Introduction to GETA

CLASS OF 2026 - FRESHMEN

In the month of September the intro to GETA class started the Frankenstein Board Project. The Frankenstein Board, it is a project where students familiarize themselves by using 32 different tools on a wooden plank. The Frankenstein Board Project is broken up into 5 pages. Currently most of the class is on page 4. On page 4 students are learning to use nail guns, wire strippers and crimpers, and cordless drills. The class has been very enjoyable for students. Overall, the intro to GETA has been very interesting and fun.

GETA I

CLASS OF 2025 - SOPHOMORES

In the past month in the GETA sophomore class, students have been working on using the laser cutter, working with circuitry, and the 3d printer. Every week students rotated, creating a design on either the laser cut, 3d printer, or the circuitry. Sophomores used critical thinking skills to construct a purposeful item. For example, on the 3d printer sophomores created a camera blocker that was functioning and useful. Then on the laser cutter students created things such as bookmarks, a clock to tell time, a phone stand, and many more items. Through the process of creating items on the laser cutter, students had to use a program called Retina Engrave. The program helped students create all the pieces and sizes of the project online.

GETA II

CLASS OF 2024 - JUNIORS

For the month of August to October, we first began with the learning different methods of transferring electrons, and protons, and how it generates different current. We learned this process through different experiments relating to the chemical changes within the lemon. After having a basic understanding of current and electrons through the lemon, we went to our further and bigger project being the Wind Turbine. Before beginning the wind turbine we first explored the electromagnetic current within wind turbines, After being explained through the process of how current is generated, we gathered as groups developed the wind turbines, through dividng and conquer of each section of the Turbine. Currently were on the finalizing steps of the turbine and plan on standing them up.

GETA III

CLASS OF 2023 - SENIORS

For the months of August October

In GETA III, we worked on learning about electrons, finished our LMS module project and started work on OSHA. The first few weeks we began to work on electrons and learned about them through the leyden jar and the lemon battery lab. In the Lemon battery lab we learned how electrons in lemons can create electrons when reaction with Zinc. The Navy came into our class and presented the benefits of joining the navy after high school and what they do in the Navy. We also began and finished our senior project (LMS Module project) individually. We had to choose a product to research and work on and make a google classroom teaching someone else how to use the product. We presented our projects recently to the whole class which went smoothly. We also began work on OSHA’s safety training which when completed will get us certified. We have currently put OSHA on hold during presentations and before starting our next project.
