Maximum Items Checked Out
Patrons in good standing (owing less than $10) may have a maximum of 100 physical items checked out at a time. This includes 20 movies, 40 CDs, 5 video games, 5 vinyl records, 2 board games. New patrons may have a maximum of 10 physical items at a time for the first 30 days. (Maximums from digital collections, nontraditional items, and OhioLINK items vary.)
Cards for Children 17 & Under
Parents are responsible for their children’s library cards. Only legal guardians/custodians are allowed access to a child’s card. A parent or guardian may ask (in-person only) to have grandparents, siblings, child care providers, step-parents, etc. added to a child’s account.
Past Due Accounts
Past due accounts owing $25 or more may be sent to a collection agency.
Items 35 days overdue are marked lost, and a bill for the replacement cost and processing fee is mailed.
The library does not offer refunds for lost items that have been paid for and then returned later.
Lost, Stolen, or Missing Items & Cards
Patrons are responsible for all materials checked out on their card including lost and damaged items. Please report lost cards/items immediately.
Adding Users to Your Account
A patron’s library record is confidential. Patrons may ask at a service desk (inperson only) to have specified users added to their accounts.
Access GHPL Online
Access your account at ghpl.org to place reserves, choose your pickup location, renew materials, save searches, and create lists. Also, reserve a meeting room, download or stream digital media, learn about library events/news, donate to the library, and access information and resources.
Renewing Items
Most items automatically renew when due, up to the maximum number of renewals, unless requested by other patrons.

Diversity
March is Irish American Heritage Month! Find a picture of the Irish flag to share with your child and talk about how each color symbolizes something different. Look at other countries’ flags together and discuss what the different colors and symbols are and what your child thinks they could mean before looking them up together in a book or online.
Sing with Books
There are many fun picture books you can sing along with! When sharing one with your child, have them sing the words back to you, sing in high and low voices, and point to the words as you sing. If you need any suggestions for titles, just ask a Youth Services staff member!
Relate a Book to Daily Life
With your child, create a themed snack or dinner to complement a book they love! Ask them questions about what is similar and what is different from the food in the story. Does it look and taste the way they thought it would? Can they create a new story inspired by what you made together?
