A message from our President and CEO
From all of us at General Electric Credit Union (GECU), we hope you enjoyed a warm and relaxing holiday season with your loved ones. The start of a new year is always an exciting time as we look forward to new opportunities and ways to serve you. Before diving into 2025, I would like to take a moment and reflect on the past year, which was particularly significant for GECU.
As you may recall, 2024 marked the 70th anniversary of the Credit Union. Celebrating 70 years of service was a momentous occasion for us, signifying our enduring commitment to our members and community. We commemorated this milestone throughout the summer with giveaway opportunities for our members, while our team members completed more than 170 Hours of Giving in June, our official anniversary month.
It was only fitting that this year also marked another milestone with the opening of our first full-service branch on the West Side of Cincinnati. To celebrate the opening of our Dent branch, we hosted a special event to thank members and non-members for visiting and to show our excitement about joining this community. As part of our opening efforts, we partnered with locally owned businesses to demonstrate our commitment to supporting our new community, and to connect with potential new members

…we also remain focused on enhancing your everyday banking experiences as a GECU member.
while raising awareness of the Dent branch. Additionally, to further support the community, GECU made donations to local non-profit organizations as new and existing members opened certain products at the branch.
In response to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, our team took immediate action to support those affected. We provided payment and account assistance to impacted members and partnered with Matthew 25: Ministries to donate essential supplies such as paper products, bottled water, cleaning supplies, and first-aid items. Our hope is that these efforts will aid in the recovery process for communities throughout the Southeastern U.S. Heading into 2025, the outlook of the U.S. economy is optimistic. Although economic growth is projected to be slower than in previous years – due in part to the lingering effects of past high rates – inflation is likely to continue easing in the coming months. As prices stabilize and purchasing power grows, the hope is that our money as consumers will stretch further. The Federal Reserve will keep a close eye on jobs reports as a key economic indicator as this may signal future rate cuts.
Our Dent branch is now open!
We’re excited to be part of the West Side community with our new branch in Green Township, located at: 5927 Harrison Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45248

A decreasing rate environment presents a great opportunity to benefit from lower mortgage, auto, credit card, and personal loan rates. And while savings rates may be lower than in past years because of this new environment, you can rest assured we will continue offering competitive rates.
This year, we also remain focused on strengthening your everyday banking experiences as a valuable GECU member. Our commitment to providing exceptional service and greater convenience is reflected in several exciting initiatives currently underway. We are working diligently to make our Round-Up checking account feature more robust, while also enhancing our Home Equity Line of Credit product. Stay tuned for more details on these and other enhancements throughout the year.
We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in the new year and look forward to further supporting your financial journey while making a positive impact in our communities. As always, thank you for your loyalty and for allowing us to serve you.

Know your mortgage options for when rates drop
GECU has mortgage options to meet your needs.
Whether you’re a growing family in need of more space or an empty nester looking to downsize, high interest rates have led many to delay buying or refinancing a home. While mortgage rates are beyond your control, researching your lending options now will allow you to act when rates become more favorable.
Make your move
As you find the perfect home, we’re here to help with the perfect mortgage. We offer a wide variety of options so you can choose the one that fits your unique needs:
Conventional, Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and jumbo financing
Construction loans with extended rate lock options
Options with low down payments, low closing costs, and rate reductions
Our Annual Meeting is: Wednesday, April 30th at 4 pm
Refinance to a lower rate
If you purchased a house in the last few years, pay attention to where rates go in the near future. Depending on your original rate and how low rates drop, it may be advantageous to refinance.
This opens the door to big savings over the life of your loan because it may lower your monthly payment. A reduced rate environment is also a good time to leverage your home’s equity to finance home projects or other large expenses.
Our local, award-winning team of mortgage experts can help you at each step of your homeownership journey, whether that’s gauging the right time to refinance or choosing the best mortgage loan when the right moment comes. To learn more, scan the QR code or visit: gecreditunion.org/mortgage
