Charleston Gaillard Center 25/26 Season Brochure

Page 1

The Charleston Gaillard Center commissions, supports, and presents ambitious, multidisciplinary cultural programming and provides access to the best local, national, and global artists and companies.

Deeply rooted in the community, the Gaillard is committed to elevating local and regional voices and partnering with Charleston institutions to reflect the city’s diversity. Through programming on its public campus and extensive arts education initiatives, it serves as a platform to participate in community building and essential dialogue.

Dear Friends,

As we embark on the Charleston Gaillard Center’s milestone 10th season, I want to express my gratitude to you—our audiences, artists, supporters, and event partners—for bringing this space to life. For nearly a decade, the Gaillard Center has held fast to its mission of being a gathering place, a cultural classroom, and a space where arts and ideas come together to reflect our community. It is where lasting memories are created—where a performance stays with you long after the curtain falls, where a conversation sparks new perspectives, and where shared moments become part of your personal journey.

Within the magnificent Martha and John M. Rivers Performance Hall, we have witnessed powerful experiences—electrifying performances, enlightening dialogues, and transformative educational opportunities that shape our collective story. Every note played, every seat taken, and every milestone celebrated here leaves an enduring mark, reminding us of the vital role the arts and communal experiences play in our lives.

The 2025/2026 season offers a dynamic lineup of performances and events—with even more announcements still to come. We are especially excited to revive Finding Freedom: The Journey of Robert Smalls, the Gaillard Center’s first original theater production. Through this powerful story, we honor the legacy of a South Carolina hero, sharing it with young audiences locally and nationwide as it tours the country next year. We are also thrilled to present the world premiere of Dark Water from Complexions Contemporary Ballet and Edward Hart—a groundbreaking co-commission with the Charleston Symphony that fuses music and movement in an unforgettable new work.

We hope you will join us for performances that inspire, for events that bring us together, and for experiences that ignite creativity in the next generation. Whether you have been with us from the start or are visiting for the first time, we welcome you to be part of this special season—to Feel It All and create new memories to cherish for decades to come.

Adapted for Tour by JaMeeka D. Holloway

Original Story by Teralyn Reiter

Original Script Developed by JaMeeka D. Holloway, Celeste Jennings, and Caroline Randall Williams
