Dear Mike, Thank you for inves ng your me to read this. A er looking through your website, I realize there is no formal applica on for college student internships. This is not stopping me from reaching out because I think your workplace sounds incredible and full of crea ve energy. My goal is to find an internship in brand planning or strategy this summer, which will be the summer before I earn my MA in Adver sing from The University of Texas at Aus n. Your agency’s approach and pride in planning and strategy make me want to spend me under your tutelage while I hone my ins ncts, knowledge, and contribute my unique talents, while doing a great job for you. Here’s my story. I started on this journey my Junior year at The University of Texas at Aus n while earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Radio/Television/Film. My undergraduate coursework required that I take several adver sing classes which intrigued and inspired me. Then, while standing in a Hill Country field on a film set at three in the morning, I saw the stars align and pull me toward a career in adver sing. Teamwork, collabora on and crea ve thinking are the skills that connect my undergraduate degree to earning my M.A. at The Stan Richards School of Adver sing and Public Rela ons. I am a strategic thinker and problem solver. I want to spot solu ons that build the founda on under the brand, that make it reflect the consumer’s direc on. By the end of the upcoming Spring semester I will be well qualified for this internship. My capabili es will be bolstered with strategy-focused coursework as included in my résumé. This semester I have been working closely with my group in Media Management doing a case study of Casper Ma resses. In my Crea ve Strategies class my team is exploring the brand essence of TOMS shoes. I was given the task of crea ng a brand essence video for our TOMS team. My past team experiences as a senior photographer at The Daily Texan newspaper and as a grip/gaffer on many graduate student film sets proves to me that collabora on is an exhilara ng part of problem solving. These past efforts took me places and introduced me to people I would not have experienced in the rou ne of typical student life. Adver sing also takes a person on varied journeys of learning. Pursuit of such journeys are an essen al part of life for me. A er reviewing my résumé, I hope you will grant me an interview. I am impressed by Publicis Hawkeye’s philosophy and its caring culture.
