The #everymirrorheaux movement was born when I realized that I am a tiny bit vain. I’ m not the vain person that will have a pedestrian running across the street because I’ m driving on the sidewalk while applying my Riri Woo. A Bitch like looking at herself though. will be Every mirror that I come across

graced with this face and body because. That’ s it. That’ s the post.
I wasn ’t always the confident beauty that you may see on my instagram page. Those pictures are carefully and occasionally artfully curated.
The pics of me looking a little rough around the edges, that’ s what I wanted to be seen. The confidence that I gained post 40 is real. There was a level of “fuckit” that I was gifted by The Universe on my birthday that I cannot ever imagine living without. So yeah, every mirror heaux.

Once I began to post my pictures with the hashtag, my friends joined in. Initially they thought I was joking. Wondering when to take me seriously should be a fulltime job that comes with benefits. When the realization hit that not only was I really into this, but that I wanted company, they joined in.
#EveryMirrorHeaux isn ’t specific to any gender or heteronormative ideal. This is an all inclusive juncture. It is about loving yourself right where you are even if you are in the midst of transition. If you have decided that the only competition that you have is the person that you were yesterday then this is for you. If you are about uplifting yourself and others around you, including strangers, please join in. I recently attended my friend’ s birthday brunch and there was a woman celebrating her 58th birthday. She said that she was disappointed that she didn ’t get her tutu in time. I told her to shake her ass anyway. Every time she passed by me, she did a twerk and I did one too! I am glad that I was able to inspire that in her. I hope that she passed that energy along and that she knows that she is an amazing person.
Everytime you pass a mirror, stop and take a selfie. Remind yourself that you are more than the bad moments but that you are a bad bitch.
Make sure you tag me so that I can give you a proper salute. #everymirrorheaux
