Homebound Delivery

Do you know someone in the Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff area who is homebound (even temporarily) who would like to have library materials delivered to their home? Library volunteers deliver books, large print books, books on CD, and DVDs to homebound area residents every other Thursday morning. The homebound patron may select specific titles or have library staff choose for them.

How do I get started?

• You will have the option to register yourself and your child(ren) and log reading for everyone from one account.

How can kids earn prizes?

• Logging their reading.

• Completing our weekly challenges.

• Attending programs. Each program has a “secret code” that will be announced at programs. Go to “badges” and choose the “Reader About Town” badge.

Early Literacy June Is Pride Month

Every day we meet people different from ourselves. Modeling an attitude of acceptance helps support a positive environment which allows people to truly be themselves. One way to model this behavior is by listening to your child’s questions without judgment and keeping your answers simple and honest.

Motivation to Read

Keeping kids motivated to read and enjoy books can sometimes be a challenge.

Allowing your child to pick out what they’d like you to read with them can help make reading a memorable and habitual family event. Discuss what you read together. What parts did you like? Is there anything you would have changed?

Relating Letters to Favorite Activities

Does your child love food? Pick a letter and eat three foods that start with that letter. Talk about why it’s important to eat healthy foods.
