Chicago, Illinois — 2 pages First Gay President To Be Elected November 4, 2119, James Jones was elected President of the United States. Finally after many years of the LGBT community fighting for their rights, we now have our first gay president. James Jones grew up in Manhattan, New York, and was raised in a conservative family. Growing up, James knew he was gay but was too scared to tell his parents because he didn’t think they would approve. When he turned 18, he finally decided to come out to his parents. James told the public, “Although it was one of the hardest things I had to do, I knew I couldn’t keep the secret in anymore. After all I couldn't change who I was”. When James made the decision to run for president he knew it’d be a long journey. There had never been a president that was open about their sexuality like this. James attended Duke University in North Carolina, and went to Law School. His dream was to help others in the LGBT community. James is now married to Jeff Joneson, and together they adopted two children. James partner says, “We are all proud of him. He has been very busy throughout this election process. I never thought I’d be married to the President”. James wishes to change the world for the better. His mission is to bring more equality. Whether it is for race, religion, class, gender, or sexuality. James

told an interview, “I want others in the LGBT community to feel comfortable with who they are. Hopefully becoming the first gay president helps shows that times are finally changing”. James Jones never thought he’d become president himself. Although he lost the popular vote, he won the electoral college vote, 352 to 179.

During this time James Jones ran for president, same sex marriage was still a problem for some people. He wants everyone to become more educated on the history of the LGBT community. James Jones New Law Unfortunately some states in the U.S. do not have specific discrimination laws in place for the LGBT community. James Jones is working on a law right now. “All states require no discrimination towards to LGBT community in any form including employment, housing, public accommodations, and credit”.

Dear James Jones, My name is Catherine Benson and I am 18 years old. I am writing this letter to you right now because I’ve been so inspired by all the work you’ve done. Not only do you want to fight for the LGBT community, but also just creating equality between everyone no matter what race, class, gender, economic status, etc. When I saw you were running for President I remember thinking to myself, he’s never going to win this. Well, you proved me completely wrong about that. I am also apart of the LGBT community and I face discrimination pretty often. I also live with my very religious, conservative parents. Growing up was very difficult for me to express my true self. I hid behind what my parents wanted me to be until I couldn’t keep it in anymore and told them. Things have never been the same in those relationships with my family. To them, I am a problem. I hope you really enjoy your time as President. This isn’t something everyone gets the power to do. So, use this advantage to do big things. Sincerely, Catherine
