IN-HOUSE

PRODUCTION Nordia Signature products are produced in-house by Neerlandia-Urk. We are one of the leading fish processing companies in Urk, the largest fish centre in Europe, and have been for almost half a century. Over 200 employees are dedicated to the processing and supply of fish. Neerlandia-Urk boasts ultra-modern processing facilities with its own deepfreeze installation and storage of deep-frozen products. Much fish is filleted by hand, but Neerlandia-Urk also has filleting machines for the production of salmon, amongst others. Most fish is transported to our European clients in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Scandinavia, within 48 hours.

Thanks to in-house production, we are able to produce in accordance with the most stringent criteria and guarantee top quality.

Caught sustainably with respect for nature. Responsible use of fish resources, so that levels can be maintained and we ensure a stable food source together. Treating nature with respect is also a prerequisite when it comes to fish farming and we opt for produce that is fully traceable.

Historically, Neerlandia-Urk specialised in the processing of fish from the North Sea, but fish from around the whole world is now imported daily. Almost 20,000 tonnes of fish are processed in the 5,000 m2 production facility every year. Of this fish, 95% is destined for export.

SALMON

Has become one of the most important products in recent years. Neerlandia-Urk is centrally located

in the logistics chain. With direct access to salmon farms in Scotland, Iceland and Norway, which are situated within ideal distance of Neerlandia-Urk’s production facility. From there, the salmon can be distributed throughout the whole of Europe by road quickly. Neerlandia-Urk is situated close to Schiphol Airport and the Port of Rotterdam for export to the United States and the rest of the world.

FROM THE ICE-COLD WATERS OF NEWFOUNDLAND Nordia Signature offers a range of produce caught in the North Atlantic Ocean of Canada. Caught by MSCcertified methods that guarantee sustainable fishing. Our partners in Canada support and lead scientific research trips. Along with the Canadian Department of Fisheries & Oceans, they participate in the development of fishery management plans. Fishing spares vulnerable areas and takes reproduction into account in the spawning period.


GREENLANDIC

HALIBUT Greenland halibut is caught in the waters around Newfoundland. The fish is deep-frozen on board straight after being caught. The fish is processed further into fillets, loins, or steaks in the factory in the Netherlands. Greenland halibut has a lovely texture.

Our cold-water shrimp is known all around the world, from luxury restaurants to home kitchens. Available all year round thanks to our deep-frozen stock. Our shrimp is regarded as the best and tastiest cold-water shrimp in the world. Our shrimp is cooked and then deep-frozen within minutes of being caught in the North Atlantic Ocean to best retain the sweet flavour and thick texture. CANADIAN

FLATFISH Our partner controls over 90 percent of the Canadian quota for North Atlantic flatfish. Fishing takes place off the famous Grand Banks of Newfoundland and continues all year round. The fish is processed straight after being caught and deep-frozen to retain freshness and quality. The Yellow Tail Flounder is known for its sweet, refined flavour and delicate texture. The fishery is MSC-certified.

COD

Our subsidiary, Royal Norden Seafood, is located directly beside Thyborøn harbour, with its supply of top quality cod from day-fishers. A specialist in the processing of cod for 30 years, with daily production of many tonnes of fresh cod fillet. Sustainability is of the utmost importance to Royal Norden Seafood and they have direct contact with MSC-certified fishers, including suppliers of the highly regarded Arcto-Norwegian cod. Danish Royal Norden is also distinctive in the production of salted cod fillet, better known as salt cod/saltfish.
