Wish lists, long flights & going digital With a focus on providing solutions that leverage data centric workflows and assisting our people transform the way they work, we headed off to a recent vendor hosted conference with a wish list long enough to fill our passports. Fortunately, the item at the top of our list, was a focus of the conference. We attended Bentley Systems Year in Infrastructure 2018, in London this month, and heard about their new ‘Going Digital’ campaign. We look forward to sharing more about this and the other interesting things we learnt, next month. Stay tuned!
Revit model analytics - checking model health and data integrity Insight into model performance during the lifecycle of a project ultimately leads to greater project efficiency. Autodesk have developed a solution called Model Performance Analytics (MPA) to provide a model performance and health check for Revit files. The information is captured in a comprehensive dashboard, providing live and ongoing reports. GHD’s team in Chantilly have been working with Autodesk to evaluate this application and what it can do to enhance the way our people work.

ProjectWise - where have we come from and where are we going? It’s twenty years since the release of ProjectWise as a document management system and like many technologies it has undergone a significant evolution since its initial release. This evolution is reflected in the way GHD has used it, how we support it and how many people are using it. We look back on where we have come from with ProjectWise, where we are now and where we hope to take it in GHD as a project delivery tool.

Generative design - traditional problems solved differently A recent project in the Middle East has taken a team from GHD into a new world of design. Working with Autodesk, a team of designers, planners and key members from throughout the GHD network adopted the new generative design solution to tackle a traditional master planning problem. Generative design offers outcomes beyond anything previously possible, faster than ever before. The opportunies made available with generative design are set to transform the way we deliver projects and the services we offer our clients.

MicroStation V8i SS4 Software upgrade The MicroStation V8i SS4 software upgrade is now available for deployment. This version is the last in the SELECT Series generation of V8i releases prior to the release of CONNECT Edition. It is a requirement of Bentley’s Desktop Applications Support Policy to migrate to the latest generation of MicroStation. Support for older versions of MicroStation (XM, V8, V8i SS1, SS2, SS3) are expiring and will soon be no longer available. Now is the time to upgrade. GHD’s MicroStation Software Manager Stephen Horton has reviewed the upgrade and provided a summary of the changes.
