Connected TV (CTV) grew exponentially in 2020, with viewers streaming more ad-supported content and media buyers looking to invest more in CTV advertising. Amid this growth, it became incredibly challenging for programmers to manage and monetize their CTV ad inventory, while delivering TV-like ad experiences to viewers. These challenges stemmed from the use of antiquated advertising technology originally built for web environments (where there is one pre-roll ad per one video). This tech doesn’t translate well

CTV Incremental Reach Impact Measurement Solution With the massive growth in CTV consumption since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many brands sought tools to better navigate the medium and create cross-screen strategies. One happened to be Whataburger, which sought to reach new audiences beyond its existing linear TV spend in CTV. But without a unified view of its media reach, Whataburger needed tools to seamlessly shift their strategy, measure the efficacy of CTV in driving incremental reach in their local markets and ensure they were reaching the right audience. To address these needs, Whataburger leveraged ENGINE Media Exchange’s (EMX) newly launched CTV Incremental Reach Impact Measurement solution. It provides a better understanding and cost analysis for audience reach as well as a single view of spending with a cost-per-reach comparison of CTV versus linear TV. With this solution, Whataburger was able to balance reach across linear and CTV — effectively driving optimization of reach and media for greater ROI with the most efficient cost per deduplicated incremental reach point and market. Fueled by EMX’s impact measurement insights, Whataburger was empow-

ered to increase CTV reach and shift spending from linear to CTV — achieving incremental reach, cost-effectiveness, greater return and ultimately the ability to improve future buying strategies and make better media decisions. Specifically, EMX helped Whataburger achieve a 30% lift in reach compared to linear along with a

136% new household penetration, outperforming Whataburger’s goals of +196% quarter on quarter (QoQ). EMX proved that the cost per incremental reach of CTV versus linear TV was 21X more effective. The measurement EMX provided also showed that CTV was 2X more effective at reaching the right audience. EMX helped Whataburger solve for these challenges — effectively linking their CTV and linear buys together for more comprehensive campaigns.

This removes them from the viewer’s timeline drop down menu, which can also now be organized alphabetically, by creation date or in order of recent use.

Scene cut analysis can now be performed on both the cut and edit pages. It’s the fastest way to cut up long clips that users need to re-edit or color grade without the original source files. The DaVinci Neural Engine analyzes the images, finds the edit points and cuts up the clip.
