Though still in his 20s, Joel Ross is a vibraphone virtuoso whose dynamic single-mallet playing style wows audiences. His artistry on the vibes landed him a recording contract with the legendary Blue Note label, on which he’s released a trio of albums: “KingMaker,” “Who Are You?” and the newest, “The Parable of the Poet.” The in-demand collaborative musician regularly performs across the country and around the world. In his live sets, Ross showcases a lyrical intuition that’s equally grounded in melody and phrasing. The steadfast improviser plays the moment, allowing moods to set, linger and transform. Ross recently became one of the youngest artists to earn a coveted Residency Commission from The Jazz Gallery and a spot in The Jazz Gallery All-Stars band, ultimately performing live at The Kennedy Center. In 2021, he enjoyed a residency at the Roulette Intermedium for Jazzfest Berlin, during which he premiered original work.
