Hydrogen RC Cars

Outside of the main GETA classes, our students are still working diligently to build up their engineering skills! For example, check out our Hydrogen RC car team! Each year the Hydrogen RC car team designs and builds its own RC car which uses hydrogen and a miniature hydrogen fuel cell as a power source. Near the end of the academic school year, after all of their hard work and diligence, the team races their car in the NorCal Finals. If they place high enough at the NorCal Finals, they move on to the California State Finals. This year, the RC car team is looking forward to completing a newly imported BD9 Chassis, as well as experimentally modifying a new hydrogen fuel cell in order to make it more efficient. The original team also looks forward to helping and guiding our new 2nd year team (which is currently recruiting new GETA members) so that they can share in an experience that promises excitement and a time of their lives in racing Hydrogen RC cars!!!!So far, the original team has won 5 awards over the course of 4 events and 2 years: 2 first place finishes for Engineering, 2 second place awards for Energy and Endurance, and 1 third place trophy for endurance.

IVAN HUANG, NICHOLAS INONG 05

GETA II (Juniors)

The juniors are learning about various types of green energy, from hydroelectricity with their hydroelectric turbine projects to biofuels! They’re also beginning to learn about electric vehicles and prepare for the solar regatta and go-karts! 06

GETA III (Seniors) Our seniors are continuing to prepare themselves to enter the workforce after high school with job shadow opportunities and visiting the SRBX career fair!
