Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues:
As I reflect on the past 18 years of our work together, your continuous engagement in scholarly endeavors and commitment to supporting our students has never waned. Even through the challenges created by pandemics and the sometimes less than favorable environment around us, you have found a way to actively support your disciplines, advance the thinking and intellectual breadth within your fields, intentionally mentor and serve, and bring that good work to bear for the benefit of our students and our University. You have accomplished much, and the creative works completed this year are evidence of your commitment to your calling as academics, mentors, and leaders within higher education.
You deserve the recognition you have received and will receive today in this celebration. I am truly grateful for all that you do in partnership with and for the development and success of our students. Today we congratulate you and thank you for sharing your hearts and creative spirit.
This Celebration of Excellence comes as we prepare for commencement and celebration of our students’ successes. We all recognize that the work of the faculty and staff is a central pillar of that success. Today’s event rightfully provides an opportunity to reflect on the tremendous individual colleagues we have in our midst as well as the cumulative impact that you have in driving this University ever more toward excellence. We are here to celebrate your accomplishments in scholarship, teaching, and service, each one critical to the Gannon experience.
It has been a privilege to work side-by-side with so many of you to create an environment in which not only the students flourish but our peers do as well. It is not only my pleasure, but it is a privilege to present the scholarly contributions of the faculty from the College of Engineering and Business as part of this year’s impressive record of Faculty Scholarship and Research. Through these submissions, it is clear that the Boyer Model is embraced in theory and in practice by our faculty. You will see as you read on, they are active scholars as evidenced by the relevant and diverse submissions that follow. These educators are vital in the classroom because they continue to stretch themselves and grow in ways that citations cannot fully capture.
The span of academic professional products summarized in this document demonstrates that our faculty are committed to academic excellence and are actively engaged in the pursuit of knowledge to enhance their roles as scholars, educators, and mentors.

Dear Faculty Colleagues,
It is with great enthusiasm that I celebrate the work of the faculty of the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences at Gannon University. A review of the many contributions demonstrates a spirit of collaboration and creativity. Presentations at prestigious, international conferences and invited keynote speeches are balanced by presentations at local conferences and workshops where our faculty are making a real impact in the Erie community. Likewise, faculty are publishing scholarly books and articles as well as lending their expertise to the schools and community organizations around us and enriching local publications widely read by the general public. A dedication to excellence along with a commitment to making a real difference in the lives of our students and community members forms the foundation of the university and continually propels us forward as we mentor the next generation of leaders.
The Boyer Model of Scholarship provides the framework for these endeavors, and it is fully realized in these examples of scholarship of discovery, teaching, application, integration, and engagement. I appreciate your dedication to the pursuit of truth through research and your engagement of students in this process.
After reviewing the scholarly accomplishments achieved by colleagues within the Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences, I am impressed by the quality of your work and humbled by your commitment and perseverance to attain such recognition and success within your discipline. The role of a faculty member is multi-faceted and requires you to balance your responsibilities as educators, advisors, scholars, and servants to others.
