PER S O NAL S TAT EM EN T Since youth, I have been fascinated by landscapes and designs, then I found the profession of Landscape Architecture.

I am blessed with having much opportunities to explore when growing up, travelling different corners of the world, Australia; Scandinavia; Europe; many more and most recently China. Each country and culture had influenced my perspective and knowledge towards the relationship between human-made and nature, what differentiated these cultures between each other are the way they live; design; and interact with their surrounding natural environment, where all would act diversely along with their traditions.

I have been carrying this interest and enthusiasm in exploring and understanding different culture-landscapes, through my studies starting from science in High School to design in Foundation, my spirit ultimately grew even more dominant once I found the profession of Landscape Architecture, a career that can be driven with my passion for design and exploration of nature between cultures, will be the most satisfying way to hone myself as a person.

Now, having myself with a greater grasp in understanding of the complexity in our society and environment during my studies in UNSW, equipped with substantial skills and knowledge along with my experience in exploring numerous cultures. I am not afraid to take the next step, to put myself foward and fully engage into the Landscape Architecture profession, creating opportunities and providing changes to our current slowly disconnecting relationship between the built environment and nature, teaching our next generation to strengthen this bond.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: PATCH & DASH, a double meaning to its site and experience, where visitors can get from using this space. The site being as a outdated golf course only area, turning into a biking focused park. ‘PATCH’ means to renew; to patch up the site with new & NPSF FYDJUJOH GFBUVSFT MJLF B CJLF XIFFM XPVME UP HFU àYFE GSPN JUT PME UJSFT 8IJMF ‘DASH’ means to go foward with speed, symbolises to improve & proceed swiftly like a mountain biker when dashing across a meandering track.

Retain the landform of exMPGC, reused differently for the wider community leisure purpose.

Link bike trails into Moore Park from Centennial Park, creating opportunities for views & dynamics of cycling experience.

PATCH & DASH will be an energetic social hub, woven by dynamic bike tracks through serpentine landscapes.

With Green Square and other subsurbs slowly becoming as more populated residential zones, Sydney inner city simply has a lack of intermediate exciting trails with underdeveloped bike lanes across the streets to keep up with the increase. with successive existing programs surrounding Moore Park; landscapes providing different interesting opportunities in views & spaces; and Centennial Park having more than 750,000 cyclist utilise the bike loop annually.

Centennial Parklands named as the ‘green lungs’ of inner Sydney, bike trails as the blood vessels, why not extend the trail; patch up the site; and give a bit of a variation of dash to Moore Park?

DASH & PATCH features are named into different patches, and bike trails as dashes, by using the qualities of the orginal landscape, the site is transformed into a great youthful; exciting; and comfortable space, patched from its old form.

This catalogue of commons is aimed to document, categorise and explore multiple types of nodes that contains or serves the needs of different commons, which had allowed these spacse to be successful in terms of its purpose & development. The locations that are selected are ones that are more familiar; reachable daily; and are also be near my originated hometowns, creating a balance of variability in exhibiting examples across cultures & methods.

The definition of ‘Commons’ stretches a large categories of things, ranging from living to inanimate objects; practices to values; or histories to modernism, all of which differs from its location and to its surrounding users. Commons are elements that is shared by; coming from; or done by the local community, it is something which defines that pacific place. From the work done on the right, we could see that these places are used by the common people; the common natural habitants; whilst also stores common issues and solutions.

What can be learned from this catalogue of commons, through observing & research, these nodes from Sydney & Hong Kong both creates values & opportunities that can be continually shared through design, allowing all commons to be further explored and even developed by our future generations. Whither by revitalisation; conservation; or expansion, these spaces has proved to be successful in terms of creating or managing its commons, which had made them flourish in overall performance.

PROCESS Model making has always been a stronger skill I am fond of.

Whether is building a model kit or with scraps that are found, it is a fun way create things out of ideas & to explore my imagination.

In Landscape Architecture studios, models are taught as a great way to show & tell your ideas with the existing 3D structures sitting in front of the listener, the skills I have learned in class had enhanced immensely with the way to convey designs on a landscape with considerations of using tone materials to represent other subjects or materials.

D O C U M E N TAT I O N Another form of design representation is construction drawings, by using programs such as AutoCAD, a more technical & detailed drawing can be produced in suitable for construction level of rendering.

Documentation are taught as to exhibit the mathematical details on design, showing the different changes in levels and material usage within the project. Features’ details are also highlighted in units at close range, aiming to be done at a profession level.
