HISTORY

I N T R O D U C T I O N T O G L A S G O W A N D C L Y D E R A P E C R I S I S ( G C R C )

Glasgow & Clyde Rape Crisis operates on feminist principles and has a gender based definition of sexual violence. This means sexual violence is viewed as an expression of power and exerted control by men. We offer women centred and survivor focused services. We do not refer to women as victims, but instead as survivors. We believe women.

OUR OPERATING PRINCIPLES

OUR MISSION

Glasgow & Clyde Rape Crisis exists to support and empower survivors, seek justice, reduce the impact of sexual violence, challenge oppression and identify barriers to equality.

OUR VISION

A society where women and girls are equal and free from all forms of sexual violence.

To contribute to the prevention of sexual violence and the ability of survivors to disclose their experiences safely.

We recognise the importance of trauma informed, skills practice focused training for both young people and members of staff (academic and community led institutions, organisations and the like).

WHAT WE OFFER AND WHY

P R E V E N T I O N , E D U C A T I O N A N D

All of this is underpinned by our Centre's Strategic Objectives:

T R A I N I N G

To campaign for social change that tackles the sexual inequality women and girls experience.

Through education and prevention training, we promote social norms that protect women and girls against violence and teach skills to prevent or challenge sexual violence. We also provide opportunities to empower and support girls and women, creating secure environments that do not condone but challenge gender inequalities such as gender based violence.

Delivery:

GBV can often be perpetrated in workplaces which will effect staff productivity, safety and morale. As experts in GBV we are often asked to facilitate discussions with staff around how they feel about behaviours in their workplace, how they are managed by senior staff and what changes they would like to see. At times it helps to discuss these feelings and emotions to create a better, healthier and safer workplace for all.
