Garage management system trends GW readers reveal their views on garage management systems.
A STAGGERING 43 per cent of garages have said that their workshop management system “could be better” while another three per cent claim their system to be “rubbish” in a recent GW reader survey. Not everyone is dissatisfied though as 53 per cent believe theirs is ideal. When it comes to the system itself, 79 per cent use a specialist digital system compared to 15 per cent who prefer a traditional diary/tcard system and six per cent who do without a management system altogether. Almost 40 per cent have had the same system for more than five years and, at the other end of the scale, just 13 per cent have switched in the past 12 months. Additional capabilities such as online booking and ability to record digital evidence for customers appears to be a growing necessity for garage owners. Almost half of respondents say online bookings are important for their business and an additional 15 per say it’s “essential”. Pictures and/or videos of vehicle faults are taken “most of the time” by 14 per cent and “all of the time” by four per cent.
