element of the proposal. First he walked Amy Brickman to dinner at Pauline and Cory Boyce’s newest restaurant, MondayTuesdayWednesday. On the way, Maddock had arranged for a flash mob to distract Brickman while he composed himself before he popped the question. Sources say Brickman was captivated by the homeless men (paid actors) performing a choreographed dance to Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me.” But when Maddock tried to subtly toss a lighter onto the ground, Brickman heard it drop. Paranoid that one of the horde of homeless men would beat her to it, Brickman raced to retrieve the lighter and discovered it was engraved with her and Maddock’s pet names, Mammal and Human. When Brickman turned to thank her boyfriend for the somewhat sappy gift, she saw that Maddock was down on one knee, ring in hand, professing his love. Brickman could not hear a word he said. She was too concerned that he was straining his hand trying to hold a ring with a stone the size of a small egg. She screamed, “Put it on! Put it on!” and with that, promised herself to Maddock forever. Her heartfelt promise fell on deaf ears, because at that moment, her fiancé fainted. Their bodyguards, Wyeth Kuhl and Wesley Wedell, carried Maddock to his private car and drove him to the hospital where doctors closely supervised his condition through the night. Maddock was released early the next morning, and the lovebirds escaped out the back to avoid the swarming paparazzi (gets them every time). Doctors were flummoxed by Maddock’s condition and have refused to release a report. Linus King, a medical school student and groomsman, believes the fainting could have been caused by a fluid imbalance in the inner ear: “Ivan had never gone down on one knee before, and most people don’t know that it can really throw off your equilibrium. In the weeks before I proposed to my wife, Bronwyn, I did 20-minute sessions of single-leg kneeling every day. I highly recommend this training schedule to anyone planning a proposal.” The happy, healthy couple are looking forward to their massive Bryn Athyn wedding on June 30.

hand model. Graphic photos and violent headlines more than hinted at trouble in in-law paradise. But sources close to the families told GAB! that the shocking event was staged to raise awareness for Ivan Maddock’s new promotional campaign: Cat Fight for a Cause. Maddock, who founded a number of hair-related charities including Beards of Beauty, Mustaches of Mercy, and Arm Hair for Humanity, has been watching donations steadily decline over the past few years. “These are hard times for hair,” admitted Maddock. “In this economy people can’t afford to go to the salon, so we needed to think outside of the box.” The answer? Cat fights. “There’s so much hair flying, but no one harvests it!” exclaimed Amy Brickman, Maddock’s fiancé who fully supports this new endeavor. An unconfirmed source claimed Brickman and her friends have gone so far as to start small brawls themselves. The celebs refused to comment, but GAB! talked to people who have witnessed the women’s tagteam approach: Amy befriends some strangers; Mandy and Tanya Nash plant seeds of hostility; Kathryn Bibler and Courtney Kuhl protect onlookers from flying fists; Deryn Boyce and Brooke McQueen swoop in when things get too nasty; and Carla Bostock and Kylie Elsing collect after everything has blown over. “For them it’s just another night out on the town. Might as well do it for a good cause,” one of the girls’ agents told GAB! The moms are on board, too, but they are hoping to reach a more mature audience. “We wanted to show that you don’t have to be a spry 20-something to assault someone,” they explained.

THE MADDOGS

Derby Dreams

VAN MADDOCK’s derby dream has become a reality! The Maddogs are the latest addition to the Penn Jersey Roller Derby League and the brainchild of Maddock, who has been skating at a roller rink once every summer for the past 12 years. Tryouts for the team were grueling and involved glow necklaces, limbo, and a giant set of fuzzy dice. While Maddog team members have consistently canine-themed stage names, they are notorious for their inconsistent costumes. The skaters’ unthemed wardrobe was mandated by Amy “Kibbled to Bits” Brickman. Her friend Brooke “Whippet Good” McQueen told GAB! that Brickman has an ulterior motive to outfitting her teammates. “Ivan has a huge costume collection which is currently taking up all of what will be Amy’s closet space! Before she moves in he needs to thin out his wardrobe to make room for her clothes.” Simon “Bull Mastiff-arm” Daum is one of the Maddogs’ secret weapons. “He looks a little unwieldy in real life, but once he laces up his skates, he is transformed,” said teammate Jason “Bah Hum Pug” Hyatt. “It's like watching a waltz around the track.” The dedicated newlyweds will take a break from their honeymoon travels so they can compete in the first match of the season when the Maddogs face off against Dishonor Roll on July 13, 2012.

Cherry Blossom princesses must: 1. Participate in a cherry pie eating contest. 2. Chop down a sapling cherry and give a truthful account of their actions. 3. Spit cherry seeds for both distance and accuracy. 4. Correctly estimate the number of flowers on one fully bloomed tree. 5. Incorporate “cherry blossom” into an original haiku. 6. Carve a cherry seed into the likeness of George Washington.

The multi-talented Amy Brickman had already added Miss Cherry Blossom to her long list of accomplishments when her title was called into question. Skeptics cried foul when Brickman was crowned. They claimed Brickman’s celebrity status propelled her to the top and that her win was a publicity stunt for the as-yet-unknown contest. Judges denied the accusations, releasing a public statement that read: “We only knew Amy as Miss Pennsylvania. She didn’t want her fame, beauty, and talent to sway our votes.” After examining the tapes, officials announced that Brickman had indeed earned her title and that she was “by far the best contestant, as if her whole life was leading up to this moment.”
