WHAT’S IT LIKE?
The Hanover College DPT program is an accelerated two-year hybrid education model. Our curriculum combines the best aspects of hybrid learning and dynamic learning experience:
HANOVER COLLEGE DPT PROGRAM GUIDE | EXPERIENCE 50% 30% 20% Pg 2
ONLINE 50%
Students can expect to dedicate 42-54 hours/week to coursework. Coursework includes face-to-face live class sessions (synchronous) and independent learning activities students complete on their own time (asynchronous). This unique evidence-based curriculum is based on high-quality, engaging coursework developed by Hanover College DPT faculty, with threads of service, innovation, interprofessional education, and telehealth, woven throughout to prepare students for the future of physical therapy practice.
IN PERSON 20%
During year one, students will attend eight (8) in-person lab immersions at Hanover College and/or the Refinery Event Center located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. A unique feature available to students on Hanover’s campus is our state-of-the-art anatomy laboratory in the Hanover College Science Center. Through a multi-modal approach for hands-on, active learning, students will experience full body dissection, spaces for review of prosected body parts, and other areas for student engagement via human cadavers, technology via 3D printed models, clay models, and media enhanced virtual anatomy.
CLIN ED 30%
During year two, students will participate in three (3) Clinical Education rotations (31 total weeks). Our academic faculty values the essential partnerships with clinical educational faculty in creating quality clinical education experiences. Integrated clinical education experiences during our lab immersions are concurrent with didactic course work. Clinical internships, in a variety of practice settings with exposure to patients across the lifespan, follow the completion of the didactic coursework and occur during the fourth through the sixth semesters of the program.

As President, you are basically the voice for the entire cohort, not only relaying information from the faculty to the students, but also effectively communicating to the faculty how the entire cohort is feeling. It is a very rewarding position to be in.
My favorite part are the lab immersions. It is nice to be able to study at home, but it is even nicer to interact with all the faculty and classmates at the lab immersions. Labs are the place where all the information learned online really comes together and everything is put into perspective.
Hanover, plain and simple, is different. Hanover is different because it is unique from all the other DPT schools out there. The Hanover staff is family and made me feel right at home from the start of my admissions process. This staff and college has made me feel like I am a part of something rather than just another student.

ACCREDITATION AND YOU
Did you know? Every new Doctor of Physical Therapy program must follow the accreditation process set forth by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education or CAPTE. Here is Hanover’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program’s story.
December 2020: Hanover DPT submitted an Application for Candidacy (AFC) documenting the institution's plans for the implementation of the program.
January 2021: An on-site review took place to verify the AFC and a written report was submitted describing the results.
May 2021: The program was granted Candidate for Accreditation status. Hanover DPT allowed to admit students and implement the program.
February – April 2021: CAPTE reviewed the report and AFC determined Hanover DPT made satisfactory progress toward compliance with the standards and required elements of an accredited program.
July 2023: Hanover DPT anticipates completing the Accreditation Process. Federal regulations permit graduates of the initial cohort to sit for the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) regardless of final program accreditation outcome.
Hanover College has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), 3030 Potomac Ave., Suite 100, Alexandria, Virginia 22305-3085; phone: 703-706- 3245; email: accreditation@apta.org. https://www.capteonline.org/about-capte/what-we-do/accreditation-process
