Kayak Cup

The 2nd Annual PokerStars Kayak Cup On Saturday 21st July 35 Kayaks took to the water at Port Erin Bay for the 2nd Annual PokerStars Kayak Cup. The fishing competition is a species hunt and the event is 100% catch and release. All fish are photographed before the released. The person who catches the most species of fish wins the Species cup, however everyone who takes part in the comp goes into a draw to win a sea fishing kayak worth over ÂŁ800. The sun was shining and the beach was busy when the day started with the kayakers picking up their safety tags at the registration tent, they where also given a voucher for a free bacon butty and cup of tea from the Bohemian Restaurant. After the safety briefing and introduction to the safety team of 2 boats powered by Bottom Line Yamaha Marine, and the safety Kayak team from outdoor Ramsey, the 35 intrepid kayakers took to the waters at 10am. At 3pm all the kayakers were back on the beach safe and happy and when all signed back in with the shore team, the results were in and being checked. 19 different species of fish had been caught, photographed and released. An amazing result as there are 25 species plus in and around the bay. The Results: The Winner of the 2nd Annual PokerStars Kayak Fishing Cup, with a fantastic 11 species, Kevin Walmsley. Second Place, with 9 species, Cameron Sayle. Third Place, with 8 species, Chris Cale. The winner of the Manta Ray 12 Fishing Kayak was Chris Cale.
