New consultant for Cains’ London office Cains, the Isle of Man law and professional services group, has announced the appointment of Daniel Mackelden as a consultant to the firm in its London office. Daniel has 20 years’ legal and fiduciary experience. He originally trained at Linklaters and his career postings have included Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney and the Caribbean. He previously worked for Cains between 2005 - 2010 and at that time was responsible for the establishment of the London office. During this period he was significantly involved with capital markets work, in particular, AIM but also advised on a wide range of general finance, banking, fund and corporate work. His experience post 2010 has included senior management positions with two international professional service firms with a wide range of institutional, corporate and UHNW clients.
Bransom back on the board Re-elected to the ISS board of directors for a third consecutive run Douglas, ISLE OF MAN – Moore Stephens is delighted to announce that its director of Moore Stephens Crew Benefits, Bransom Bean, has been re-elected to the International Superyacht Society (“ISS”) Board of Directors for the period 2015 to 2018. While also ending a three year term as ISS treasurer and member of the executive committee, he continues as Chair of the ISS’ Education Committee, organising educational annual seminars for the superyacht industry in Fort Lauderdale, the South of France and Singapore. Founded in 1989, the ISS www.superyachtsociety.org is the Global Trade Association for the international superyacht industry.
New president and members elected to Isle of Man Law Society Council The Council of the Isle of Man Law Society has a new line-up of members. At the society’s AGM Simon Cain of Appleby was elected president and Jane Gray of Dickinson Cruikshank (Ramsey) vice-president. Mr Cain succeeds Kevin O’Riordan of Kelly Luft Stanley & Ashton and Ms Gray, Paul Kerruish of Kerruish Law. Newly elected members of the Council were Kathryn Clough of Callin Wild, Peter Clucas of Cains Advocates, Irini Newby of Simcocks, Walter Wannenburgh of Dougherty Quinn and Andrew Bridson of Bridson Halsall who join existing members and Terence McDonald of Carter Jones McDonald, along with associate member Andrew Johnston of Hansard.
New Cruise Consultant Appointed The Department of Economic Development has appointed local maritime company, Neptumar (IOM) Ltd, a subsidiary of Döhle (IOM) Ltd, as its Cruise Consultant as part of a new strategy to drive forward cruise business in the Isle of Man. The three year contract will see Neptumar (IOM) Ltd build on the considerable success in attracting cruise ships over the last nine years. This year there will be a record number of 19 cruise ships visiting the Isle of Man, with bookings for 2016 standing at 16 already.
Paying tribute to his predecessor Mr Cain said Mr O’Riordan had made a valuable contribution to shaping the Council as it was today, at a time when the legal profession was facing new and mounting challenges brought about by changes to the Island’s regulatory landscape.
