Editorial Japan with a Taste of (South) Korea!

WELCOME DEAR CON-GOER, to another year of fun and excitement at Genki! A lot can be said for Genki, but one thing is for sure - we’ve never been afraid to innovate and re-invent ourselves, and this year is no different! We looked at the communities in Denmark and thought to ourselves “Hey, wait a minute..! The domestic K-pop community that has been steadily growing, but unlike for people interested in Japanese culture, these people have no convention of their own!” So we thought it was finally for us to make good on the promise we made back in 2015, when the leadership changed - that Genki would slowly change from being a convention exclusively for Japanese culture, and instead become a convention for select East Asian (Japanese, Chinese & Korean) cultures. We’re starting safe and small though; this year, we only have a few K-pop related events, BUT if they prove successful, we plan on going all out for Genki 2018, to hopefully satisfy your K-pop needs! K-Pop content is not the only thing we’re expanding with though! We’ve been granted a bigger area of Farum Arena than previous years, which means that we have a DEDICATED KARAOKE ROOM, so you can sing your heart out! Look for it on our map and programme! Additionally, we’ve been permitted to use the GRASS AREA BEHIND THE ARENA, so look forward to morning Tai Chi as well as being able to see and try out Tae Kwon Do for yourselves! We hope that these, as well as many of the other improvements we’ve made, will make you have an even more enjoyable time at Genki, so please be sure to let us know at the feedback panel or in our survey! But I’m running out of space on the page, so that’s all from me - I hope you have a great time!! Best regards Victor M. Alring Main organizer

rules Genki is a place for everyone, and we want people to get along and have a nice experience. However, we can not do this without having some rules in place. In addition to Danish National laws, there a several rules that participants must abide by, in order to ensure that everyone has a good time at the convention. All rulesets for the convention need to be followed when applicable, i.e. photo rules, press rules, Expo Hall, weapon rules and “Free hugs” rules. Instructions and guidelines stated, either visually or by staff and security, have to be followed at all times. While on convention grounds, consumption or usage of any intoxication og hallucinatory drugs/substances is prohibited. Smoking is permitted, but only to designated areas. Exceptions may be applicable to certain events when stated with visible information upon entering the particular event. Exception is only valid during that particular event. General noise levels should be kept within reasonable limits. When queues form at the entrances of events, keep order and behave nicely to your fellow guests. Do not, in any way, block corridors, pathways, or any other place where movement is crucial or where blocking the path presents a fire hazard. Cosplay is not consent! Refrain from unsolicited touching of other people, their cosplays, or their props - be it physically or verbally. If you feel you’ve been accosted or harassed, whether it be physically or verbally, or you’ve witnessed someone who has, then immediately contact our security personnel or go to the Info Desk and tell them what happened. Our security personnel will then take care of the situation. Breaking any of these rules will, depending on severity, result in a warning or a ban from the rest of the convention. Several warnings can also trigger a ban, as well as being reported to the police, if what has been done constitutes a crime.

rules & 18+ lounge Rules for wristbands Guest without a valid Genki wristband will only have access to designated free areas. A fee will be collected for replacing a lost or damaged wristband. Replacement wristbands can only be issued in the check-in area and you must show valid ID and ticket. Special Photo/Video rules By attending Genki, the participants give implicit consent for Genki and The Reactor ApS - the company behind Genki - to use any and all photo and video footage taken of them, by official Genki photographers, for any sort of commercial and non-commercial purposes. Example of such purposes are: - Advertisements - Website galleries - Online material - Presentations - Etc. If a person does not wish for their likeness to be used, they can either tell the photographer, whereafter the photographer must delete the photo, or contact Genki directly. See more detailed rules in our rules section on Genki.dk or on our rule posters.

18+ Lounge

This year, Genki will roll out our 18+ Lounge, where you can enjoy cold refreshments, with or without alcohol. Opening hours are Friday 21:00 - 06:00 and Saturday 23:30 - 06:00. As the name implies, one must be 18+ to enter. This means you must provide a valid ID with picture, e.g. driver’s license. Also, we ask our guests not to take alcoholic drinks outside the 18+ Lounge area, and due to regulations, only one alcoholic/energy drink can be had at a time. Staff is allowed to refuse serving customers, if we believe they have had more than they can handle. Purchasing an alcoholic beverage and giving it to a minor is a crime, and you risk losing both wristband and future access to the convention. We trust our guests to treat the 18+ privilege with respect, but if anyone should fail to do so, please contact the Security staff.

sleep hall The Sleep Halls are only accessible to people with proper Genki wristbands. The magenta wristbands (Sleep Hall 2) and purple wristband (Sleep Hall 1) provides access to the Sleep Hall and convention area, whereas the turquoise wristband only provides access to the convention area. There will be marked areas where you can sleep; as we must have clear pathways for escape routes in case of fire, and also to make it easier for people to get around. Respect these markings. Leaving items in the Sleep Hall is at your own risk, so make sure to bring valuables with you when you leave. On Sunday, the last day of Genki, everyone must have vacated the Sleep Hall no later than 11:30! Not abiding to the Sleep Hall rules puts you at risk of losing your wristband, which will nullify your access to the convention.

Health & Safety If you have ever been to Genki before, then you probably know who we are. If you haven’t, then we have put together a little introduction: We are the teams of medics and security, who works tirelessly to ensure that you have an amazing convention in a secure environment. We can be found around the convention from Friday to Sunday, and are easily recognisable by the white staff shirts. Your eyes and ears are of great importance to us. If you ever find yourself, or witness someone in a situation where you believe our assistance is needed, then never hesitate to contact us. In other words: If you SEE something, SAY something. If you need us, but can’t find us? Then we are no more than a radio call away; you can get in touch with us via the information desk. Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. Therefore, there are some things that we would like you to help us with: - Respect the given rules at the convention. - Remember food and drinks. - Help each others. We can not stress this enough; guests often fall ill due to lack of hydration or proper nutrition. So please remember to drink plenty of water and eat regularly every day. And remember: We are here for your sake. We hope that you will have a fantastic Genki 2017!
