RL360 GROUP ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION OF CLERICAL MEDICAL INTERNATIONAL

nified communications provider, plan.com has announced a number of vacancies to expand their sales team here on the Isle of Man.

T

he RL360 Group has today announced it has entered into an agreement with Lloyds Banking Group plc (“Lloyds”) to acquire its international life business Clerical Medical International Insurance Company Limited (“CMI”). The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.

CMI was one of the first international operations to be established by a UK life company back in 1987, and after a number of ownership changes has been running as a closed book of business since March 2012. The closure of CMI resulted from Lloyds’ broader strategy of focusing on its core UK banking and insurance operations. CMI has c.24,000 policies with over £5bn assets under management, which will transfer over to the RL360 Group. Operations are managed in the Isle of Man where it employs over 100 staff.

The fast growing firm which was launched just over a year ago by former Yes Telecom co-founder Keith Curran and private equity investor Dan Craddock, plan.com currently employees over 35 staff and offers a modern, flexible B2B proposition to the fixed, mobile and IT reseller community. TRANSPARENCY AND BOARDROOM BEHAVIOUR TAKE CENTRE STAGE AT ICSA CONFERENCE

L

aurence Skelly, Minister for the Department of Economic Development highlighted the importance of transparency within the Isle of Man’s financial sector at the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators’ annual Isle of Man Conference in May. Speaking at the Best Western Palace Hotel & Casino in Douglas, the Minister told delegates that the government is committed to ensuring that the Isle of Man continues to be a jurisdiction that is able to operate globally with no fear of penalty. He praised the Isle of Man for being a leader among offshore centres in signing up to tax and transparency agreements with trade partners, and stressed that countries wanting to operate in global markets need to operate within the global rules. Christine Clucas, ICSA Isle of Man Vice Chair said, ‘This year’s conference was a huge success and provided the island’s professionals with the perfect forum to brush up their knowledge and network. The conference is a great way for businesses to meet the challenge of keeping up to date with the latest regulatory and legal changes.’

JCC RAISES £3,000 FOR MANX CANCER HELP

O

n Saturday 9th May the Junior Chamber of Commerce (“JCC”) hosted a black tie dinner in aid of Manx Cancer Help and raised £3,000 in the process. Sponsored by Barclays and compared by Christy DeHaven there was music by local band “Switch” which had JCC members and guests dancing into the small hours of Sunday morning. Headlining the event was David Schneider, a former Radio 5 Live 'Tweeter of the Year', with over 200,000 followers on Twitter. David shared his thoughts on the viral potential of social media and how businesses should harness the power of social media to improve their business performance. www.jcc.im
