Young Democrats to host historic convention The Georgetown Young Democrats will host event with politicians from all across the state By ALEX CAUDILL Staff Writer In the summer of 2014 the Georgetown College and Scott County Young Democrats began to explore the idea of putting in a bid to host the 2015 Kentucky Young Democrats annual convention. The groundwork was laid in the fall and the 70 page bid was written. In January, the Kentucky Young Democrats (KYD) announced that the Georgetown College Young Democrats (GCYDs) would be hosting the convention. Beating out bids from both Louisville and Bardstown, Scott County will be hosting the convention for the first time in the history of the organization. In the past, up to 175 Young Democrats have attended the state convention from around the Commonwealth. The host committee is hopeful that 150 young professionals will attend. For the past two years, Georgetown College students have attended the annual convention around the state as delegates. Enjoying their experiences there, a core group was formed to lobby for hosting the convention in Georgetown.
