Charleston Gaillard Center Announces Second Season of Lowcountry Listens June 7, 2021 – Charleston, SC – Charleston Gaillard Center is thrilled to announce the return of Lowcountry Listens this summer in a live format at the Gaillard Center! Created during the pandemic to showcase local artists, the first season of Lowcountry Listens featured virtual performances streamed to Facebook and YouTube. In 2021, the Gaillard Center will present four performances live and in-person in intimate settings around the building to audiences ranging in size from 60 to 100 guests. Each will provide patrons with a unique opportunity to experience the Gaillard Center as never before, including sitting cabaret style on the stage of the Martha and John M. Rivers Performance Hall, experiencing the skylighted atrium of the Gallery, or enjoying a performance outside on the Terrace Lawn.

ABOUT KEVIN PATTON Kevin Patton is a composer, instructor, and saxophonist from Charleston, South Carolina. Over the past decade, he has performed in various venues such as churches, concert halls, and restau- rants. He graduated from College of Charleston in 2014 with a degree in Music Performance. Under the instruction of Robert Lewis and many other great professors, he gained a wealth of knowledge concerning the saxophone and music theory.

Over the years, Kevin has experienced a lot of success in the field of music. He has performed in many festivals such as Piccolo Spoleto, Savannah Black Heritage

Festival, and the Atlanta Heritage Music Festival, where he received the Maestro Award. Currently, he teaches at Allegro Charter School of Music, produces an online concert series titled “Music in Charleston”, and is a member of the Charleston Jazz Orchestra.

In addition to performing regularly, Kevin released an album titled “Full Authority” in the fall of 2015. “Full Authority” dives into his two main musical influences: Gospel and Jazz. He likes to merge the two genres into a melting pot of new sounds that the world has never heard before. His goal for the future is to continue to improve, while following the plan that God has for his life.

Learn more about Kevin Patton: YouTube Facebook ABOUT LINDSAY HOLLER Lindsay Holler sings and plays guitar. Her voice moves onto the sidewalk through a cracked upstairs window on dusky afternoons. It smells you with its tongue, pensively considers, and strikes. In clubs and theatres … it's the same. On some occasions it caresses; other times accuses. When amplified it can be seen on the air … then we all drown.

Holler lives in Charleston, South Carolina. She hails the South as home and has lived in New Orleans and New York; she studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and is a graduate of the College of Charleston jazz program. She has performed across the Southeast and East Coast.

Holler cites influences from the likes of Tom Waits, Gram Parsons, Nina Simone and Neil Young - preferring genre straddlers, categorical misfits and indefinables.

ABOUT TOM MACKELL A Charleston, South Carolina-based singer/songwriter whose honest and soulful mix of Americana, pop and rock creates a melodic, smooth sound that's effortlessly organic. Originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mackell honed his skills performing at bars and restaurants. He performed back and forth between Philadelphia and Charleston before moving to Nashville in 2015. Diving headfirst into music city, he landed a job at a talent agency while also writing and recording in his free time. He then went on to release five singles from 2016-2018 followed by a five-track EP in 2019 and another single “Strange Times” in 2020.

With years of touring under his belt, Mackell has performed with artists such as Ryan Montbleau, Sister Hazel, Tony Lucca, Charlie Mars, SUSTO, and more. From living and touring up and down the east coast, Tom has attracted a wide range of listeners. He’s most grateful for the opportunity to share his music with his fans: “My favorite part of being an artist is connecting with the listener. I love everything about performing, from the long drives to the late night hangs and meeting new faces along the way. There is something about the hustle in being an independent artist that gives me a rush. Times can get tough, but my focus is always on improving and finding new ways to create compelling new music.”

His latest single, “Maybe Tonight”, dropped on March 5, 2021. Released alongside an official video, the song is a powerful blend of Americana, pop and rock. The song is thoughtful, introspective and hopeful in its lyrical content. Complemented by alluring electric guitars and a driving backbeat, Tom’s new single sets the tone for the rest of his year. “In releasing this new song I wanted to touch upon the fact that my influences range from soul and pop to folk and rock. Something I admire about artists today is that there is so much genre- defying music. I enjoy making art that has no guidelines and is just a pure human expression.”
