fuochi Fatui by Alan Stefanato represents a true concentrate of the artistâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s most recent work, an extensive corpus of oil paintings, with surprising results. Just like contemporary will-o'-the-wisps (or ignis fatuus), not only little flames of a thousand shades of Prussian Blue are evident in his paintings but also clouds and mists of all the infinite possibilities of white Monaco lacquer scenarios emerging from Kassel earth brown, concealing and revealing ambiguous presences, beings and figures. An imaginarium nurtured by Eastern spirits of a pop subculture steeped in manga, populates Stefanatoâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s work, in which the artist combines years of rigorous research precisely of the Prussian Blue, which aims at evoking the absent presence of a hollow centre of Europe, a sort of mythical Atlantis of a recent European past, which today exists only for historical and cultural value. Passing also through meaningful suggestions of the Venetian landscape, Stefanatoâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s technique, which often verges on automatic art stemming from a mandelic procedure, finally presents on canvas appearances and disappearances, departures and returns. These watery visions that seduce the viewer into an evocative game originating from the decomposition of the human figure and the landscape, burn and shine in their last flames of light and life, made ??of clouds, gases and mists. If, as tradition has it, the wisps emerged in swamps and cemeteries, demonstrating the existence of the soul or the revelation of their own destiny, the ghosts evoked nowadays by Stefanato pose questions of great relevance, highlighting detailed research on the identity of the contemporary creator, between the darkness and the fog of an asphyxiated reality. They look for a bright light, a true chemiluminescence capable of revealing new horizons and a new repositioning of art in everyday life.
