ABOUT ANAT COHEN
Anat Cohen is an internationally renowned clarinetist, saxophonist, and bandleader celebrated for her virtuosity, expressive sound, and ability to blend diverse musical traditions. Born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel, she developed a deep passion for jazz and improvisation from an early age. She later moved to the United States to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she honed her craft and expanded her musical horizons.
Cohen’s career has been marked by a distinctive approach that seamlessly fuses jazz with elements of Brazilian choro, swing, Latin music, and traditional klezmer influences. Her mastery of the clarinet, in particular, has earned her widespread acclaim, and she has been recognized as the top clarinetist in numerous DownBeat Critics and Readers Polls. She has also received multiple GRAMMY® nominations, affirming her status as one of the most innovative and influential musicians of her generation.
As a bandleader, Cohen has led a variety of ensembles, from small jazz combos to the expansive Anat Cohen Tentet, which explores rich, orchestral textures and dynamic arrangements. Her discography includes acclaimed albums such as Claroscuro, Luminosa, and Happy Song, each showcasing her ability to traverse musical genres while maintaining a deep emotional connection with her audience.
