The Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities is a regional hub for sustainability education, research and leadership where students work directly alongside faculty and community partners on real-world projects. Eleanor Wilson ’25 began exploring chemistry before discovering her aptitude for accounting. Every experience shaped her path, leading to a job offer from one of the world’s top accounting firms.

• Mark Bettner, professor of her first accounting course, encouraged her to pursue accounting as a major

• Furman awarded her a $3,000 stipend to support her learning while interning at a small accounting firm in Alabama

JESSICA TAYLOR ’07 is the Senate and Governors Editor for The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter. Before joining Cook, Taylor was a political reporter for NPR for five years, where she covered elections and breaking news, ranging from the White House to both chambers of Congress and statewide elections.

THE DINING HALL provides farm-totable ingredients from our own farm and uses sustainable practices that complete the food cycle. Furman brings the food it grows full circle as DH food waste is transformed into compost that helps produce more fruits, vegetables and herbs.
