Lucille Allen
CNA Instructor
My name is Lucille Allen. I am an LVN, CPR Instructor, and CNA Instructor with over 20 years of experience. I have a true passion for teaching and nursing, and I love helping others discover new ways to succeed. My personal motto is: Failure is not an option.

I’m an animal lover who enjoys spending time outdoors in the winter and staying indoors during the summer. I’m happily married. I have three grown children, all of whom are successful professionals, and I’m blessed with seven amazing grandchildren who are each on their own path to greatness.
I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to work at Galveston College—it stands as one of my proudest personal achievements.
Stephon Beard CNA Instructor
My name is Stephon Beard, RN, BSN, and I’m proud to be from La Marque, Texas (BOI). I graduated from La Marque High School, Class of 2009, and went on to earn three degrees from Galveston College—in General Studies, Nursing (Associate), and Bachelor of Nursing. I specialize in Pediatrics, a field that brings me great joy.
My inspiration to become a nurse came from my mother, who’s been a nurse for nearly 30 years, and from summers spent caring for my uncle with MS. I enjoy fishing, playing Madden, and cooking BBQ, but most of all, I love spending time with my family. My pet peeve is hearing excuses or the phrase “I can’t.”
I find happiness in others’ success, the laughter of children, and warm hugs. My favorites include apple caramel pops, banana pudding, and a perfectly cooked steak.
These courses are designed to provide healthcare professionals and first responders with the knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to respond effectively to cardiac and respiratory emergencies. Based on the latest American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines, we emphasize high-quality CPR, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and team-based emergency response. Classes run for 4.5 hours and a textbook is included.

Peggy O’Neal
CPR/ Dual Credit CNA Inst.
Peggy O’Neal has been a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) since 1978. She completed her nursing education at Memorial Hospital of Galveston County in Texas City from 1977 to 1978. In addition to her nursing credentials, she has served as a certified CPR Instructor since 2017 and has held the role of Training Site Coordinator since 2020.

Betty Cooper
CPR/ Dual Credit CNA Inst.
I have been a Registered Nurse since 1995. I currently serve as an Adjunct Instructor for Continuing Education at Galveston College, as well as a CPR Instructor certified through the American Heart Association. My educational background includes an A.A.S. in Nursing from College of the Mainland, a B.S. in Nursing from Prairie View A&M University, and a M.S. in Nursing Education from Lamar University.

O’Neal brings extensive experience in longterm care (LTC) nursing, having worked both as a direct care nurse and as a Nurse Consultant. In her consulting role, she traveled across Texas to educate staff, particularly nurse aides, on best practices in resident care, as well as proper and accurate documentation.
Her professional background also includes work in physicians’ offices and hospital settings, broadening her expertise across various areas of healthcare. O’Neal has served over eight years as the Lead Instructor in Galveston College’s Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program, where she has taught both adult and high school students in the areas of CNA, Phlebotomy, Patient Care Technician, and CPR.
I’ve been teaching at Galveston College for the past eight years. The courses I currently teach include Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Patient Care Technician (PCT), CPR, and Phlebotomy. My primary area of expertise is in Medical-Surgical Nursing. I also bring practical experience from working as a Charge Nurse in long-term care (LTC) facilities and in correctional healthcare with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), serving both as a Charge Nurse and a floor nurse.
I have a special passion for teaching and mentoring future CNAs, PCTs, and nurses. What I enjoy most about teaching is witnessing my students’ growth, watching them gain confidence, develop skills, and knowing I’ve made a positive impact on their journey.

Rodriguez Yoga Instructor
Howdy! Welcome to my short storybook about my yoga journey. It didn’t start out easy—five years ago, I went through one of the hardest times of my life. Desperate for something to help, I gave yoga a shot. I didn’t instantly connect with a teacher and often felt like giving up, but the practice itself kept me going. It was one of the only things that brought calm to the storm in my head.

After countless early mornings and late nights down the YouTube rabbit hole, I finally found teachers who inspired me—and eventually, I pursued certification myself. I already had strong beliefs about life and struggled to connect them to yogic philosophy. So I spent months searching for the right school and, in January 2024, flew to Guatemala to study under Doron Hanoch at a Zen center. It was intense, transformative, and exactly what I needed. Now, I hope to guide others to discover their own path and awakening through yoga.
Galen Richison Yoga Instructor
I have been teaching yoga for 25 years in Galveston, and regularly attend yoga workshops with different local, national and worldwide instructors to learn their techniques on postures, how to demonstrate and make adjustments to those poses, and breathing techniques. My personal teaching style is to incorporate what I have learned from those different teachers and combine that knowledge into what works best for me and my students. Fun music, good energy and physical wellness is what you’ll get with my classes.
