This Anti-Doping Policy is adopted and implemented according to advice from World Taekwondo in furtherance of international efforts to eradicate doping in the sport and in conformance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code. As members of World Taekwondo and World Taekwondo Europe, the MTA must ensure that it complies with the provisions of World Taekwondo’s Anti-Doping Rules (as per link provided at the bottom of this document) and the principles and requirements of the WADA Code.

All those involved in taekwondo, including players and player support personnel (coaches, medical and administrative personnel) have a responsibility to respect the Anti-Doping Policy of World Taekwondo and any other relevant body in accordance with the WADA Code.

The MTA shall comply with World Taekwondo’s Anti-Doping Code, relevant International Standards and the requirements of Malta’s National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO). The MTA directs that its member academies/clubs and individual practitioners observe the requirements of this policy and World Taekwondo’s Anti-Doping Rules which includes World Taekwondo’s and NADO’s enforcement of the Anti-Doping Rules (including carrying out testing) directly in respect of athletes (including national level athletes) and other persons under their anti-doping authority.

By adopting these Anti-Doping Rules, and incorporating them into their governing documents and rules of sport, the MTA declares that it shall cooperate with and support World Taekwondo and NADO in that function. The MTA also recognises, abides by and implement the decisions made pursuant to these Anti-Doping Rules, including the decisions imposing sanctions on persons under their authority.

The MTA shall take appropriate action to enforce compliance with the WADA Code and International Standards according to the provisions of World Taekwondo’s Anti-Doping Rules, recognises the authority of NADO and will assist as appropriate the NADO’s implementation of the national testing program for taekwondo

All clubs/academies members of the MTA, all practitioners and athletes of the sport, all athlete support personnel associated with such athletes, are bound to agree by these Anti-Doping Rules and to submit to the Results Management authority of the Anti-Doping Organization in conformity with the Code as a condition participation. The MTA shall report any information suggesting or relating to an anti-doping rule violation to World Taekwondo and to NADO and shall cooperate with investigations conducted by any Anti-Doping Organization with authority to conduct the investigation.

The MTA shall ensure to invoke its disciplinary rules to prevent athletes and athlete support personnel, who use prohibitive substances of prohibited methods without valid justification, from participating or providing support in MTA’s events as well as those organised at clubs/academies.
