This project was based in Venice and revolved around the Venetian campi (or square). Venice is struggling with mass tourism and the subsequent expulsion of local people, who feel forgotten in the current climate. The aim was for the building itself to become a protest. Through the use of an interactive façade, infilled with various adaptable and moveable panels facing the campo, building occupants are given full control, choosing whether it is open or closed and customised with posters, banners, graffiti and the like.Through the facade and function, the building will empower the local community and the campo, responding against tourism in the overwhelmed Venice of the 21st century. This project was part of my Part 1 undergraduate Architecture degree, for which I received a first class mark.
